  1. I love both artists, but Spoon existed many years before The White Stripes and had two albums out before The White Stripes' debut. I also don't hear much influence between the two. And Yield is a great album
  2. Of course it is. But it's not okay to like beer that nobody should like.
  3. Not really. My first suggestion is to stop drinking PBR.
  4. The volume of bad beer being consumed makes me sad.
  5. This is $15?!?!?!?!?!?!? Good lord.
  6. The song they have playing on the website is great! Looking forward to this one.
  7. I definitely want to hear more of Jeff on lead guitar. I personally think having Nels there initiated the creative downturn of Wilco. But that's another topic. Looking forward to hearing the new stuff.
  8. Great, great movie. Easily one of my favorite movies of all-time. Actually, Jennifer Lopez can act and was very good in this role (as well as Selena and Blood and Wine). I've always thought that she could have been a truly great actress if she had only focused on that instead of music, and stuck to meaty and interesting roles like these that she had early in her career.
  9. Corn tortillas are superior for everything else. Just not breakfast tacos.
  10. Flour tortillas are essential for the greatest of all tacos -- the breakfast taco.
  11. There's nothing stopping you.
  12. Why would you put beans in chili? That makes no sense.
  13. Tacos begin and end with carnitas. Otherwise, you're doing them wrong.
  14. I assume you mean high school, which I was just able to sing in my head. Playing sports throughout school where we sang the school song after every game certainly helped with the recall. College was easy. I've known "The Eyes of Texas" since I was a kid.
  15. They've done that with "Angels and Fuselage" before. Always a highlight.
  16. English Oceans has been the only real disappointment for me this year, unfortunately.
  17. I know we're not quite at the halfway mark yet, but I think this year has already been a fantastic year for new music (and the new Spoon album hasn't even come out yet). Right now, my pick for best album is: Le Butcherettes - Cry is for the Flies I cannot get enough of it and it is easily the most excited I've been about a new album in a few years. Other great albums so far: St. Vincent - St. Vincent Lykke Li - I Never Learn Liars - Mess Wye Oak - Shriek La Sera - Hour of the Dawn Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else The Hold Steady - Teeth Dreams Beck - Morning Phase EMA - The Fut
  18. And they still have one of the worst run differentials in the league. Has not been a great start for the good guys.
  19. Threads like these make me sad. Unfortunately, they always pop up. I also can't even imagine how anyone "can't stand" great bands like Spoon, Radiohead, The Beach Boys, The Clash, My Bloody Valentine, The National, The White Stripes, Pavement, The Ramones, Talking Heads, etc. Whatever.
  20. Are The Cars still not in? If not, that will always remain the biggest snub for me.
  21. This is a fascinating look at how partisanship has completely taken over politics. Not that we weren't aware of it already, but the graphs serve as stark visual reminders of it. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2014/04/10/the-ideological-middle-is-dead-in-congress-really-dead/
  22. I don't think you would have to self-police it. It's magic. If you've heard it before, it would just be silence. At least, that's how I'm interpreting it.
  23. So you get to listen to all the new music you want to, and you have nice built-in bathroom/bar breaks at concerts. Win-win.
  24. The results so far aren't too surprising. There's a reason oldies formats on the radio (top hits from the '80s & '90s!) are so prevalent. And why most of the artists discussed in this thread are well beyond their prime.
