C'mon, now. Lenny is having some hard times, financially. Cohen is, in my opinion, the greatest lyricist ever. My favorite version of the song was done by my ex-girlfriend, who has one of the greatest voices I have ever heard. Think Aretha meets a female Elvis. She also did a great version of "Chelsea Hotel #2". Willie Nelson also did a version on his album SONGBIRD a year or two back, but the album is pretty horrific due to some misguided production.

When the Yanks opened in Japan a few years back, they go off to a rough start. At the end of the year, many players were saying it took them 3-4 weeks to feel right after the trip.

The Cards could be the 1st team in MLB history to have every member of their opening day roster on the DL by the end of the year. Their offense will be good, no doubt, but the top 3 in their rotation are all question marks and their bullpen is horrendous in a division stacked with offense. Toronto will improve just by being healthy, if they can stay healthy. They had a lot of injuries last year in the rotation and in the pen. The Orioles, though, are definitely headed for the basement!

The Bad Plus- they have a fresh, modern take on Jazz.

"Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution" is "Sting Me", "Believer" is "Nebakanzer" and 'Josephine" is "A Girl From A Pawnshop", and Chris Robinson is still the cheesiest lyric writer in rock. That being said, "Warpaint" may be the best record that the Crowes have done since Three Snakes and One Charm. The production is nice and loose and suits the music well, and there are some descent songs on this record, especially "Locust Street", which IMO is the best Crowes song in some time. The highlights for me are the more acoustic and country based songs, while the one-riff blues tunes are a little ov

TB is going to be a popular preseason darkhorse, but they will finish no higher than 4th place in that division. As always, it comes down to pitching and, as usual, the Rays have none. Yes, Scott Kazmir should be an ace and definitely has all of the tools to be one, but he hasn't been healthy enough to get the experience he needs to be an ace, and he's been hury in camp already. Shields is OK, but we'll see in his second year. the rest of the rotation is a question mark at best, especially Garza, who puts a lot of runners on base. Rotation aside, its the bullpen that has always been the worst

Agreed, Good point.

I agree. Great jam at the end. I recently dusted off (or re-booted) "Goats Head Soup" and I think its a very good record. "100 Years Ago", "Cold, Cold Winter" and "Heartbreaker" are all first rate songs, plus "Angie" and "Silver Train"...not one of the greates of all time, but an underrated Stones record.

I always thought the Family Guy, despite having its moments, was just poor toilet humor. I have been enjoying the new Simpsons episodes over the past 2 years. The writers have really taken the humor in a darker direction and the new, emotionally disturbed Bart is a nice change. Some of the episodes over the last few weeks have been classics, such as The Presidential Primary episode, the Valentines Day episode featuring the Simpsons parody of "Sid and Nancy" and this past Sunday's episode of "The Debarted". They are back to doing interesting animation and stories with some heart, which is wha

Great suit, but not for Jeff Tweedy. He's too short and stubby to pull it off, not to mention the bad shoes. He should stick to the Canadian Tuxedo.

One of my top 5 greatest records ever.

I couldn't agree more. If Nader is so concerned with changing politics in America, why doesn't he run for the Senate or the Congress, where he could make a real difference.

Charleston Rescheduled???: The Merged Superthread!
JerseyMike replied to mrrice's topic in Just A Fan
They actually do get paid. Of course, its a very small amount compared their usual fee, its very comparable to a stipend to cover costs like hotels and meals, but they do get something. -

Bruce Springsteen Southside Johnny Bon Jovi From what people tell me, those are the only bands to ever form in New Jersey. -
I hope he plays his version of Dylan's "Pressing On" from the I'm Not There soundtrack.

I received a few e-mails about this show, so I just want anybody interested to know that Commander Cody is slated to go on around 9 PM and we will follow shortly after around 11 PM. Thanks.

Also, I'd like to clear up the notion that you can't use Pro Tools and Tape at the same time. You record onto tape, and then bounce them into the Pro Tools and you don't lose any of the original "warmness" of tape. Its when you record directly to something digital that you lose the "warmth". Most of the studios that I've been in use tape and then dump them to ProTools, but I'm sure I live a sheltered life in that regard!

The album is live. They recorded digitally at the loft over several months. Then they took the jams, or parts of jams, that they liked and spliced them together with protools. Then they took those edited recordings, learned how to play them live and went to NYC to record AGIB.

Where has his name been in all of the steriod talk?

We're trying to get Buddy to come out and sit in with us for a tune or so since he is good friends with our steel player and our bassist, as well as the Commander himself. It should be fun. Its about 5 miles west of the George Washington Bridge, off of Rt. 4.
