  2. My humble advice: start with Daydream Nation and Goo. If you prefer DN, work your way chronologically backwards. If you prefer, Goo, work your way chronologically forward. For what it's worth, Dirty (the one right after Goo) is my favorite SY album, but I bet I'm in the minority!
  3. What the hell's that on my shoe, some god awful brown stinky goo. I don't think it looks like gum, it just came out of that little dog's bum. scoop, scoop doggie do, scoop scoop, scoop doggie do. walk like this and pinch your nose when it goes squish between your toes now scoop, scoop doggie do. Now since your goin' out the back, take the gloves and the little brown sack. Grab that metal shovel too, and clean up all of that doggie do. scoop, scoop doggie do, scoop scoop, scoop doggie do. walk like this and pinch your nose when it goes squish between your toes now scoop, scoop doggie do.

  6. For us Mendoza Line fans... The band's website has FINALLY been updated. There's even (glorious) mp3's from the upcoming mini-album. Sadly, "30 Year Low" is being called their "final" album. What this means for Timothy Bracy's music career is unknown. Is Mendoza Line the most underrated band of the last five years, or what?

  8. http://www.dylan07.com/album.html I figured there'd be some sort of new release to tie-in with the movie, but I wasn't expecting a 51-song compilation. I wonder if there'll be any unreleased/rare stuff... 2007 is shaping up to be a GREAT year for music (e.g. Mendoza Line, Wilco, Son Volt, Robert Pollard, and now Dylan).
  9. Robert Pollard- "Coast to Coast Carpet of Love" and "Standard Gargoyle Decisions"
  10. The Takeovers- "Bad Football" (Bob Pollard's best post-GbV release so far? Hell yes!)

  12. I miss Pete's contributions to the band, but Timothy is by far my favorite ML singer/songwriter. Must be cuz I'm a Dylan fanatic, and everyone says Bracy's singing and songwriting are very similar to Dylan's. Shannon's singing and songwriting will also be missed. Yes, I too have always wondered why someone like Matador or (especially) Merge hadn't picked up the band. They seem like a perfect fit for Merge. Maybe the upcoming 10-year anniversary "best-of" CD on Misra will put a cap to their bouncing-around days and then they'll finally be able to get some label security somewhere.
  13. Finally, some Mendoza Line news for those of us who care! Go here: http://glurp.com/menu4.html and then click on "The Mendoza Line," and then read the tracklisting for the upcoming double-CD, and then click on "More about 30 Year Low and The Mendoza Line" to read the surprising story of what's been going on with those guys. No wonder critics call them the indie-rock version of Fleetwood Mac! Good lord!!!
  14. Maybe you have heard a Jam song and didn't know it. Their song "Start!" (the one that blatantly rips off the Beatles' "Taxman") is currently used in a car commercial. It has the line "and what you give is what you get." Also, their tune "Town Called Malice" was featured in the movie European Vacation. I love The Jam. They were my favorite band when I was 16. They helped me bridge the gap between Sex Pistols/Clash/Buzzcocks/punk stuff and Public Image Ltd/Cure/Wire/post-punk stuff. "Just Who is the 5 O'Clock Hero?" is one hell of a pop tune. This pseudo-reunion sounds like a bad, bad, bad

  16. Don't you think it's about time Bob releases a CD of soundtrack-only, compilation-only tunes and other ephemera? Maybe the next Bootleg Series release could be something along these lines. The man has some loose ends to tie up. That reminds me-- when the hell will the next Bootleg Series release be announced???

  19. Will it be possible to get the Deluxe Edition AND the "indie-store only" CD all in one package? Or will I have to buy the album twice to get both of these goodies?
  20. Amazon now has the Deluxe Edition listed. It's 25 bucks.
  21. Worth checking out? If so, where do I start?
  22. "Why Didn't You Tell Me You Were Bringing Home a Baby?"--Happy Flowers "Less Bright Eyes, More Deicide"--A. Wilhelm Scream "Morrissey Rides a Cock Horse"--Warlock Pinchers "Get Your Biscuits in the Oven and Your Buns in the Bed"--Kinky Friedman
  23. Yes, I knew that was a lame joke. I couldn't resist. Sorry...
  24. Well, that explains why John Kerry is so fit and trim.
