  1. "I wonder if this will be enough for Ruth apologists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_color_line" I just don't understand why Bonds is crucified for doing something that players have been doing since the beginning of the game itself (Trying to gain a competitive edge by any means necessary, legal or illegal). It just doesn't bother me that much. It really doesn't bother me nearly as much as everyone tells me it should. Nobody hates players from the 40's-80's for the widespread use of greenies. Nobody brings up that Ruth wasn't playing against black or hispanic ball players (not his f
  2. A friend of mine (Not a student there) was on campus at the time. He's fine, thankfully, but I knew he lived up there so I imed him immediately when I heard about this.
  3. The freedom to criticize speech is as important as the freedom of speech.
  4. The Dolphins cut Zach Thomas today. I am very sad.
  5. That's the part of the south I like. There is a pride from the south that the rest of the country doesn't really understand. I don't believe everyone in the south is a jackass, racist pig. I'm from Florida, which is in the south, but not really The South, but I still see that southerners are looked down on by most of the country, and it isn't right. There is just as much ignorance, racism, and intolerance in the North, it's just hidden a little better. Though I don't actually believe there is a ton of institutionalized racism in either part of the country, for the most part. In pockets, sure.
  6. I'm pretty moderate in my views, and this pisses off my more politically minded friends to no end. To them, not picking a side RIGHT NOW and blindly following that party is just about the worst thing you can do. If you've got a problem with me, you can talk to me in private. There is no need for this.
  7. Incorrect, but it's really not worth discussing again.
  8. Why don't you just like, rag on the idiots instead of the entire institution, then?
  9. This is all I watch, so I'm thrilled that all of them are coming back for sure.
  10. Just for the record, I think this thread should be kept open forever.
  11. Pat is definitely the most fun to watch during shows. I love the noisy parts of "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" when he just throws tambourines and maracas in the air.
  12. Damn, I missed Christmas and now your birthday? I really suck! Happy birthday anyways, good sire.
  13. "Song Against Sex" is also a great song. This thread influenced me to listen to album today. Always nice to have a reason to listen to it.
  14. I'm glad the dirthugger and I have found some common ground. This album kicks my ass for many of the same reasons, but also for completely different reasons.
  15. The whole "Yes We Can" thing is such bullshit. I get really tired of Obama supporters sometimes...
  16. Aeroplane is top notch. Heart breaking, but uplifting at the same time. It took a while for me to "get it", but I'm glad it clicks for me now. "Holland, 1945" is one of my favorite songs of all time.
  17. Jesus, Gary. I'm sorry. I'll definitely have you and yours in my thoughts today.

    Grammys

Well, yeah. But she's pretty "talented" in that regard.

I thought Kanye was amazingly good natured tonight. I am, of course, one of his biggest defenders. Sure, he's full of himself, and he comes off as a prick, but that's refreshing. It's so refreshing to see someone who is so passionate about his music and who so obviously isn't the product of a massive PR push. He's real, whether you like him or not. I respect that.
  20. Every once in a while, if I'm listening to music too loud in my car, it'll get all staticky in just my right ear. It is weird.
  21. 4, two of which were at festivals. I've also seen Tweedy by himself once.
