  1. FINALLY! I can't count how many times I've asked (out loud and in my head) I've asked if they were working on a new album. Their first album is one of my all time favorites, I think. There is so much emotional depth to that album. I find it describes me better than any album I've ever heard.
  2. Hope we get some Poor Places-Reservations love.
  3. If that version of "Summerteeth" were a statue, I would worship it and clean it up every time pigeons pooped on it. "False idols" be damned.
  4. Oh my god, this version of "Summerteeth" is just about my very favorite thing ever. Amazing.
  5. The only way for the minorities not represented by the two parties (Believe it or not, there are people who don't fit within the constructs of a 2 party system) to have a say in what happens within a two party system is to vote for 3rd or (and, at rare times in history) 4th parties and have them take even a small amount of the vote. Enough where they force one of the two major parties to take their stances seriously. I'm not saying I'm going to vote 3rd party, but I can't bring myself to say that is throwing away a vote. Voting to perpetuate a system that breeds complacency and incompetenc
  6. Can a brother get a setlist? I heard, via kimcatch's cell phone "Radio Cure", "Leave Me Like You Found Me", and the very beginning of "Company In My Back".
  7. I would like to think that the coverage of NIU reflects a bit more self restrained media, but to be honest it just seems like people aren't as interested in this as a story compared to VT. Like it or not, media coverage is based on ads and ratings, and I think there has been less coverage because it isn't "worth it" in their eyes.
  8. By their very nature they can't, can they? I hate writing headlines.
  9. I need to go during the summer, is what I need to do. Or when I move to Chicago after college.
  10. A very Miami stadium indeed. I believe that is the proposed MLS stadium on the right hand side, though they may not build that. They might put a parking garage there instead and have the MLS team play at the new FIU Football Stadium (Which is going to be beautiful).
  11. Indeed. I also met the person who posted just now. She and her husband drove me to the place I was staying in Chicago last year. They are good people as well.
  12. In all fairness, alot of times editors are restricted in the headlines they can make by the space given them by designers.
  13. Oh yeah, and MrRain holds the distinction of being the only VCer I've met in Florida, when we went to a ball game last summer. Good times.
  14. A lot of teams do. I don't get why people are all up in arms.
  15. LOL I find this alot more amusing than the "Marlins Mermaids", at least. Some fans are really pissed off about this, I think it's all in good fun. Probably not good to post something that ridiculous while discussing the merits of the franchise as a major league commodity. Hopefully when we get the stadium, stupid gimmicks like this will be over. Apparently the new stadium will supposedly have an aquarium and a cigar shop, among other things. I'm excited to see an official design released.
  16. I cannot tell you how excited I am, but I'm also not holding my breath. I know this could fall through, but this is definitely the closest we've ever come to having a stadium.
  17. Anybody else get their tickets this weekend? I got one, as did my sister and mother. I think my sister is going to camp with some friends, while my mom is shacking up in a hotel. I'll be in a tent with some friends as well. All in all, this weekend I bought tickets for Radiohead and Bonnaroo, and I'm less than 3 weeks from Langerado. And I have tickets for Bruce Springsteen in April. And I'll be picking up tickets for Tom Petty soon. So I've got a good slew of shows in the coming months.
  18. It is Against Me's first album. Pretty great folky-punk stuff, if that makes any sense. I've been listening to them a lot. Great band, that one. Can't wait to see them at Bonnaroo this year.
  19. I'm not sure it is the solution either, but it would have prevented this. I'm of the opinion that the only way to make sure stuff like this doesn't happen is either making sure nobody has guns, or everyone has guns. Neither is feasible, so we have to do what we can to make things like this less likely to happen with more background checks and tighter regulations.
  20. The only way to have prevented this would have been if one of the students in the class had a gun on him for protection. I'm not sure if I want that happening, but it's the truth. And "Media sensationalism" makes me laugh, in this instance. I was discussing with people at the paper how little a deal this is being made relative to the Virginia Tech shootings. I felt the media has done a good job of policing itself with regards to baseless speculation. If the guy went off medication, it is the media's job to report that. They aren't trying to demonize people with mental illness.
  21. I bought my ticket nice and easy at about 1 o'clock. Got lawn seats, can't wait.
  22. I'm just trying to make you proud of me.
