Hi - I was across from you at dinner. I think the band/ management forgot about the on stage request aspect. After hearing nothing and more nothing from them leading up to the show, I sent an email about 4 hours before the gates opened: "Hey [taking out name] We are on the way and are looking forward to the weekend. Quick question- do you have details on the following:"and a chance to pick a song live onstage for Wilco to perform during the band’s all-request set on the festival’s opening night." Do I get to make a request? If so, awesome, how does this go down?" Coincidentally (I think n

Wish Weir was playing more dates... -
Interesting way to look at it. I wouldn't have thought of it. Writing songs for somebody else to sing seems quite different from a solo album to me. The Chelsea Walls soundtrack on the other hand would be my pick for the closest things to a solo album from Jeff.

As an update, the golden ticket winners do not get to request a song Friday. One was picked out of a hat to choose a song for sat night. Wasn't me. Be at SS shortly... The band went to a game in the middle of the winter residency. John even did Score-O. That said, who knows if they really cared about the outcome...

Best opener I've seen (will probably catch flak for this): Welcome to the Jungle. 1/1/2001. First "GNR" show in 7+ years - Buckethead, Brain, Tommy Stinson - pretty intense opening for a show that started around 3 in the morning.

Will Jeff be the Special Guest for the Stones tonight?

I was at the show last night. I thought it might be cool to see Swift, but it sounded pretty terrible. -
Yes, kidding. I am also not sure how we submit our request.

The 2001 & 2003 incarnations of Wilco did pull the song off without horns. I doubt they'll have a ton of time to rehearse the song and agree they may pass on playing it. Maybe I should just request Impossible Germany.

Thanks (all)! I'm really excited. I do feel very very lucky. I bought two bars. Opened one right away and was going to save the 2nd as a souvenir, but three days later thought better of that, opened it and found the ticket. I was shocked to say the least. I went to SS1 and had a great time. My wife is coming with this time and we are staying at a motel in Pittsfield and paid too much for my flight, but it will all be worth it. If it works for Wilco, my request is going to be Pieholden Suite. It is the only great song (besides Sunloathe which I expect we're going to hear at SS) I have yet t

Very late to the game. Anyone have an extra hotel room they don't need?

I went to the show in Chicago last weekend. The bass players were unique to each band - Saul and Victor. Although I know that that is not always the case and Saul sometimes plays CVB's set and Victor Crackers. They do take a break between bands. David did change shirts. Otherwise, besides the actual songs (which are way different) Johnny is an amazing guitar player which is a major difference from CVB. He's also known to smile - something you don't see in CVB.
