  1. life's rich pageant is another personal fave. that was a really good tour with guadacanal diary opening. at the end, stipe did "we don't need another hero" accompinied by a beat box. strangeness but cool.
  2. i got into them with Chronic Town. came out early in my music biz days when i was in my very early 20s. i heard boxcars & was immediately hooked.
  3. Hawk playing the Native Americans today @ home. Very cold here & we've actually had a bit of snow here. Unheard of early November. GO HAWKS!
  4. Find the River is an all-time favorite song for me by anyone. Think my favorite album by them is New Adventures in Hi Fi. "I wore my door mat face...". Any record that has a song inspired by Shakes the Clown can't be all bad. You're in the barrel now...
  5. got some really good tickets for Drive-by Truckers show in February (Seattle). It's the rock show!
  6. Last minute long shot here: I'm too sick to go to the Hawks/Texans game. If there are any fans in the Seattle area that happen to see this, I have 2 excellent tickets on the 100 level. Corner of endzone. I paid face value from ticketbastard but they were spendy. I'm hoping to recoup at least part of what I spent on them. This is killing me as this was to be my 1 game this year. If you're interested, shoot me a PM.
  7. Seattle. it's him & another guy acoustic. Easy Street Records has an attached cafe. I think its $20. There are other options with signed posters & hanging out with Tommy for more money. Kind of different. Could be a tough night for me. Night before Thanksgiving & in the middle of a chemo cycle. But it's 2 miles from my house. http://www.tommystinson.com/
  8. Tommy is playing my local record store around Thanksgiving. Probably will go depending on a few other factors.
  9. condolences. went through that 2 years ago.
  10. My Hawks have a test against Houston Sunday. I've got tickets but may not be able to go as I have pneumonia. We'll see.
  11. Very cool! I saw that tour, an amazing & unique show. I got to meet Bowie about 1990 (greatest hits tour with Adrian Belew in the band). Very brief but he was very nice. That is way up on the list of musicians I got to meet in my 25 years in the music biz.
  12. I really like the 2 EPs that have come out this year, especially Add Violence. The first one is only available digital but they put out a cd of Violence a few weeks ago. I think they might be out on vinyl, I don't really do vinyl. They also just released digital a cover of the theme from Halloween which is outstanding. For me Trent is a musical genius & even more so as he has matured. He's found a great partner in crime with Atticus Ross. Some of the soundtrack work they've done is outstanding. I think Bowie has a lot to do with where he is now. He took Trent under his wing at a crucial po
  13. I've seen hundreds of shows over the last 40 years so this is high praise. Nine Inch Nails in Vegas on Friday night was 1 of the best ever for me. They were absolutely stunning. I go back a long way with them & always have enjoyed them live but this was on a higher plane. The current line up for the band may be the best ever for them. The old material was stellar & the new stuff amazing. They played 90 minutes which normally I would think too short but they gave it everything. The Hesitation Marks tour was more electronic & funky. This show was more rock oriented. Some very emotion
  14. I am but I'm flying home sunday night. i thought about it.
  15. Afghan Whigs in a few hours. Come home for a few hours, then fly out to Vegas. NIN Friday night, Pixies Saturday night. A fine music run!
  16. Not unexpected but still sad. He was an unique performer & will be missed! http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/tragically-hips-gord-downie-dead-at-53-w504219

  21. he's definitely milking the PBS crowd with the ticket prices. some of his music is ok. definitely a huge unrepentant capitalist.
