  1. I have to admit, I didn't know Buddy was even in Electric Flag, though I've heard of them, and am sure I've heard some of their stuff before. I think I always confused them with Moby Grape, though Moby Grape put out a lot more records ... That Long Time Comin' album actually looks pretty interesting. I may have to add that to The List.
  2. I've been on the board for years, and I know: the moderators always listen.
  3. I actually think this arrangement really obscures some of the vocals, but it's still in my top 3 Wilco songs.
  4. Seriously, I need a good recording of this.
  5. Nice. Always good to hear John sing one.
  6. Trust our man mountain bed, Free-Form Funkified Filth is freakin' cool.
  7. You're a good man, Charlie Brown. Although I always liked the original Experience better, Hendrix's work with Buddy was pretty damned inspired, too. Poor guy, only 60! That's just too young, these days.
  8. Yeah, I personally think the world is just a little bit better without him.Buddy Miles I'll mourn, but not Bill Buckley.
  9. I don't know, I've bought about 20 used John Coltrane CDs and I don't think it's hurt him at all, since he's pretty fucking dead.
  10. Jeez, I'm from CT originally. Who do we have, other than John Mayer? Maybe NRBQ? Everyone knows them, right?
  11. I'm also in the camp of never liking any of these bands. But then, I thought the whole punk movement was worthless, too. I'll take solid blues-based rock, psychedelic, and jazz over anything these guys did. I saw X in concert once, and it still ranks as one of the worst concert experiences I've ever had.
  12. I have to agree with MattZ here. I was disgusted with the more right-leaning aspects of the Clinton admin (NAFTA, "Don't ask, don't tell," etc.), and consquently, I voted for Nader in 2000 ... in Florida. Who would have imagined those symbolic "protest" votes would have proven so pivotal? Looking back, I wish I'd held my nose and voted for Gore. I wish we'd all voted for Gore and been spared 8 nightmarish years. Not that I think he would have made a great president. He just couldn't possibly have been as bad for America and for the world, really, as GWB.
  13. I think what's really objectionable (actually laughable) is this tripe: 1) It's ANY president's job to be a cheerleader after ANY major catastrophe. Bush having his ass in that chair does not make him a hero, just as Bush having that megaphone in his hand didn't make him an orator. 2) Yay, tax cuts for the rich! What could be better when you're mortgaging our nation's fiscal future with a war that should never have been waged in the first place? 3) Um, Bush gets credit for "keeping us safe from terrorist attacks" when the 9/11 attacks themselves occurred on his watch? Okay .... Oh, right, I f
  14. Yeah, that was my favorite show of them all. They must have played 26 or 27 songs.
  15. 8/31/99 - St. Pete 11/2/02 - Tampa 11/3/02 - Gainesville 11/5/02 - Orlando 2/16/05 - Tampa 3/10/06 - Jacksonville
  16. Yeah, baby! You should also seek out the pre-Blue Mountain disc Big Black River by The Hilltops. It has some early versions of Blue Mountain tracks, not to mention some great songs sung by Wilco's own John Stiratt.
  17. I totally agree with everything in this post, except that I felt AGIB was a huge step down after the 3 great albums that preceded it. I also think someone in the band needs to have the balls to say, "This song sucks" (Shake It Off) or "This idea sucks" (the 10-minute "drone") when that's the case. Jeff is a great songwriter -- just think about Via Chicago, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart and Jesus, etc -- but everybody writes clunkers, and dreck like Shake It Off (or the still mercifully unreleased Millionaire) is best suited for the living room only, IMHO. Unfortunately, there was a time when
