  1. I saw Wilco opening for Natalie Merchant where they played a lot of MA II. Its a shame they don't play more of those songs because "Secret of the Sea" and "Feed of Man" were incredible. I recentley saw Billy Bragg at a Woody Guthrie tribute concert and he played all MA songs: "Igrid Bergman", "Another Man Done Gone", "Way Over Yonder", "Against the Law" and "Black Wind Blowing".
  2. I agree as well. Luckily for me, i do get the NFL Network. Its borderline obsessive. I spent last week watching Senior Bowl practices to get ready for the draft. From the greatest foosball site in the world: www.profootballtalk.com WHERE WILL INSIDE THE NFL LAND? With the last episode of Inside the NFL now in the viewing rotation on HBO, it's unclear where the show will resurface in 2008. A source with knowledge of the show tells us that HBO was paying NFL Films a whopping $8 million per year for the rights to use the highlights of NFL games. Add to that estimated annual production
  3. The mob isn't quite what it used to be. I've seen it first-hand. My sister was married to a guy who owned his own "sanitation" business here in Jersey. No joke. One of the dumbest people I have ever met in my life!
  4. Woo-Hoo! There isn't a baseball player I've ever disliked more!
  5. Wilco can afford a year-round publicist and they have a damn fine one. Steet teams are for bands that can't really afford publicists 24/7. Festivals usually pay more.
  6. I haven't heard anyone bring this up, but does anybody think that Bellichicks ego may have cost New England the game on Sunday? I was very surprised that New England did not run the ball more, especially in the 2nd half. I know the Ginats shut down the run, but Maroney only had 14 carries. I was surprised that NE didn't come out on the 2nd half with a 7-3 lead and try run the ball with more 2 and 3 TE formations. Instead they continued to spread the formation and the Giants continued to pressure Brady. Just a thought.
  7. Exactly. I wanted the Yanks to get Pierre instead of signing Damon because I though he was the perfect fit for the Yanks. Glad they passed. Every year I get a 12-game package for Saturday Yankee home games. You can find me behind home plate about 3/4 of the way up in the top deck keeping score. Its gonna be wierd going to a new place next year...if I can afford the tix! They should have demolished Shea years ago!!
  8. Jim Kelly was a first-ballot Hall-of Famer. Brady is not overrated. Name one great QB who has won without great players around him.
  9. Scoring 14 pts. om a team you scored 38 against (and averaged 37 for the season) isn't a choke?
  10. If I'm not mistaken, that post said 52 originally, did it not??
  11. Last night, by far and away. The Yankees collapse was in the ALCS, not the World Series. I said earlier in this thread and I'll say it again: DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS That was the greatest Super Bowl ever, IMO.
  12. And since we are all music fans, heres another one: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have 12 minutes to play halftime. What will they play? Get the songs and the order right, you win! American Girl Free Fallin Runnin Down a Dream Learning to Fly
  13. Lets make this one interesting. Two chances to win: Guess the total points scored. Closest without going over wins the prize. Part II: guess the MVP of the game. Maybe each participant agrees to send the winners a mix cd or something along those lines? Any posts after 6:20 PM ET are null and void. Total points: 73 MVP: Corey Webster, NYG
  14. Nelson is as crazy as a loon! Those guys actually sound pretty good these days and they're really going at it. They've been touring ahell of a lot. It really re-invigorated those guys. Michael Falzarano from Hot Tuna is playing with them as well.
  15. Sadly, my friend Mike who played keys with them passed away a little over a year ago. Buddy's also a friend of mine as well. Was just hanging with him recently backstage at a New Riders show. I gave his wife a ride to the gig!
  16. All the suggestions have been great so far. Why not go for something completely different? Here's some stuff I've been turned onto recently: Ernest Ranglin Manu Chao Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings Dr. Dog Ron Carter- Spanish Blue
  17. What I've been hearing for the last year or so is that Republicans and conservatives have been huge contributers to the Hillary campaign, including Rupert Murdoch, because they want her to win the nomination. Its the one candidate they can drum up enough hate for to defeat. Don't know how true it is, but its a pretty interesting perspective. There is also internet-rumoring going around that Murdoch has been putting together a dossier on all of the women Bill Clinton has been involved with over the past few years that he will release if Clinton gets the nomination. Again, doubt its true, but
  18. Thats what I always figured as well. You know how rumors go, and they started around the same time Phil was having a rift with Bobby, Mickey and Bill over business. Vince certainly was a hell of a nice guy, and very friendly. He was playing with my friends band, Gent Treadly, at the time. He came into this bar where we were having a benefit, saw all the pictures of Jerry and the Dead and got very emotional. Perhaps he was just too fragile for this world.
  19. I had heard that Phil thought Hornsby was taking too much of a leadership role in the band, but you know how rumors go. its a shame, cause the Other Ones with Phil, Weir, Hart and Hornsby was fantastic. Hornsby is probably the best keyboard player the Dead ever had (sorry Brent) and he sung those Jerry songs with great love and emotion. As far as the Vince Welnick thing goes, well he was never my favorite player (or singer, or songwriter) but I did get to share the stage with him for a "Shakedown" and "Goin Down the Road" about 6 months before his death and the guy was a complete wreck. I th
  20. God no! I am a Yankees fan through and through. I HATE the Mets, and all the caps in the world couldn't stress that enough! I do think the Mets now have become the favorites in the NL East, no doubt. I'm just trying to get some interesting baseball discussions going. Also, I can't blame the Mets for giving Santana the dough. They really had no choice. Either they gave him what he wanted or the trade falls through and he ends up with the Sox or the Yanks, which Mets fans would never forgive. And as far as Minaya goes, he has overpaid for players like Pedro (giving him the extra year nobody wo
  21. And in the great tradition of the Grateful Dead, Tweedy flubs the lyrics: "Where there is no pebble thrown...". Jerry is smiling somewhere!
  22. I know people get sick of these threads, but... Feb 2 2008 Mike June & The Dirty Doves The Saint 901 Main St. Asbury Park, NJ www.thesaintnj.com Doors ar 8 I heard Bruce will be there...
  23. My entire last record detailed an entire breakup. Talk about reliving a nightmare on a daily basis! Hang in there...sometimes you need pain to make sure your alive.
