Mr. Heartbreak replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I truly hate that commercial with their version of "Up on The Housetop." Fucking chick sounds like she has a speech impediment.Great comments about them on youtube: -

I was always a bigger fan of FZ than Beefheart, but he sure created some great stuff. For me, it's weird that he died this recently, as I just spent much of August and September working my way through some of his albums that were new to me: Lick My Decals Off, Baby; Clear Spot; A Carrot Is as Close as a Rabbit Gets to a Diamond; Doc at the Radar Station; Ice Cream for Crow; The Spotlight Kid; and I May Be Hungry But I Sure Ain't Weird. Anyone looking to get into the Captain, that article is right on: Doc at the Radar Station, in particular, is a stellar album. -
Highly Praised Music Artists That Don't Do a Thing for You
Mr. Heartbreak replied to GtrPlyr's topic in Someone Else's Song
Ah, yes, thanks for the reminder: may I add Sufjan Stevens and The National to my list. -
Ha. I don't break out that one too often, that's for sure. But everything else, especially from about '61-'64, is just absolutely perfect. I made the mistake of listening to pretty much all of the Live Trane - The European Tours box in order after I got it, and it almost ruined my music collection for me: everything else sounded silly and stupid after that. Fortunately, I recovered, and got back to listening to other artists again.

If you like ska, these guys are pretty entertaining:

Yeah, I was going to add them to mine, but I didn't really know how highly praised they really are (except around here). -

I'm sure it will come down in price over the next couple of years.

Anybody on here bought this? I'm thinking about it...

I must say it was sweet to watch the limping-all-season Cowboys stick it to Peyton Manning. Never did like that guy.

Check out wilcoworld.net, the official site. Also, when new dates are announced, they will be discussed here pretty quickly. Right now, there are only a few JT shows scheduled for December and January.

Thanks a lot, Moss. It was quite the event. Old Rog seems to be having the time of his life doing it, too!

I saw one of those shows. Elf Power closed their set with Brian Eno's Needles In The Camel's Eye, I believe. It was pretty kickass. Here's an obscure one from 2002: Damon & Naomi (?)

Elton John/Leon Russell collaboration
Mr. Heartbreak replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I finally caught a show on this tour last night. I'm too tired to post much about it (and had a very busy day writing already at work, anyway), but needless to say, it was very heartwarming. Elton really lifted this guy back up out of obscurity in a way, and you can see it's really helped him. They played a bunch of the album, and of course Elton did a ton of his own stuff. Non-hit highlights: Burn Down The Mission and Take Me To The Pilot. -
Went last night. Fantastic experience. My review here.

Seconded. That's become my desert island Dylan disc, especially the versions of Visions of Johanna, It's All Over Now Baby Blue and Desolation Row. Amazing stuff.

The Forum is cool, but the highlight of the Rome leg of the vacation was actually not even on the walking tour. It was discovering a church called San Andrea della Valle (St. Andrew's of the Valley) which has some amazing statuary and paintings within. Sometimes accidents can be fun! We haven't even uploaded pics yet, but I'll be sure to post some after we do.

Thanks, everybody, for all your suggestions. We just got back tonight. In Rome, we did a four-hour guided walking tour in order to knock out the Trevi Fountain, Forum, Colosseum, and quite a few other sites in one shot. It was well worth it, and we got great photos. For any art lovers out there who love the Renaissance, I must recommend the Sistine Chapel. We cruised through it in about two hours and thoroughly enjoyed it. Seeing Michelangelo's work there is an amazing experience. We also opted to get the museum pass in Paris and hit the Louvre for about four hours and the Musee d'Orsay for ab
