  1. Saw this last night and thought it was great. The look on both Jack White's and the Edge's faces when Page starts playing Whole Lotta Love was priceless.
  2. It was pretty crazy. Here is what I don't get - I know it is one of those unwritten baseball rules that you don't steal when your team is up by a lot of runs but I had never heard that it was bad form to steal when you are down by a lot of runs. The coverage I saw last night made it seem like Morgan's steals were what set the whole thing off. And speaking of crazy, Nyjer Morgan is kind of crazy. Did you see the play Friday night where he unnecessarily crashed into the catcher and in doing so missed home plate and was called out?
  3. It shouldn't be that surprising to hear Wilco in a music store but I was just at Newbury Comics in Cambridge (MA) and they had disc one of Being There playing.
  4. It was sort of like the Beltre incident I referred to earlier in this thread. The ump seemed to want to show that he was boss. With Beltre the ump seemed pissed that Beltre and Hernandez were speaking to each other in Spanish and he assumed they were talking about him.
  5. Wow - that totally sucks. Has Rob Dibble commented yet?
  6. I'm walking out for some Mountain Dew, my honey ...
  7. I don't usually complain much about umpires but throwing Adrian Beltre out of the game last night was pretty ridiculous.
  8. According to boston.com he's staying with Detroit ...
  9. A friend of mine posted this picture on facebook with the caption "When did he go from Jesus to Morrissey?"
  10. Almost done with this and it's a pretty interesting book. I am a bigger fan of Patti Smith as a person and an artist than as a musician, if that makes any sense. She has some classic songs but I rarely put them on.
  11. The always great Bradley's Almanac has a download (mp3s) of the show. He also has links to two other Arcade Fire shows he recorded, one from 2004 and one from 2007.
  12. Saltalamacchia has the longest last name in baseball history? Who knew ...
  13. There is an article in today's New York Times discussing the #1 status and the role that Amazon's $3.99 sale price played in it. Interesting quote: "Neither Merge nor SoundScan would say what proportion of the band’s sales last week came from Amazon, but the discount clearly helped: 62 percent of the album’s sales were as digital downloads, according to Billboard — more than twice as many as the band’s last album, “Neon Bible,” had in its first week in 2007."
  14. Thanks for the heads up. Just got fourth row seats for Boston ...
  15. That is good news. It's been a while since he toured. Saw this on-line: Regarding the as-yet-untitled new Sufjan Stevens album, [the National’s Bryce] Dessner told Exclaim! “We’ve played on some of the tracks and been listening to some of the stuff as he’s been working on it.” Dessner didn’t want to reveal too much about the new, Stevens album, but when asked if the new material sounded like his older records, Dessner said “no,” adding, “It’s going to be incredible, It’s going to probably blow people’s minds.”
  16. I saw them at the Newport Folk Festival last weekend and they were fantastic. Definitely the highlight of the day for me. They brought their dad (who used to sing for Tower of Power) up to sing with them during the encore, which was pretty cool.
  17. Kevin Youklis is out for the rest of the year. Pedro staying retired. I was looking at Pedro's career numbers and it reminded me how unbelievably good he was, particularly in 1999 and 2000.
