  1. I appreciate your additional suggestion and agree it is a highly probably explanation. I agree the cancellation wasn't Tweedy's fault. I don't think Tweedy slighted his fans or owes us fans a show, but I expected more communication on the cancellation based on the last line in their last communication 3 days ago. I am optimistically hoping that the reason for the lack of additional info is related to something awesome coming our (fans) way. Jeff Tweedy is known for bringing the awesome to his fans. Simple as that. It didn't appreciate the "Why on earth" wording you chose to phrase your quest
  2. Easy killer! Their last tweet/communication (to my knowledge) was: "Today's #TasteofChicago show cancelled due to bad weather. More info as we get it." I've often seen artists issue statements lamenting their inability to perform and expressing empathy for those inconvenienced by the cancellation and committing to reschedule do something to make people happy.
  3. The only reason I can think of for Tweedy to not have issued a more apologetic statement regarding the cancellation is that they are working on a make up show. Surely they have to play a show in Chicago to promote the new album if they want the album to be successful.
  4. Oh no they didn't!! we've never had a top ten list around here, have we?
  5. It was a great show. Lucinda is a 61 YO Bad *ss. Announced around 9, came on stage just prior to 11 and played 15 songs, including many of her greatest hits, for about 80 minutes to a hot and sweaty crowd of 200. Really cool that she did this. I was lucky to have been there. From a Chicago Tribune article: Not all local venues were receptive to Williams coming in, according to Williams’ management, who posted the following on Lucinda Williams’ official Facebook: “Just called Buddy Guy's club - the girl I talked to didn't want to put much effort in getting ahold of mgmt and I also got the fee
  6. West Fest is still going on tonight for those looking for live music outside with food vendors and expensive drinks. Usually a great time. The rain will effect it too, but it is on streets so there shouldn't be as much of a problem.
  7. Now that we've killed the momentum of this thread thoroughly speculating on Wilco band member salaries in non-work year.... Any thoughts on how Spencer is getting paid for his work in TWEEDY?

  10. I don't know...I agree that there is money coming in for all, but I doubt they get a flat salary regardless of the workload.
  11. Tweedy contributes "The Wolf is on the Hill" to album. http://thefutureheart.com/2014/06/30/song-reader-cd/ Back in 2012, Beck returned from a lengthy hiatus with Song Reader, an album composed entirely of sheet music that could only be heard through performance. Since then, Beck has staged three different concerts, where he and a cavalcade of special guests performed the material live. Now, he’s finally ready to offer a companion album of recorded music, and he’s once more enlisted the help of some big-name talent. As Future Heart points out, Song Reader will feature tracks from Jack Whit

  13. AM - I Thought I Held You Being There - Was I in Your Dreams (ridiculously difficult) Summer Teeth - We're just Friends Yankee - Radio Cure AGIB - Wishful Thinking SBS - Leave me Like you Found Me WTA - Country Disappeared Whole Love - Open Mind I'm guessing there is more consensus on these than the favorite track thread!
  14. AM: Casino Queen BT: I Got You MA: One by One ST: Shot in the Arm MA2: Secret of the Sea YHF: War on War AGIB: Spiders SBS: Hate it Here W(TA): One Wing TWL: Whole Love I didn't realize how many of the songs are just okay on the last three albums. The first albums were very difficult to pick just one song and then the last three were hard to find a single song. I didn't realize I felt this way about the catalog...

    Pat Sansone

Saw a tweet that Pat is a prize for the winner of The NewSong Music Competition. An EP Recorded and Mixed by Producer, Musician and Songwriter Pat Sansone (Wilco, The Autumn Defense) at Asheville, NC’s Echo Mountain Recording Studios https://www.newsong-music.com/contest-information/#/prizes/
  16. Wasn't able to get one before they were gone. PM me if you have an extra! Thanks!
  17. Pat Sansone in a few hours!
  18. It was a really fun show. First show of their tour and I think it took Adam a little time to show personality (mid set). He's a great singer. Queen's catalog is so awesome. It was just fun to watch the songs be performed by the band with a big production. Brian was worth the price alone. I'd never seen him play. They did all the hits and some deep cuts too.
  19. I attended this benefit concert last night. The beneficiary was "A Foundation to be Named Later" which I understand to be Theo Epstein's baby. Theo is the GM of the Chicago Cubs. The bill was headlined by Tom Morello, John Stirrat, Jimmy Chamberlin, Peter Gammons, Scott Lucas and a ton of others. Len Kasper who is the Cubs play-by-play announcer also performed and put most of the music together. There were some strange combinations and in general they stuck to Chicago related songs. The night opened with "The Chicago Allstars" doing a set of songs highlighted by two Urge Overkill songs. The
  20. Hot Stove Cool Music charity show at Metro - Tom Morello, John Stiratt, Theo etc. Quite a different show from last night (Queen)
  21. I was thinking about this too. The only secret show type scenarios I can think of (within the last 14 years) are the Rahm Emanuel benefit where he played 3 songs (all Beyonce covers) and then once makin a guest appearance with the Bottle Rockets for 1 or 2 songs. There was a show at the Hideout in the Leroy-Glenn-John-Jeff era, but I don't know that it was a secret.
