  1. Why isn't Justin Bieber on this list ?????? ....did you ever think that Jeff Tweedy would be on the same list as Rihanna or Kayne West? I wouldn't think you would ever find them in the same news article much less the same list.
  2. I always thought this was a song about the trade deficit.. Fundamental problem All need to face This is imported.. I dunno, maybe this post belongs in the misheard lyrics thread.
  3. This was a little tricky, but if you go to the Wilco Base site and the page listing this concert, there is a link to the Owl & Bear download page for this show. I just finished downloading the songs and listening now - good concert! (SBD recording). Hope this isn't a violation of any of the rules, but here is a link to the O&B page: http://wilcoarchive.com/Wilco%2019951025/
  4. Wilco On Demand I have Bright House for my cable company and they have a lot of stuff available On Demand for free as part of the package. One of the networks that's available on demand is Palladia. One of the choices listed under Paladia is labeled "Singles" which apparently features individual cuts of songs from concerts that the network presents. One of the singles available in this category is Wilco's performance at the 2012 Beach Hangout Festival. Unfortunately the song for Wilco's performance is listed as "Born Alive". (sigh) Those poor guys never get any respect..
  5. Outtasite (Outta Mind) - not in the song book, but I would think that's an easy crowd pleaser. Actually for being in their 20's, I surprised (but very happy to know) they play The Band, Phish, Clapton & Talking Heads!
  6. Maybe it's just me, but in some of the live soundboard mixes on Owl & Bear of I Got You (At The End of the Century) in which John's vocals seem to be more prominent, I hear him sneeze - in other words: "AhhChoo!" rather than "It's you!'
  7. I have been listening to, and loving two concerts from that era. These are available on Owl & Bear and I would highly recommend downloading at least the following standouts from these concerts: 09/04/2003 Kingpin - Something they usually do not open with, but they do here so it's not so drawn out. Should've Been In Love - Beautiful version with the piano out front and a slow/quiet ending. Box Full OF Letters - Jeff & Leroy doing some fine guitar work here. Less Than You Think - A short, droneless version. I think if Wilco had recorded this abbreviated version, it would be a big favor
  8. Maybe it's all in a name? Wasn't Jeff Tweedy a fan of Nick Drake who wrote Hazey Jane Parts 1 & 2 ? Probably reaching here...
  9. I think this was discussed earlier in this thread, but I got The Brussels Affair a few months ago and my God, is that good! Say what you will about Brian Jones or Ronnie Wood, but when the Stones lost Mick Taylor, they really took a hit. Taylor & Richards just shine on that performance.
  10. Yeah, I think HBO's canceling Treme. A pity, it was nice to see a show that respected original music so much. I've always made a point to listen to this show through my home theatre speakers rather than just the TV speakers.
  11. Wilco, A.M. & Jeff Tweedy figured into about 4 or 5 lines of dialogue on HBO's Treme last night..
  12. Welcome Back, My Friends, to the Show That Never Ends... Ladies and Gentlemen, Emerson, Lake & Palmer - The versions of Hoedown and Aquatarkus were better than the original studio recordings.
  13. The first show I saw them at Tampa in 2002 ended this way - they ended with Reservations and each took a turn acknowleging the audience and walking off stage. This was the first ending before the encore, but was very cool.
  14. Emerson, Lake & Palmer / Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, PA / summer of 1974
  15. The DVD files are also currently available on EZTorrent (Dime A Dozen)..
  16. Is this the same kinda theory like the Star Trek movies where the even numbered ones were good, but the odd numbered ones sucked?
  17. A few thoughts (scratch that, many thoughts): First of all you're not full of shit. Many artists folow a bell curve - most are shaped more like a steep triangle. Personally, I think Wilco would benefit by bringing in someone else to mix/produce their next album. Many believe you should not produce your own albums. Most people say that YHF was Wilco's best, but I don't think it would have been so well received if their original mixes had been released as the album. I realize that the music we hear on the Sam Jones film or the engineer demos, were just that, demos, but I think Jim O'Rouke really
  18. First let me say that I too like the latest version of Spiders, however, I don't know if it's all that new. I happened to listen to a show Wilco did on 09/04/03 the other night and was suprised to notice how similar the version was to how this song is played currently. It's certainly not an exact match, but its closer what they're playing now than the version they've played from 2005 until this year. The concert was pre Nels & Pat (Leroy Bach was playing with them at that time) so I don't know if that had something to do with it. The show is on Owl & Bear - Disc 1, Track 11 if you jus
  19. I understand if the moderators feel this topic is in the wrong forum, however I think a lot of us have a tendency to only look at this forum and miss some of the others - I know I am guilty of doing this. I know notification of these concerts are aleady in the Future Age forum but I wanted to get the word out to people who might otherwise miss these. There have been two Uncle Tupelo video concerts that have been lovingly restored and now are posted on EZTorrent (formerly Dime A Dozen). You may have seen individual songs from these concerts posted on YouTube, but these concerts are light year
  20. I don't know if tonight's show has been taped yet, but I guess it would be Dawned On Me. Personally, I would like to see Born Alone.
  21. I guess in last nite's show even though he wore the hat & jacket he did also wear the Wilco Spinach t-shirt. A step in the right direction.
  22. Even if he's wearing that weird hat and jacket, its nice to see Jeff also wearing the Wilco Spinach t-shirt.
  23. I agree with you 100% on this. I can't get any of my friends or family interested in Wilco - the most I get is a polite shrug. After awhile, I start to feel like the character Jeff sings about in Golden Smog's I Can't Keep From Talking. I mean my wife has "suffered" thru 4 concerts with me, but she just gave me a blank stare when I told her about this high quality Uncle Tupelo video I found on EZTorrent over the weekend. But I posted (In a Future Age) about the video and two VCers thanked me calling it to their attention. Feels a lot better than a blank stare - thanks everybody! It's nice to
