  1. i have figured out that if i talk bad about the mariners they win. am a long suffering fan & have been burned several times obviously. so, they suck & can just go to hell!
  2. Seattle Mariners are a pleasant surprise so far. Better living via modern chemistry.
  3. tears for fears a few years ago. luv their records. the show was at a local winery & tickets expensive. really bad opening act & then a very long break. tears barely played an hour & had sound issues most of the show. no encore.
  4. i've got to listen to it more. first listen, didn't like as much as (non vile) record. will give a chance though.
  5. Nils is an awesome player. On the vid, Neil seemed to be enjoying the whole thing. Got to hang out with Nils once. Very nice & funny guy. His solo shows are always good, too.
  6. & seattle is only a few hours to the south, if you are so inclined. easy drive except in rush hour seattle.
  7. it was 2016. wish i could've seen the 3 night stand there or hollywood bowl. i went to vegas (small venue) & portland. they were my big bucket list band. they did not disappoint! they were 2 very different shows & each amazing in its own way. the vegas one is up on youtube.
  8. Robert gets real! https://www.stereogum.com/1991249/the-cure-assure-fans-they-can-sit-at-meltdown-fest/news/
  9. I saw the 2nd show of the Joshua Tree tour a year ago & Bono's voice was great. I always have reservations when I go see them & end up being blown away by how good they are live. Especially the 360 show. It was just stunning & probably the best stadium show I've seen (Joshua Tree was extremely close). It probably helps that in Seattle we have a stadium that actually sounds good. It was designed with sound in mind which is kind of a rarity for that sort of venue. I'd luv to see an area show but they aren't playing anywhere close. I have the blu-ray from Paris & its pretty good.
  10. i've met Neil a few times over the years. he's an extremely nice guy. great sense of humour. think he could get along with anyone.
  11. with Mike Campbell too! i don't think this will be a train wreck.
  12. i like shiny happy people. it was a good fit on the record. REM at their worst was still better than most bands best. to earlier post: i saw wilco open for REM too. could've been the venue (ancient small stadium) but didn't seem like they were at their best. think there was a lot of tension simmering that blew up not too long after. conversely, REM were fantastic.
  13. they're right up there. i'd have to think on that one.
  14. i'm with you. i was into them from "chronic town" on. luckily saw them a real lot including a private show in a studio in vancouver. sat about 5 feet away from michael stipe during the set. it was filmed for AOL sessions. i've found a few vids on youtube but not the whole show. you can see my feet, haha. although i miss them, i'm kind of glad they packed it in when they did rather than continue when they weren't feeling it anymore. it seems that relations are ok with the guys in the band nowadays & i wouldn't be shocked if they played again. i don't see them doing a big mega reunion tour t
  15. we luv mudhoney here in seattle. mark sat a few seats away from me @ the post pop depression show. you know his day job is in sub pop's warehouse.
  16. When the Stooges reformed they were mostly doing festivals in Europe. That year, Devo was going to headline a night at the Bumbershoot festival in Seattle (when it was still cool) but someone got sick. Some friends & I noticed that the last Stooges gig in England sort of dovetailed nicely into the time frame. Easy flight over north pole. We started emailing the promoter & would put The Stooges in subject line & "oh please oh please" in the body. Well someone was paying attention & we got them! Legend has it that Mark Arm of Mudhoney went to the promoter's office in knee pads &a
  17. The new very limited edition live record "Ogre's Trumpet" is phenomenal. Think only made 1000 LPs & 1000 cds. The current GBV lineup may be the best yet. They've been together a few years now & are really tight but with plenty of GBV anarchy. In a word, alcohol haha. Doug Gillard is a great guitar player. Highly recommended.
  18. I got tix for the 2nd Seattle show. I saw them a lot in the early days in small places (spoiled) but it has been at least 10 years. Have seen Eddie pop up at other people's shows many times since then. My friend has only seen them once, so I pleasantly surprised her & got these. Actually we're both excited. I did the new ticketbastard verified fan presale & it actually worked. At first only upper deck came up but when I hit the ADA button some great seats came up. Sadly, I qualify for that. We're sitting on the club level, which is nice for a 3 hour show. Should be good. Historically i
