  1. A greatest hits collection? Ugh.
  2. The new Jenny Lewis is great. I highly recommend it. I've also had They Want My Soul on constant rotation. I think it's one of their best. I'd probably rank it third behind Girls Can Tell and Gimme Fiction and just in front of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and Kill the Moonlight.
  3. The legs that this has and the money it has raised is remarkable.
  4. Gotcha. I didn't mean to imply that you were getting ripped off or anything...it just seemed like a lot of money.
  5. Steven Hyden is one of the best music writers out there.
  6. Am I the only one not entirely comfortable with posting the full text of the article in a post? Doesn't seem right to me. And Footnote 4 was a great note on Jeff's other son, the executive producer.
  7. No, it's correct. He's saying the band at that point was joined by Nels and Pat...to go with the relatively recent additions of Glenn and Mikael (who were already in the band).
  8. This one isn't bad. My one concern about the upcoming album is its length. Especially with so many of these songs sounding similar. Who knows? Maybe it will all come together on the album and turn into a masterpiece.
  9. Wow. My wife is a grinder and she's used a simple mouthpiece for the last 10-15 years.
  10. Thanks for the heads up! I've really been looking forward to this one too.
  11. He admits to "breaking" this rule twice and offers explanations. For Sly and the Family Stone: Sometimes reading helps.
  12. It's a good read and it's hard to really argue with any of his choices. It does illustrate how bad of a period it is collectively for American bands right now when The Black Keys is the champion for the last four years.
  13. No. There are a couple of songs on AGIB which definitely feature quiet vocals, but nothing like what we're hearing now. The vocals on these new songs all have a breathiness to them. It's different from what he did on ALTWYS and Hell is Chrome (which are really the only songs on AGIB that you could draw a comparison to...maybe Muzzle of Bees too).
  14. I think it's one of the main things that has been bothering me about the solo stuff so far.
  15. All of Jeff's vocals in the songs that have been released from Sukierae seem restrained and wispy. It's strange to me. Is he singing differently? Has this topic been addressed recently? Is it something just for the solo album?
  16. Interesting. I hadn't heard that before, and I was obsessed with that album. Gimme Fiction was the turning point for me. A friend of mine had tried to get me to listen to Spoon before then, but I never really gave them a chance. Then I heard that album and everything finally clicked.
  17. This album has exceeded my expectations. I've practically been playing it on a continuous loop for the past two days.
  18. That logjam is Example #892 of why it is unwise to extend young players so early, which is why we're currently unable to move Elvis.
  19. Profar is 21 years old. I've never seen a fan base give up so easily on a young player than a lot of Rangers fans have.
  20. Girls Can Tell is their best. But there has been no decline. It has been one strong album after another ever since.
  21. My anticipation for this album is about as off the charts as it can get. The three songs that are out there right now are incredible. Britt Daniel is about as good as it gets.
  22. I was going to post it, but I fell asleep while listening to the song so I never got around to it.
  23. I fully embrace it, but it's still my least favorite on that album. It's a great album.
  24. The greatest moment on this board. That thread should be pinned and immortalized.
