  1. Don't usually get too worked up by setlists as generally its all good, but I have to say that I noticed that no BBN, no Walken, no Ashes, and no Kingpin - meaning that all my Wilco peccadillos would have been satisfied, and I can't remember that happening before

  3. Maybe Sir Nicholas read this thread - probably one of your avid setlist fans by now ... Maybe it's alredy happened, along with about 70,000 others ...
  4. Whole lot of shaking going on over here indeed. Glad you like Geraint - Cardiff (or very near Cardiff) boy. I think I posted a YouTube link to him doing Only A Rose with Nick a while back (forget which thread exactly). Hope Nick gives him a few minutes in the spotlight on this tour if you are following him around.
  5. Disc Three Apart from When The Roses Bloom Again (which has always been great), Listening To The Wind That Blows has that mournful cracked voice JT that first attracted me to Mermaid Avenue in particular and Wilco in general. Ditto Chain Of Broken Hearts. Ain'ta Gonna Grieve less so but still better than The Jolly Banker, which unfortunately I never took to. As for Billy, Go Down To The Water is great, since I'm a sucker for that sad old British/Irish folk melody type thing. It's like the best blues music - you know exactly what's coming, but it still gets you inside. My Thirty Thousand, Ja
  6. Ta! Set me thinking what my request would be. By coincidence (Propinquity) Ive Just Begun To Care by Mike Nesmith popped up on iTunes. That would sound pretty good with JT's vocals I think. Anyways ...
  7. I also thought it was one of those 'it has to be done' things a couple of years ago when I saw Brian with the Wondermints, and I enjoyed it tremendously. God Only Knows was just the best. Brian was more lucid and active than I expected so it didn't feel like a freak show. The Wondermints were the key component though - no idea if they are involved here. Thanks for thevreport.
  8. Far too kind - nice to see you! Now it really is time for heads under wings, beaks under blankets.
  9. Cream crackered (= knackered) Need an early night.
  10. I was under the impression that you had managed to get to one at some point a while back. Maybe not then - the memory is not what it was ... I can't see how it can be turned into a negative for anyone - being there or not. As a Brit I feel very lucky to have seen 3 solo shows, with one feeling as intimate as a living room show (without the embarrasing stumbling conversation that would inevitably result in my case) so perhaps that helps. I'm also far too tight to spend that much money, and they're just an excellent source of banter, and I'm all about the banter, so that's why I enjoy reading ab
  11. God bless the BBC. BTW The Killing Series 2 was a bit of a letdown, so don't bother with that. It missed the strand that the first series had regarding the effect on the bereaved family (the actress playing the mother was marvellous), and its political strand was not so compelling. Everyone found themselves calling out 'TRRROOOELS' from time to time :-) The Swedish Wallander series is excellent too - slow moving and atmospheric, and all this stuff is so well shot.
  12. Very few have taken on the Beatles and won
  13. The Bridge (Bron/Broen) http://en.wikipedia....edish_TV_series) Shaping up very nicely after 4 episodes, almost approaching The Killing (Forbrydelsen) standards - just about the best thing ever on TV (don't mention the US remake) http://en.wikipedia....anish_TV_series) Haunting theme to The Bridge has been in my head a lot:- Kicks off just after 3 minutes
  14. Well, here's something in a blog that's turned up in the public domain by a certain someone from here. Thank you for that (and of course I will always owe you for HSB!) http://easilyfooled.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/people-say-im-crazy-doing-what-im-doing.html
  15. "Bugger off. We paid for them and they were private" is a perfectly acceptable and understandable response. Maybe the Tweedys prefer it that way now. I actually have never listened to a tape of one of these, as I think that being there would be everything, but I have enjoyed reading bits of gossip in the past (both the actual facts contained and the enthsiasm with which these events are described) and am hoping that some attendees might chime in this year. (I have no idea if any have even happened yet ...) Ta very much in advance. Alternatively, reading your choice alternatives to "B
  16. Seems to be a regular subject for Mikael's twitter stuff and instagrams. His name is Peter apparently. Ouch ...
  17. An hour in concert. Could also be in the underrated thread ... The Live at the Captains Rest is my favourite Live album ever ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug2OkZPX3jI
