Are/were you a fan of Pianosaurus?

New EP out right now!

Almost done with this and it's a pretty interesting book. I am a bigger fan of Patti Smith as a person and an artist than as a musician, if that makes any sense. She has some classic songs but I rarely put them on.

The always great Bradley's Almanac has a download (mp3s) of the show. He also has links to two other Arcade Fire shows he recorded, one from 2004 and one from 2007.

There is an article in today's New York Times discussing the #1 status and the role that Amazon's $3.99 sale price played in it. Interesting quote: "Neither Merge nor SoundScan would say what proportion of the band’s sales last week came from Amazon, but the discount clearly helped: 62 percent of the album’s sales were as digital downloads, according to Billboard — more than twice as many as the band’s last album, “Neon Bible,” had in its first week in 2007."

That is good news. It's been a while since he toured. Saw this on-line: Regarding the as-yet-untitled new Sufjan Stevens album, [the National’s Bryce] Dessner told Exclaim! “We’ve played on some of the tracks and been listening to some of the stuff as he’s been working on it.” Dessner didn’t want to reveal too much about the new, Stevens album, but when asked if the new material sounded like his older records, Dessner said “no,” adding, “It’s going to be incredible, It’s going to probably blow people’s minds.”

I saw them at the Newport Folk Festival last weekend and they were fantastic. Definitely the highlight of the day for me. They brought their dad (who used to sing for Tower of Power) up to sing with them during the encore, which was pretty cool. -
Kevin Youklis is out for the rest of the year. Pedro staying retired. I was looking at Pedro's career numbers and it reminded me how unbelievably good he was, particularly in 1999 and 2000.

I just went to a store to buy a copy. They probably had 100 copies of the CD in the store and probably 90% of them were the image on the bottom row, 2nd from the right. I bought the one in the lower right hand corner, which was the only other option.

I was there but only heard a portion of his set as I as walking between the main stage (where I had been watching Calexico) and the small stage (where I was going to see Dawes). Yim Yames did come out and play two songs with John Prine at the end of Prine's set.

Yankess get Lance Berkman.

Wilco fans like to talk about baseball but they don't always agree.

I heard that Prince declared that the Arcade Fire is over. Talking to The Mirror, Prince said: “The Arcade Fire is completely over." He went on to say: “The Arcade Fire’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. All these songs about neighborhoods are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that cant be good for you.”

I like that one but I love Eleven:Eleven. And not to totally derail the thread but did you see that they are playing at TTs in September?

Me too. I read about half of it today (I'm on vacation).

Final time I plug this (I swear): Bill Janovitz is playing a one-off solo acoustic show at Schuba's in Chicago on July 16.
