Yeah, apparently it's fake though. Rumor is that it's part of some Gillette "close shave" ad campaign.

Pretty good documentary about a pretty interesting couple. On a pretty meager income they become important - and obsessive - art collectors.

Saw the Feelies Saturday night in Cambridge. As always, they put on a tremendous show. Two hours of music, with a nice mix of old and new. While I like (but don't love) the new album, the stuff they played from it sounded great. The first encore was the Stones' Rocks Off followed by REM's Boxcars.

I know this is derailing this thread, but speaking of crazy sports fan and Larry Bird, here is a story about a criminal who, at his sentencing, asked for a 33-year sentence instead of 30 because he wanted to honor Larry Bird, who wore No. 33.

I took to be that Phil Esposito is still held in very high regard by many Bruins fans. He was a little before my time but as a kid I remember seeing bumper stickers around Boston saying "Jesus saves, Esposito scores on the rebound."

Bartolo Colon had his own fat and bone marrow stem cells injected into his elbow and shoulder to help repair ligament damage and a torn rotator cuff.

I've never been a big Civil War buff but a few weeks ago my family and I were near Gettysburg and we swung through for a visit. Man, it was a pretty intense visit. I'm not ready to be a reenactor or anything but I feel like I definitely need to know and read more about it.

The oddest, most incongruous covers that you can think of
Oil Can Boyd replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
If it's odd and incongruous that we're looking for, this is right where the Miley Cyrus clip belongs. Incongruous: lacking congruity: as a : not harmonious : incompatible b : not conforming : disagreeing c : inconsistent within itself d : lacking propriety : unsuitable -

Moved from the other covers thread ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDmkuBlEnUE There are so many things wrong with this but the best/worst might be the Elaine Benes style dancing she does at the beginning. -
Still my favorite Dark Star. And I agree with Shug that Winterland's summary is good, but that it needs to start earlier than 1972. I don't listen to the Dead all that much anymore but when I do I tend to put on stuff from 69-70.

I posted something similar earlier in this thread but I do like your line "out of all the possible reactions I could have had to this album, boredom was one I never expected." I have seen them play some of the songs live and in true Feelies fashion, they do rev them up a bit. I read one review that basically said that the songs were not great but it still has the Feelies sound, and if you like that sound it's a decent album. That's pretty much how I feel after a few listens. I remember hearing The Good Earth when it first came out and about halfway through the first side saying to my frie

How were they? I saw them last September at TTs and it was fantastic. Just like the old days ...

Most Beautiful Songs that Break Your Heart

Slightly off-topic but below is Charlie Crist's apology to David Byrne for using "Road to Nowhere" in a campaign ad without Byrne's permission. He says "In fact, Mr Byrne has never permitted his songs to be used for advertising of any kind, a position I respect deeply." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4k13LmlcUE&feature=player_embedded
