  1. They are pretty all pretty much Second City members or alumni. A bunch have been doing it for so long that even though they've moved to LA and hit the big time (Sonic Burger/ Stranger Than Fiction) they flew in. Most of the 24 hour ers have been doing it for multiple years. I don't think you can catch them in their own show together. Like Heather said, it is a one night a year thing.
  2. I left at two and have some additional comments. Jeff was in great spirits and is to be commended for coming to this event year after year and raising so much money. Three living room auctions went for $20,000 each. Just awesome that people support this cause and that amount keeps going up year after year. I know there are people on this list involved - way to go! The gentleman in the back was able to play along with Jeff on what looked like an invisible kazoo during his song! Very coordinated. To give everyone the idea, Sunken Treasure cost between $200-300. California Stars went for $800 a
  3. Greg Kot wrote a review that is on the tribune's site:
  4. Jeff was mic'd for Someone Else's Song, but at the highest notes he would lean away from the mic and you could actually hear him much clearer. I have seen him do tha before (at the end of I Am Trying to Break Your Heart when solo for example) and it is really neat.
  5. I've heard of the Changes and think they are pretty good. Anybody know anything about the others? Canasta and the Cool Kids.
  6. Thanks for the list. Good stuff.
  7. It was a great show. I'll call it the best talent show I've ever seen. Jeff was the last performer before the allstar jam at the end. He came out solo and played (in order) Someone Else's Song, Remember the Mountain Bed, Acuff-Rose and then was joined by the Wilco ensemble (Ken Drost, Andrew Frost, Elise Brooks, Tom Ryan and Aimee Tierra) for What Light and California Stars. The crowd was pretty receptive to him. I thought Someone Else's Song was his best number. My favorites of the night were Abigail Washburn w/ Bela Fleck and Frank Hamilton and friends. How cool is it that Frank played t
  8. I like those song titles and that they'll be playing the album in full on tour.
  9. Any word on what there will be auctions for this year?
  10. Anyone else thinking he'll play something new at the Auditorium Saturday? I wonder if we'll know how long his set is going to be prior to the show?
  11. Very interesting article. I think I just learned something on vc. whoh.
  12. Has anyone else tried the Wendy's breakfast? It is aweful! The put eggs on a room temperature bun and throw and fake kraft single on top. It is a really bad combination. Give me McDonald's breakfast any day. I've done the Krystal thing in New Orleans I believe. I would say it is right on par with White Castle.
  13. This is great news, but....we need a Kalamazoo Oberon!
  14. Best Moment: Macrome and the Shake it Off "Whoo" in Indianapolis Missed Moment: Not getting to see Either Way, Leave Me Like You Found Me, What Light or Patient With Me performed by the band.
  15. i watched the black crowes. having problems now. Anyone sill in?
  16. So the Black Crowes opened for Wilco...just a little different than HORDE. I wonder if Chris will join them for Casino Queen like Wilcrowe....
  17. The Cardinals play Note to self: Don't Die???
  18. I should mention that Jeff said that Charlottesville was the last real show in the United States this year.
  19. It is really great news. She/ they are so good.
  20. Hopefully they'll streem it online like they did with the Yankee Australia/ More Like the Moon cd...
  21. That is a great story. Thank you so much for sharing. I can't imagine the night you had that night (although now I kind of can). What a cool thing.
  22. I think they do a pretty good job. The internet is the big problem. Side with the Seeds has a great intro right now. Spiders is really different than the last tour, and neither of those versions match the pre AGIB versions. Cars Can't Escape with feedback at the end into Spiders? That is changing it up. I actually looked at last nights set compared to the previous show I saw (Indianapolis) and it was really different. And last night compared to Kicking Television isn't even close to the same set.
  23. I think a kid would enjoy. Mostly upbeat music. They jump all over the place and wear sunglasses.
  24. Golden Oldies tonight They played Box Full of Letters, Casino Queen, Too Far Apart, Red Eyed and Blue, I Got You, Misunderstood, Outta Mind, A Shot in the Arm, War on War, I'm the Man Who Loves You, I am Trying to Break Your Heart, Cars Can't Escape, Jesus Etc, Pot Kettle Black, Heavy Metal Drummer, Spiders, Hummingbird, Handshake Drugs, You Are My Face, Hate it Here, Walken, On & On & On, Impossible Germany, Side with The Seeds, California Stars A great night for Wilco and a great night for Chicago. They nailed it.
  25. Presale is going on. Very excited for the show.
