I'm actually digging the live versions more myself, but...I do really appreciate the unique angle of the studio tracks as well. With so many of the songs appearing on the pretty readily available shows from Mt. Jam, Nashville/Ryman & Newport, there was no way I could resist not digging in. Especially since I was going to the Baltimore & D.C. shows & got the dozen songs from Mt. Jam for the road trip down there. At this point, I've gotten to know 17 of the 20 songs from the album, & I couldn't be more thrilled... of course 8 of them are studio tracks, with the 9th coming- pres

What does anyone here know anything about this song or about Diane Izzo? WOW! This show contains a rare full band Tweedy cover deceased Chicago singer-songwriter Diane Izzo's great song "Love Like a Wire". It's a totally stunning performance of an equally stunning song!! This is my first encounter with it. I am so blown away that I just requested it online for the Ithaca show. If there are any more Tweedy shows that are planned as Roadcase releases I truly hope they consider putting this in the set list for an official release. This band does a killer "Give Back The Keys To My Heart" (not to

Reviving this thread, as we approach the last of the 8 per-release downloads for those who've pre-ordered. I'm betting it's leaked today & then, of course, it's availability will be Monday. I'm hoping it's something that isn't out there, but betting, more likely, that it'll be one of the ones we've already experienced in some manner (from live shows etc.). I'm hoping if it's one we know that it'll be "Honeycombed" ( or "Slow Love"), but I'm betting it'll be "World Away" (or "I'll Sing It")...though I kind of wish that it'd be one of the three tracks that remain total mysteries (the album's

I'm went to the show in Baltimore & D.C. earlier this year (not knowing how many shows would happen, nor where) & am now going to the Tweedy/Jeff Tweedy shows in both Ithaca & Buffalo, sooooooooo.... I'm selling, at cost, my pair of great tickets to the show at Brooklyn Academy Of Music, on Sept 23rd, the release date of the "Sukirae" double album. Here are the details... Grantland interview with Jeff and Spencer--Awesome!
linclink replied to Magnetized's topic in Just A Fan
Small curiosity... in the original article it says a "Connecticut Tigers cap" & in the initial post here, a "Detroit Tigers cap". Not a big deal (I'm mainly a Mets fan, & then the Red Sox, & the final 3rd place team of my baseball trinity, the, gulp, Yankees...I know, I know) but as a baseball fan, I was curious...an old friend & former band mate is a huge Tigers fan... -
I'm guessing 9/10 is the best bet now (with 17/18 possible) with it being close to the Fest shows & those dates allowing for two nights- one at The Capitol in Port Chester & I'm betting one in NYC proper... here's hoping!! Thrilled about Tweedy in Buffalo too!! One week after Ithaca as well...even though it also means I've now got to sell my ticket to St. Vincent on Oct. 1st in Columbus- any takers? At least I'll still get to see her in Cleveland on Sept. 30th!
-
Right On! I'm so excited & I'm really hoping for Friday the 12th!! Then a couple of NYC shows right after that on the 13th & 14th would be perfect! Thanks so much for the tip! And please do keep us posted!!
-
Well the hits just keep on comin'!!!! This is about as great a news as I could have hoped for. PLEASE let it be on, or towards, a weekend (so friends of mine can make it there easier)!! Also the last time they did three dates- two in Prospect Park & one at Terminal Five- all of those became Roadcase shows & what an amazing run it was!!! So I'm also hoping for the hat trick too!! I've got two St. Vincent shows in Ohio (the place to be this time of year apparently) on Sept. 30th & Oct. 1st, so I just hope it doesn't overlap with those. Hate to miss the St. Vincent shows (but I have

Hoping to hear about more Wilco shows this late Summer/Autumn/Winter still... we've got four, & I'm going to two of them (Akron & Columbus), but, correct if I'm wrong, it seemed to be inferred when the Akron & Columbus shows were announced that, despite their being no tour proper, that there were going to be more dates announced... right? I figured a bit after this last spat of Tweedy/Jeff Tweedy shows were announced that we'd be hearing about them sooner or later...hoping for a couple in NYC...and I can't imagine Chicago (especially after the Taste Of Chicago cancellation) not ge

Downloadable & printable at home... going to Ithaca instead (which is much, much closer- 90 minutes away- already caught two great shows in Baltimore & D.C. & seeing both Ohio Wilco shows, so no can do this extra one...) If you've never been there BAM is an amazing venue & I have truly great tickets. I saw John Cale perform the complete "Paris

Holy cow!!! I hit the jackpot for Ithaca today. Some kind of "Gold Circle" tickets (sounded like a Willy Wonka thing- maybe they are Orchestra Pit) got 4 of them in Row C Center- 3rd row ($12 more & didn't even know they existed)... then two on the aisle, fifth row center...and this is on top of the 4 10 row dead center I got at the pre-sale. I know lots of folks who want to go, but... I'm anticipating extras here, so I'll keep everyone posted as the plot unfurls.
-
Good question. I've no idea of other options, not knowing the field well... just haven't had much luck with Front Gate myself... Adn, yeah, I have to agree that Ticketmaster is worse!!
-
I ended up with will call only for Ithaca as well. A total pain in the ass as I have to meet folks there who are coming in from a different city... I am with you in regards to Front Gate. I really wish Wilco would deal with someone else for their pre-sale tickets!!!
-
I did. Frontgate is killing me lately, huh? I got tickets, had to get 4 together, so it's 10th row center- very good, but I'll be trying to better them at the sale on Friday. There's still some good pairs left on sale now, but I'm at my limit for the show, so there's nothing I can do about it. But good luck!! Keep in touch as I'll probably be grabbing tickets on Friday too (have some out of town friends who are on the fence etc.) & I might end up with extras...

Nels in the New Yorker touting his upcoming residency
linclink replied to scottwok's topic in Just A Fan
I'm hoping to go to both sets on Friday & Sunday...hopefully seeing St. Vincent on Saturday...if I go, I'll go to all of these, not yet sure I'm going though... -
It was through Frontgate, not Ticketmaster... I'd forgotten that, & it was very poorly communicated as such to boot...sorry you missed out & good luck in the general sale...
-
Whew!! Lucked out at the last minute, when sections that were sold out showed up. 7th row center for Akron & GA for Columbus. Right On!! Ohio bound in September & a chance to see my Pappy too!

One Hour of Tweedy at Newport Folk streaming on NPR
linclink replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
If anyone gets a capture of this please PM me!!! I love the different takes here with Lucius on certain songs & the first appearance of "Hazel" in a form where I can hear it!! Debuted in Dallas I think... loving this!! -
I'm thrilled & frustrated. At this point, I know how this thing operates...their dates come out in dribs & drabs, all over the road. The problem for me is that I'd love to do as many east coast dates as I can, but I have more scheduling issues than ever before, as well as more & tighter budget considerations. I truly wish we'd just get a slate of the shows that are going to happen in the Autumn-Winter of 2014 all at once, then you could pick & choose what's best for yourself ( & those near & dear to you) logistically, financially etc. Without a whole lot of dates out t

I went to BAM for two nights in a row of John Cale doing "Paris 1919" & then another set of various songs. It's a great venue with terrific sound. This was totally frustrating I was juggling acupuncture patients & a call from a relative about a death in the family, but made sure I was ready to go at 10:00 & there were no tickets available. I had to keep juggling & checking back & did get two decent ones- in the Orchestra, off to the side, but towards the center, somewhere in the first 10 rows or so...but I lost two even better ones from my cart somehow. Really crappy work

Tweedy on Tonight Show, Thursday, July 24
linclink replied to Heart full of holes's topic in Just A Fan
I missed it live...know it'll be available tomorrow, but... the web exclusive is "High As Hello" (great choice!!), & he did "Summer Noon" on the show proper then? Is that right? -
Tweedy on Tonight Show, Thursday, July 24
linclink replied to Heart full of holes's topic in Just A Fan
I'm betting he does "Summer Noon"...think they often do more than one & end up with a bonus one online- I'd pull for a dark horse here, "Honeycombed" which just blew me away in Baltimore (D.C. too, but especially the Baltimore version...& overall I preferred the D.C. interestingly enough...) -
Wow, sounds like they are performing the whole double album, all 20 songs..."...to perform 20 new Jeff Tweedy-penned tunes.". Wonder if that's right? My hope is that there will be more than one NYC show. I'm probably at least going to get tickets for this on Friday & see how it goes, hoping for a second show to make the journey worth it.
