124 days since the last Wilco show. That number seems destined to stretch until at least June which would put the break at 230 days. Their longest break ever between shows was 226 days (Sept '10 - May '11) leading up to The Whole Love. I miss Wilco live shows...

There once was a day where Wilco was the Jeff Tweedy backup band. Seems that the band has stabilized its lineup but maybe at the expense of letting Jeff record the styles he wants to??

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
nalafej replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
I would agree with indy81. Bruce puts on a great show, but you don't sound sold on it. You have to go in with a good attitude. I don't listen to Bruce at home, but I've seen him 3-4 times and it is a fun show. Better now with a big band too imo. -

Tweedy Nominated for Producer of the Year Grammy
nalafej replied to Head in a Guillotine's topic in Just A Fan
Probably within the last 45 minutes of the show. If you are fast forwarding, the teacher was recognized by the President of the Academy (who was on stage with Ryan Seacrest and I think John Legend). The teacher had a huge beard - Kris Noveselic style. Jeff is a couple rows behind the teacher. -

I'm a Metallica fan and can say that their performance pretty much just sucked. Saw Tweedy in the audience when they were recognizing the teacher of the year. He stood up to give him a standing O (oh oh). -

Looks like Jeff is at the Grammys. Good luck dude! Edit: Lost to Pharrell Williams. Cheesy statement, but it should be honor to have been nomimated I think. Great company. -
I will second that. I rarely get past the first two songs because they are so good.

I need to check out Rich's releases (and live show), but my favorite solo album is Marc's first: It's About Time. Not your typical lead guitar player solo album. From there, New Earth Mud's second album (This Magnificant Distance) is also great. I agree with the comments on CRB.

As long as we are pointing these things out, Jon is not an original member. No idea why he was brought in back in '91 though.

Superchunk were great!! How did I not get into these guys earlier? Definitely adding them to my "must see when they are in town" list (it is a short list). Great energy and intensity. Just love that voice. Bass player, Jason Narducy, is great. He fronted the opening band, Split Single, as well and they were also very good.

Superchunk tonight. Pretty excited. First time seeing them...

Autumn Defense went on at 11pm. The venue's acoustics are terrible and it was clear during the first songs they played that the sound wasn't good on stage either. Pat was constantly giving direction for his monitors between songs. I have to admit to leaving because of the sound after about 6 songs. It was a decent sized crowd, but they weren't attentive at the beginning of Autumn Defense's set and there was a fair amount of chatter in the back during Giving Tree Band's set too. Looking forward to/hoping to see Autumn Defense at Lincoln Hall or somewhere with great sound (Space in Evansto

My first time at Concord was last night. It is a really terrible venue. Looks nice enough, but the sound competes with the Aragon for worst in the City by my ears. Felt bad for the AD from a sound standpoint - they appeared to be having the same issue from the stage. And then there was the crowd, who barely noticed they were on the stage...

I'm going. I don't know the answer to your question. Based on the limited info, I would guess they go on around 10:45. I'm figuring that based on the below logic Doors 8 Dick Prall 8:45-9:15 Giving Tree 9:45-10:15 AD 10:45-11:45 Leagues 12:15-1:30 I could be way off...

I usually get to the Vic right when doors open and am able to get a spot within the first third of the ground floor. Like hinko says, it depends where you want to be.

Gush: Top cd I came across in 2013. In large part due to the Sound Opinions radio show/podcast. They killed it at Pitchfork this summer too. Also a great fast tempo album that is fun to run to and I did a lot of that last year. Highly encourage all to check them out.

Jeff Tweedy - 6 jan 14 at the Up Comedy Club Chicago
nalafej replied to Spoodledude's topic in After The Show
It was a fun evening. I thought the comedy was great - especially the headliners Mike and Aidy. Jeff came out around 8:30 and played to about 10:00PM. He mentioned early in the set that he hadn't picked up a guitar in 3 weeks and I have to say that it showed. A fair amount of bum notes throughout the evening. Jeff also mentioned not feeling like playing music. He had his cell phone on the table with the setlist and harmonicas and was looking at it between songs and in some cases during songs. Lots of jokes about texts coming in and how popular he was including texts from Beck, Weir and, s -
