  1. As a follow-up, Wilco got beat. Here is Grantland's summary of the matchup today: It's Better to Be in da Club Than in da Dining Room, Feeding da Kids Mac and Cheese[4] "In da Club," 50 Cent (WINNER: 48,909) [13] "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart," Wilco (18,629) As a Dad Rock American* besieged on all sides by hip-hop fans each and every workday, maybe I held out a silly hope that things would turn out differently, that a groundswell of Jeff Tweedy partisans might rise up from the comments sections of every NPR message board on the Internet and overcome the tyranny of the iconic club-banger
  2. Very silly, but I was surprised to see that Wilco's IATTBYK made the tournament. Going up against 50 Cent and currently losing 70% to 20%. The picture of Wilco is funny too since it is an animation (?) of the 2004-2013 band and not the makers of the song. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9571566/battle-best-song-millennium-round-64

  4. This article is an interesting and amusing read. CROSSED PATHS: MUSICIANS JOHN & LAURIE STIRRATT RECALL TIME SPENT WITH ALEX CHILTON http://southernglossary.com/features/2013/7/28/crossed-paths-john-laurie-stirratt
  5. Looks like the AD changed the date and will now play on the 10th. "Excited to announce we are playing a @aclfestival show on Oct 10th at @lambertsbbq with @Desertnoises & @BlueBearBand http://goo.gl/awSVs1 "
  6. Stirratt, Jay Bennett and Ken Coomer formed Courtesy Move, an early Wilco side project that recorded an album in late 1996 that was never released. I'm going to have to read the book again. I don't remember it being an issue. Tweedy was doing Golden Smog in 1995.
  7. Is the topic regarding election cycles starting earlier and earlier not an acceptable topic? I enjoyed reading through the gun conversation. I learned quite a bit.
  8. Right. This would be the place on VC to do it. I get that it is a conversation happening on the cable tv stations and elsewhere in the country as well. I wish that conversation didn't take away from the discussion that should be happening on health care, human rights, the middle east and other topics. People seem to enjoy the contest aspect of politics a lot more than actually tackling the issues.
  9. Why are we already talking about an election that is three years away?
  10. AD just tweeted: youtu.be/-hBaoKNI2Is Pat's performance of Waltz #2 (XO) at No Name #1, The Elliot Smith tribute in NYC this past weekend. #elliotsmith

    Old Maid

Old Maid and Pecan Pie go hand in hand. I hope you found Golden Smog during the long VC weekender...
  13. Can't wait for the final wrap up. I just went through the list of guests and it is really amazing. They range from up and coming of avant-garde musicians to the hall of famiest musicians around. Nancy Sinatra Jackson Browne John Doe Bob Weir Beck Sean Lennon Warren Haynes Ian Hunter Richard Thompson Leslie Feist Garth Hudson My Morning Jacket Ryan Bingham Low Cibo Matto Lucius Richard Bowden Taras Prodaniuk Michael Jerome Roger Manning James Mastro
  14. I wasn't impressed with the list or the voters of the list.
  15. It comes off as arrogant. The last straw for me would be if they go into real estate
  16. No, Wilco doesn't dodge questions. They are very open. I just don't know why they would participate in an article about Wilco Inc.
  17. Reason: Lose artistic credibility. Comes off as arrogant. Opens up a range of questions about the reason behind there actions: artist decision? business decision etc.
  18. Why did Wilco participate in this article? They want us to understand how smart they are? How rich they are? Forget how lackluster WTA was?
  19. Pearl Jam if I can find a ticket under $250 which isn't looking likely
  20. can't wait to see PC at Pitchfork next weekend. The cd is great.
  21. Fun. & Delta Spirit for free at Taste of Chicago tonight
  22. Great write up. Quite a bit different from the '08 opening for Neil Young tour where they did the same ol' same ol'
  23. These setlists are great. Night after night. Reminds me of the 2003 tour opening for REM - mixing it up big time even given the time constraints.
