I really really wish it was a cover of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f35JyHY38a0 -
5 days to go until Wales visit Twickenham for what looks like being the Six Nations decider. Memories of last autumn and here's hoping for the same result. Something to get in the mood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7iS18wUglY The same day, London Irish play one of their Premiership fixtures in New Jersey. Will be interesting to see how popular it turns out to be. A cursory glance at ticketing and it looks a bit pricey? http://www.london-irish.com/news/lets-turn-new-jersey-green%2C-says-london-irishs-luke-narraway/bp757/ Also, possible visit by the Lions on their way to NZ next

The Night Manager - Le Carre done with a James Bond budget and more time. Excellent so far. Trapped - murder afoot in Iceland

Wonder if it has roped in any songs from what was the stated second TWEEDY album that is somewhere preserved in aspic. Always seemed like Taste The Ceiling came from that direction. Perhaps JT can't keep those songs locked up until Spencer graduates, or maybe he really has been as abnormally productive in the last couple of years as I think he has expressed.

He he. Still waiting for the announcement of a second night in London though ...

Long Ryders are back (for a while)
Albert Tatlock replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Someone Else's Song
Ta. I have always liked what I've known of Sid and those make me like him more. Apart from the BBC Gram doc, he also made a good one on Gene Clark. -
Retrospective issued and mini European and US tour this year http://www.thelongryders.com I still remember the first time I saw them on TV back in 85. That triggered a long journey of Americana discovery since then. And here it is, with everyones favourite 1980s DJ and professional northerner, Andy Kershaw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7izEcpYZeVY So, never did see them back then as I lived far from the bright lights of old London town (did get to that same venue for Los Lobos and Jonathan Richman in those days), but just got a ticket for the reunion tour. Happy camper.

Bi-2 an indie band that have been around for a while, split, moved to Israel, reformed, and recently have been performing these orchestra arranged versions of their songs. Some gorgeous melodies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urHZSlIYLWg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oy18PplQrqQ Discovered by random catching them on foreign TV on Sunday night.

Albert Tatlock replied to remphish1's topic in Just A Fan
No ability to make song requests now on WilcoWorld. Temporary maintenance or permanent withdrawal? I feel disenfranchised. -

Banter Corner worthy of Julian and Sandy JT seems to be pushing for a new entry in the polari dictionary. Isn't he bold! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJnj3LFtYSY&list=PL2D9E602CE0F695B4 ( skip to 20:20 ) -

An audible murmur among the commuters on the train as the news broke. More of a greatest hits fan myself, but of course recognise the enormity of his contribution. Sorrow is one of my favourite cover songs, and at the time when I came closest to ever strutting my stuff, Modern Love was one of the tunes to be on my feet to. As an aside, ex-wife Angie is stuck in the Celebrity Big Brother house on UK TV. Suppose she will get the option of leaving, though from some of her barbed comments she might not be too bothered ...

I can't remember what the occasion was, but I'm pretty sure that JS once had a playlist on a podcast/radio segment some time ago that featured Ernie (The Fastest Milkman in the West). Hope that makes it into this list. Ghostly gold tops indeed.

QE2. I did not know that she signs the commissioning document/certificate for each officer in the army. I was with an ex-Royal Marines officer who was commissioned in 1972. Very clear and simple apart from the z looking like a j.

Two days ago I saw an original document signed by Beria and Stalin, with Stalin's being in a childish blue pencil scrawl. A couple of hours earlier I held a paper signed by Queen Elizabeth. Quite chilling - the Stalin signature not Liz's.
