I like that one - and it's a good goal.

Liking this so far ...

One of my favorite soundtracks ...

Jerry Garcia Band, Boston, July 25, 1980. Great show but the most memorable thing for me was that it was the first time that I heard the song Tangled Up in Blue. I bought Blood on the Tracks the next day (and have probably listened to BOTT more than any other album).

The first album I ever picked up turns 25 tomorrow..

It was the 1970s. Mistakes were made ... -
Good choice. I listened to that the other day and I still really like it.

I just finished this (and thought it was pretty good): One funny anecdote: They were playing the early Bonnaroo festivals, when Bonnaroo was a little more focused on jam bands. Someone shouted out "what does Yo La Tengo mean?" Ira responded "it's Spanish for Chinacat Sunflower ..."

Newbury Comics in Harvard Square - walked in and heard Walken, What Light, and On and On and On ...

It's funny - I have Irving's new one but I'm not quite ready to read it. Instead I just started this:

Wow - I didn't think a deal like that would happen. Sad to see AGon go ... Maybe it's all part of a plan to bring back Bill Lee: http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/Bill-Lee-wins-professional-game-at-65-3811767.php

The info is there on the website. I actually thought they did a nice job of breaking down the data in different ways, particularly the geographic information. But in the end, yes, it's another list and I agree with some of it and disagree with some of it.

Cheaters!! Voting is reopened: From http://wilcoworld.net/#!/photo-contest-poll/ Alright, people, we're going to be blunt here. We caught a whole lot of people cheating during the voting period of this summer's photo contest, i.e., contestants voting for themselves more than once, at times, thousands of times in one day. It is clearly stated in the original rules & regulations that this is against the rules of the contest. However, since this contest is part of a campaign pushing for voting on environmental issues by the general public, and pushing for people to speak up and be heard

Beatles Songs You Actually Dislike
Oil Can Boyd replied to lost highway's topic in Someone Else's Song
And I know I've pointed this out here on VC before but it blows me away that they did all that while they were in their 20s. George Harrison was 26 when he did his last recordings with the Beatles ... -
Kristin Hersh (Thorwing Muses/50 Foot Wave) last night and again tonight

I'm reading this right now and it's pretty good. Remarkably detailed look at their formation and early days. I'm only at the point where their first record came out but it's interesting to read about their approach to things in the early days (and the number of bass players they went through).

Beatles Songs You Actually Dislike
Oil Can Boyd replied to lost highway's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'm sure I'll get some disagreement here but I've never liked Within You Without You. I had a friend in college and we would always have the same argument when Sgt. Pepper's was on: he'd say it was the best song on the album and I'd say it was the worst. -

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
Oil Can Boyd replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
Kind of stalkery but a friend of mine was dropping her son off at college this past weekend. During one of the freshman orientation sessions for parents Bruce and Patti were sitting right in front of her. -

That is my take on it too. For me I was starting to lose some interest in Wilco and about 30 seconds into Art of Almost during my first listen to TWL I thought "they're back ..."
-
For me it's TWL by a long shot.
