New York and Chicago in April

Not much to add to Paul’s excellent review. Jeff’s comments about ending music came on the heels of him congratulating Brooklyn Made on their opening and joking about how it could never get better than these two shows so they were planning to close immediately after tonight’s show. Crowd was lively but respectful. Looking forward to another great performance tonight!

Any guesses as to why last night’s episode didn’t get posted in the account’s stories? I wasn’t able to watch and was just hoping to see it.

How I (and you?) Discovered Uncle Tupelo / Wilco
Jimbo Jones replied to bustedafternoon's topic in Just A Fan
The owner of a record store that my roommate and I frequented regularly in college recommended AM to us because he knew we were big fans of The Replacements. I bought a copy and have been a huge fan ever since. -
TW’s Invisible Hits columns for Pitchfork and his blog doomandgloomfromthetomb.tumblr.com are always worth checking out. Guy is a passionate fan of a wide range of music. Thanks for posting that.

https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/neil-young-songs-for-judy/ I didn’t even know this was coming out. I have all of it on various bootlegs, but I will definitely be picking this up.

On a similar note, I saw The Feelies in Jersey City tonight and they played a full set of Velvet Underground songs. It was amazing and then they did a set of their own material plus three encores with covers of The Beatles, Stones, Neil Young, Patti Smith and The Modern Lovers. What an amazing show.

Anyone else pick this up? I have had it in various formats over the years. Glad to have it in the best possible sound quality and at a very reasonable price.

The reunion show I saw with the Ashetons and Watt was great. Didn’t get to see the Raw Power shows. Iggy was amazing on his last tour. Looks like it could be it, but I really hope it isn’t. He is a one of a kind performer.

Live At The Troubadour 11/12/96 Vinyl RSD
Jimbo Jones replied to downisthenewup's topic in Just A Fan
Had a friend grab a copy for me and I am getting around to it tonight. Sounds great (my old bootleg copy is retired) and brings me back to how great the shows on that tour were. As long as we are pining for archival releases, any chance of a full video and audio release of the 2/15/97 Irving Plaza show? HBO has the footage. -
This sounds awful. https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/02/neil-young-to-star-in-daryl-hannah-directed-western-movie/

This is just awful. Saw Grant back in May when he toured with Watt and Meat Puppets. He didn't look well, but it wasn't like that was completely out of the ordinary. He was an amazingly talented musician and a very entertaining performer. Sadly, I am too young to have seen the Huskers. I feel very lucky to have seen Grant play intimate shows numerous times though. This is a big loss, and I hope it brings long overdue attention to how great he was.

I can't wait to get my hands on this. It will be so nice to replace the nth generation copies of so much of this material that I have had for years. Just getting a chance after a crazy week to listen to the stream on NPR. The evolution of this band is still something to behold and what it led to is, for my money, some of the best music ever put on tape.
