Reading Chris Frantz's autobiography so I'm revisiting the early albums.

Random thoughts/memories: There were not many people on my high school into the Dead so it was fun to see this scenePeople cheered loudly at the "I wish I was a headlight" line in I Know You RiderI knew drums/space was a thing but didn't quite get itI was surprised at how quiet it was during parts of Wharf RatAnd I really remember leaving and wanting to see them again

I'm really enjoying that one. The Queen Jane Approximately is fantastic.

Wow! Missed last night but need to track this down ...

I've lost interest in Kozelek's music a while ago - and he seemed pretty unpleasant - but he's a fucking creep. https://pitchfork.com/news/mark-kozelek-of-sun-kil-moon-accused-of-sexual-misconduct-by-three-women/

And I forgot to mention that Dr. John was the opener.

And now I'm on to this. Mainly about two guys in their 60s talking and drinking and talking and drinking.

Agree with you that there was sometimes too much inside information. And it's a tough task - there is so much written about Churchill/WWII/the Blitz that it is hard to come up with something fresh.

Also notable that it was my first Wilco show! I have a recording of it but I'm guessing this one is better. I'll give it a listen.

Put this on for the first time in a while. There's some great stuff on it.

Analogman - love your take on The Splendid and the Vile. I'll say, I liked it quite a bit. I appreciate that it was focused one a single year and that it focused on the details and the people rather than just the big picture.

I thought the Golden Age was great.

Inspired by my own comment in the Grateful Dead thread, what was your first concert? Mine was the Jerry Garcia Band in Boston 40 years ago tonight. If nothing else, I heard Tangled Up in Blue for the first time and bought Blood on the Tracks the next day.

I do like the new one Quickies. (And yes, it's 28 songs over 46 minutes with the shortest being 17 seconds and the longest being 2:35.) I'm mixed on the 50 Song Memoir. I think it has some of their best stuff ever but it also has some filler.

I saw my first concert ever 40 years ago tonight: Jerry Garcia Band at the Orpheum in Boston.

You are going deep into the Feelies' family! That album has some good stuff on it. I love Spinning.

I've been enjoying the Deadcast. They're doing a song-by-song look at Workingman's Dead. There is some good background stuff and interviews. https://www.dead.net/deadcast
