  1. Jonathan Richman European Tour Dates - October 2006 Known dates for the coming tour... SCOTLAND Thursday, 12th October
  2. Cardiff boy. My sister's best friend was once in hospital next to his mum. He came to visit, like the well brought up lad he is. His band was always spot on anyway - Dave Edmunds production etc. Also who knew? The secret behind the green door:- So, Shakin' Stevens - almost as legendary as Peter Singh, The Rocking Sikh http://www.aardvarkcymru.co.uk/singh.htm
  3. She's a real trooper. It's a classic. Jack White is to be commended.
  4. All things in moderation. As long as there's not too many threads, especially in the other more serious forum areas, which can put off new Wilco fans who aren't here for the funny, and that wouldn't be a good thing. Here it's plain Bedlam amongst consenting adults, as far as I'm concerned - though personally I don't get into attacking individuals much - just can't be arsed. Just ignoring obvious attention seekers works best it seems to me.
  5. Its Marine Boy, Brave and Free! Fighting evil 'neath the sea. He is a boy, a very special boy Powered by Propeller Shoes, flying Sub Ahoy! Whooshing through the water on a friendly dolphin's back Racing to the rescue of victims of attack. In a flash, he'll foil the foe With a quick boomarang throw! Our friend from the sea to the end Is our Marine Boy. Wow, when was the last time I thought about oxy-gum?
  6. "All mouth and no trousers" would seem a fitting description.
  7. I am awaiting todays beehive from Flick, and wondering what was happening at the dirty raincoat brigade convention here last night. Must remind you of one of your goat stories M. Chris?
  8. Like I was saying ... (1) They're Welsh (2) Kelly Jones has got one of my favourite male voices of anyone around at present. Over a couple of albums they can get a bit samey (but I would say the same about the Black Crowes), plus alot of other people, but their best I like alot. Just straight forward rock'n'roll with a killer growl. And if you don't feel bothered to check it out - how about Stereophonics plus the Black Crowes, that must be some sort of recommendation as far as you're concerned? Stereophonics plus the Black Crowes - Rainbows and Pots of Gold - http://www.youtube.com/w
  9. Super Calexico Ballistic, X-Ecutioners Are Atrocious (festival review headline)
  10. MTV/TMC/etc. etc. Bankrupted After Massive Drop in Audience Viewing Figures BTW - nice topic idea

  12. Though the truth is that I am really turned off by the (successful) attempts to get something of the same scale going in the UK as it's all fuelled by commercial pressures and isn't a natural native celebration for us (in the trick or treat and party sense - old style All Hallows Eve could be a natural native celebration of course - but it never really was to any extent, unless you lived in a weird village in the middle of the woods). Guy Fawkes night is enough for me.
  13. I could be interested, as long as it's not like that Buddah film with Keanu Reeves.
  14. Well we shot the line and we went for broke With a thousand screamin' trucks And eleven long-haired Friends O' Jesus In a chartreuse micro-bus Uh, Rubber Duck to Sod Buster Come on there, yeah, 10-4 Sod Buster Listen, you wanna put that micro-bus in behind that suicide jockey? Yeah, he's haulin' dynamite and he needs all the help he can get
  15. Thanks for the offer, but I will decline right now - just feeling a bit lazy to organise postage etc. Maybe I can take you up on that sometime in the future, or if you need some the the small number of Wilco/JT solo shows I have and want to do a straight swap (which is assuming that you don't bit-torrent etc. like me, otherwise you'll probably have enough shows to be getting on with). BTW welcome to VC too - haven't noticed you as one of the small gang of Brit regulars before. EDIT - also the YHF Engineers Demos which are essential.
  16. I thought about Cat Power as I love The Greatest so much, but I'm going to the Roundhouse to see Calexico within a few days of it, and I was put off a bit by some of the things I'd heard about flaky performances. I saw a great YouTube of her on a US TV show though. I might have a last minute change of mind.
  17. I sense a trend. And I quite approve. The last time I saw something like that it was three weeks ago in an original episode of Star Trek.
  18. By August she was mine... Probably my favourite. Closely followed by Stop Stop Stop Paula Dancing ... And that was the best stuff Nash did if you ask me - I don't like CSN much. So Oiik, or whatever (which I don't).
  19. Yes. I also thought of you this morning when listening to The Sterophonics - You Gotta Go There To Come Back. Maybe you'll think it's crap, but ( a ) they're Welsh ( b ) Kelly Jones has got a real Python Lee Jackson ( ) voice thing going on - which might be right up your street. He covered Handbags and Gladrags once too.
  20. One of my other favourite Drill Instructor's is in Bolixo Blues (end WWII not Vietnam). That reminds me - there's a reality TV show here (which must be about the best of the bunch as it actually serves some purpose) whereby a bunch of youthful petty criminals are sent off for a few months for a 1950s style army compulsory service regime - complete with original ex-sergeants. No censorship of swearing after 9pm on UK TV. Good stuff. It is actually quite heartwarming to see some of those lads truly have their lives turned around as they learn a bit of self respect, confidence, and bond as a gr
