Weakest track on SW is Magnetized, IMO. People posted about it like it's in the same league as Reservations or In a Future Age, which to me is just inexplicable.

Mr. Heartbreak replied to Mr. Heartbreak's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I'm going to be interviewed on the radio again today. Check out WTIS AM 1110 at 3:30 EST for The Pete O'Shea Show: I'll be talking about my 3rd novel, Miles of Files. If you're out of the Tampa area, you can listen live online here: https://wtis1110.com. -

I thought we were just doing plain old lists, but since people are adding reminiscences, I've expanded my original post. 2010-04-03 - Paul McCartney, Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL - Reviewed in After the Show (and probably still in there), this was my first Sir Paul show, and exceeded all my expectations by far. It didn't hurt that I was only about twenty rows back from the stage. A 37-song setlist with everything you could want to hear, and not much you wouldn't. Life-altering. 1988-03-17 - Frank Zappa, Broome County Arena, Binghamton, NY - My only FZ show. What else needs to be said? Parts -
New Bob song. Strange hearing such a direct Shenandoah refrain in a song that otherwise...isn't Shenandoah. I guess he's sort of pulling what Dylan did with that Muddy Waters tune. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hear-bob-weirs-aching-new-song-only-a-river-w435151

Jay Farrar has some things to say about Jeff Tweedy
Mr. Heartbreak replied to sonnyfeeling's topic in Just A Fan
Been listening to the last Uncle Tupelo show in the car as I drive around Tampa blasting the AC. While some of Jeff's Anodyne songs seem to hint toward an effort at reconciliation (Long Cut) and others are about a variety of themes (Acuff Rose, New Madrid), Jay's all seem to be directed toward the ultimate breakup and his animosity toward his then-rival. Can't find you know/I didn't know you then Chickamauga's where I've been/Solitude is where I'm bound/I don't ever want to taste these tears again No sign of reconciliation/It's a quarter past the end Slings and arrows completes the sco- 21 replies

Anyone else have the '75 rehearsals tapes? I'm listening to them for the first time, as I went on a Dead bender and downloaded pretty much everything I could find from the early to mid-70s. If you think you'd like to listen to them jam on Stronger Than Dirt like twenty times in a row, this might be the stuff for you. I love it. https://archive.org/details/gd75-03-17.sbd.vernon.10111.sbeok.shnf

Politics 2016 (election edition)

Hillary could turn out to be a Huma Abedin-eating, Vince Foster-killing android and I'd still vote for her over Douchebag Don. -

I never knew he did that. He must have been daydreaming about one of the pageants. Funniest thing I've seen all day. Thanks for sharing it. -

I was basically coming on here today to post a longer version of this. In a weird way, I want him to keep shoving his tiny feet into his big mouth, as he still has the potential to alienate even more people over the next few months...people who are currently planning on voting for him. Even Joe Scarborough disavowed him this morning. That's a good start. On the other hand, I can't help thinking that if you're so inarticulate that you constantly need an army of staffers to come out and "explain" your latest asinine statement/gaffe/non-sequitur, then maybe you shouldn't be anywhere in public wit -

So now the latest conspiracy theory trending on Twitter is that Hillary has Parkinson's. That has got to be some kind of new low. -
I was working at a crappy mortgage company, my first "real job" after moving to Tampa. There were no other Deadheads there, as far as I know. People made snide remarks. They thought it was funny, I guess. No one there gave a damn about it except me. It was like a punch in the gut followed by several good shots to the head. A truly awful day.

Whatever happens between now and November, Hil better not get complacent. Unless he actually has a complete mental break, lots of people are still going to vote for this a-hole. -

Katy Perry? Really? Well, I guess John Mayer isn't available, since he's on tour with the Dead. -
I don't know how appropriate or inappropriate this is considered for the forum, but I thought I'd share it here. The mods can always delete it. I've never written an online article that was mostly about Wilco - in this case, some of Wilco's business/marketing practices - but I just posted this one on LinkedIn. I didn't include a call to action, so it's not directly promotional to my own business or my books, so... Anyway, here it is: http://lnkd.in/bpjP64y

Thank you. I wish things were otherwise, but... The Music Must Change! I feel bad posting anything about the work (if it's not flat out complimentary) on this particular board, the Wilco fan board. There are plenty of other places where people are posting stuff like that, I'd imagine. I like these guys as musicians, and suspect I'd like all of them personally if I knew them. I don't put myself in that category. I try to be the most positive person I can, and to surround myself with positive people. The fact that I'm a little saddened by what I perceive as a decline in quality shouldn't

I hate to pile on, but I have to agree with those who have been disappointed with the band's evolution (or devolution) in the 2000s. I absolutely love YHF, Summerteeth, Being There (the songs, if not the overall production of that album), A.M., AGIB and most of the Mermaid Ave. material. Once Jay was gone and Nels came along, I started to lose that wonderful feeling of being compelled to absorb every word and every note. I feel bad even mentioning it, because I like Jeff and have met and spoken with him on a couple occasions - back in the days when the band weren't as successful, and you could

Apparently, I already have the Mason's Children, as they released it on the reissue of Workingman's. The rest will be new to me."It's mostly Maui Wowie but it's got a little Labrador in it." "Labrador?" "Yeah, my dog ate my stash."
