  1. According to pitchfork and Rolling Stone he's got a new album coming out in June. From Pitchfork: Folksy Bon Iver mastermind Justin Vernon has certainly kept busy as of late, but it's been more than a minute since we've heard any word on the follow-up to Bon Iver's 2009 EP Blood Bank. Now, a Rolling Stone article sheds a bit of light on Bon Iver's forthcoming LP. The as-yet-untitled ten-song record is set for release some time in June. According to Rolling Stone, experimental saxophonist Colin Stetson and pedal-steel guitarist Greg Leisz (Wilco, Joni Mitchell) were tapped to contribute t
  2. It's not really a cover because it's just a snippet but I recently listened to an old episode of This American Life and it included David Sedaris singing the Oscar Mayer bologna song in the voice of Billie Holiday. Man did I laugh ...

  4. Saw this tonight on the big screen. Man, what a great movie.
  5. I'm a big fan of both Cale and Paris 1919. Stan Demeski (drummer for the Feelies and Luna (who opened for the Velvet Underground reunion tour)) wrote this on his facebook page: "Happy Birthday to the only VU member who wouldn't talk to the opening band." He then added "Cale gave me a hard time about signing my un-peeled banana cover too. Last night of the tour I asked him, he said no then asked who I was. He relented a few minutes later."
  6. I really like this one. I got the deluxe edition which has a disc of demos, and that is pretty cool too.
  7. Of course, that was right before Randy mentioned that Don Was was in the Traveling Wilburys ...
  8. Another vote for This American Life (which is the only one I never miss) but I also like Radiolab.
  9. That is an interesting issue. A friend of mine, who is a huge REM fan, ran into Peter Buck in a record store a couple of years ago and the conversation apparently went something like this: Friend: Hi, I'm a huge fan and your early albums were really really important to me. Buck: Thanks, that's nice to hear. Hopefully our more recent albums are important to you too. Friend: Um, well, uhh ... My friend says Buck was really nice and they talked for a while longer but he said that was kind of awkward.
  10. About six hours ago (3:00 AM) I got an email with the password for yesterday's pre-sale.
  11. I never saw Big Black but I did see Steve Albini's next band Rapeman. They were pretty intense.
  12. Public thanks to explodo for helping me out. I was able to get some tickets to the Cambridge show.
  13. I consider the Feelies one of my five favorite bands of all time but I won't disagree with you. I think the first one (Crazy Rhythms) had some decent lyrics but after that they became very mundane. As you say, not bad just forgettable.

  15. I emailed wordless music who is running the event and they emailed back saying "check the Elephant 6 Town Hall message board." I went there and found a bunch of messages from people asking what the password is ...
  16. Maybe I'm missing it but does anyone know where to get the password for the Cambridge pre-sale that starts tomorrow? The box office website says that a password is needed but I can't find any info on where to get one ...
  17. Another good one from the rejuvenated Buffalo Tom.
  18. RIP Duke Snider As a kid I always had this fascination with the Brooklyn Dodgers and Snider was one of the guys who I admired.
