RIP Dave. He also played fine guitar with the Twilight Singers & Gutter Twins amongst others. Far too young.

Nice! Jeff's new cd is superb. I'll have to console myself with Roger Waters tonight.
-
the anniversary package of "Clouds" is really cool. live disc from that era is amazing.
-
I've seen them several times & they are always amazing. Saw them in May & this year was really good. Steven Drodz is 1 of my favorite musicians & the guitar solo on "Feeling Yourself Disintegrate" was so emotional. Stellar.
-
Have fun at the rock show! 1 of my favorite bands. Think "American Band" was the best album of 2016. & it gets better every time you listen to it.
-
Just got some nice tickets for Matthew Sweet & Tommy Keene in August. Been a long time since I've seen Matthew. A long time fave.

The first thing I heard was "Fearless". As I love that song, it grabbed me totally. Really nice version. Lots of good stuff up on youtube. A few Marley songs, Every PIcture Tells a Story, a few Zeppo, Stones "Let it Loose"! & of course Black Crowes. Tickets were a little spendy for a club show but looks like going to be worth it. with 10 people in the band, many mouths to feed! Not enough good music like this out there nowadays.

I got my tickets for Seattle yesterday. I hadn't heard about this record. A very nice surprise!
-
Didn't want to put this in the Black Crowes thread even though there are lots of Crowes involved. Really like the record. They do a stellar cover of PF "Fearless" amongst many others. Sure seems like a lot of the good musicians that were in the Crowes have joined with Rich Robinson in this. I need to see these guys! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_Fhn1PLt2U&t=219s

(streaming) ain't no good....

get the 3 cd/1 dvd anthology that came out a few months ago. there's a nice booklet with it too. not talking the mega version although that looks cool too.
-
back when they played lollapalooza (year had smashing pumpkins, beastie boys) they were middle of the bill on the mainstage. they blew everybody off the stage (beasties were good but...). was while the band was having various party favour problems. i've seen him a lot. I miss blixa bargeld some but warren ellis is special. did you see grinderman when he toured that? the show i saw people in the front were yelling for bad seed song & managed to piss nick off. the intensity level at that show was unbelievable.
-
I was very disappointed when I found out he was skipping Seattle this tour. Nick (& the Bad Seeds!) always put on a phenomenal show.
-
Mudhoney is playing a street fair tonight but I'm not really up for it. Would like to be.
-
it is an awesome show. enjoy!
-
oh hell yeah. third bill on the famous black & blue tour. blue oyster cult, black sabbath with dio on vocals & molly hatchet.
-
Patterson & I are roughly the same vintage (he might be 2 years younger). Grew up on the same stuff with some geographic variances. I did see the real Lynyrd Skynyrd though at a young age!

If you get a chance to see Midnight Oil, go. The show Wednesday was a stunner. They are playing at least as well as they were when they called it a day 15 years ago. I hope this will spur them to put out some new material after the tour. Outstanding show! You know I hate to say this but I'm glad they broke up before they ruined their legacy. I was (still luv the old stuff) a huge Stones fan & it really makes me sad to see the current state of the band. It has become a business entity & not much else. There was a glimpse of the old fire with the blues record but live its same old, same old. I went to the 50th anniversary tour & was very disappointed. The only really good part of the show was the Mick Taylor cameo & they only let him play one song. I'm not counting Satisfaction. Keith's best days are behind him & it has become

Giles Martin did a phenomenal job on it. It's the first time the stereo mix has been something other than an afterthought. He definitely learned from his dad. I'm quite fond of the "Love" soundtrack. Yeah, it was different but is really cool. I've got the surround sound version of it. I've seen the show twice, several years apart. It is constantly evolving. I'd go again! Back to Pepper: It's never been my favorite Beatles record but was an important part of my childhood (I was 6 when it came out). This new mix is revelatory. For instance, I'm hearing some brilliant guitar parts I've never hear

The new mix of Sgt Pepper is amazing. Like hearing it for the first time.

RIP Gregg

Yeah, totally. REM circa Reckoning. There's a famous bootleg of the REM set out there which is awesome.
-
I saw them open for REM circa Days of Wine. An unreal great show all around.
