I will be attending my first NFL game ever this Sunday at the new Cowboys Stadium. And then I'll be going to the Big 12 Championship game there two weeks later. Very excited.

I was at home from work on a sick day and watched a UFO Hunters marathon on The History Channel. All about the Men in Black, the new Area 51 (some place near Salt Lake City), underground caverns near the Grand Canyon, etc. Great way to spend an afternoon on the couch.

I think I have the argument over BTCD with a friend of mine at least twice a week.

The Truckers last two albums are so substandard in my eyes, that it would be hard to justify their inclusion. I would definitely have The Hold Steady on there and possibly The National, in addition to my other three, but this is all off the top of my head. Definitely Neko and Wilco.

What The Hell Happened to Hell Is Chrome?

One of their best songs, period. And definitely a hell of an opener. -
Spoon, Califone, and The White Stripes should be on this list.

2002 was a weak crop of nominees, especially considering other possibilities: City of God (although this might technically be a 2003 release...don't remember) In America Adaptation. About Schmidt Far From Heaven About a Boy Roger Dodger

It depends on how you define getting them right or wrong. For instance, I think Chicago and Shakespeare in Love were good choices. Arguable whether they were the absolute best movie of the year or of the nominees (I would say they were the best of the nominees), but still worthy choices. Crash, Return of the King, Gladiator, and English Patient are the only really bad or suspect winners of the last 20 years.

What's the consensus on Wilco (The Album)?
bleedorange replied to Shining Sunbeam's topic in Just A Fan
I read it as him thanking God that Wilco doesn't have songs that sound like the ones that currently sit in the Top 40. -
What's the consensus on Wilco (The Album)?
bleedorange replied to Shining Sunbeam's topic in Just A Fan
I've done a complete 180 on "Can't Stand It." Maybe it has something to do with seeing it live lately, but that's a great song. And Wilco has plenty of other songs that sound more "radio-friendly" to my ears. -
Now I remember why I was an independent all those years.

It has led to a large influx of doctors to the state in areas that were previously underserved and the number of people with access to quality healthcare has definitely increased, and the number of doctors getting licensed in Texas has outpaced the population growth. Don't let statistics cloud the results. Texas is an expansive state with very poor regions in the south and the west. It's unfortunate that we still remain low on the list, but progress is being made. I suppose it is arguable how much tort reform has impacted that progress, but it seems silly to ignore it as a factor. -

Tort reform has worked down here. -
Finding a good record store here is next to impossible, unless I want to drive 45 minutes to Dallas. But if I can find the CD at a big box store, I'll buy it. More often than not, I'm downloading off emusic or Amazon.

Big win for the Cowboys, who now face three winnable games in a row: Green Bay in Lambeau and Washington and Oakland at home. If they can get to 9-2 heading into the final stretch of the season, an 11- or 12-win season is definitely within reach. This Packers game is pretty big.
