  1. Listening to some 5/25/72 today to commemorate the date...44 years ago today. Great run to end that tour.
  2. I actually like Dark Neon better than most of WTA.

  4. Kinda bummed they are touring so extensively but didn't put any FL shows on the schedule. I saw them here in FL at a couple shows last year, then flew to MA for Solid Sound...so I just missed the debut of Star Wars, and still haven't seen them do any of those songs live.
  5. "PM on the way!" as the old folks used to say round these parts...
  6. "I'm not the guy who was saying it was the last show." I dunno, I think that's pretty disingenuous. The whole deal was called Fare Thee Well. I agree w/ mountainbed on all this stuff...though for people who dig it, hey, enjoy!
  7. Been listening to 5/26/72 discs in the car for the first time. What a show. I've had MP3 files of it for years but am hearing things I never heard before on the official release. Wish I had the whole box!
  8. I voted for Bernie in the primary, but he still lost FL by a wide margin. I agree with you guys about the nutter factor; one of my high school friends posts 10 times a day on Facebook about Hil, making it sound like she is the Antichrist. People need to grow the fuck up and recognize that unless ALL of the Bernie supporters get behind her and vote, we will be faced with the ultimate shit show of President...damn, I can't even write it. This election should be a no brainer, but this being America, it will not be a landslide. I don't see much downside to voting for Clinton. You get big Bill back
  9. It's funny you should mention the 6/14 show. I had just started working my way through it for the first time ever when the new pick arrived. And it was one of the first things I went back to after finishing the new pick. I thought it a much better '76 show, especially the tracks you listed. Then, of course, I went right into Europe '72 shows again!
  10. Anybody get the new Dave's pick? Kind of a slow '76 show. I sold mine to someone on Dead.net and went right back to my wayback machine through Europe '72 shows I'm hearing for the first time. Carry on!
  11. Wow. I hope they can mend fences but, more importantly, I hope there are a lot more FZ shows coming out.
  12. Holy shit, Cruz is dropping out. This gets more surreal by the minute.
  13. More previews. The Jim James cover of Candyman sounds pretty good, but the Unknown Mortal Orchestra version of Shakedown Street is crap. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hear-jim-james-aching-cover-of-grateful-deads-candyman-20160427#ixzz47ASOKBYR
  14. Bernie is starting to look toasty. If he can't pick up anything other than RI tonight, I'd say his path is pretty well narrowed down to nothing.
  15. Listening to it now. It remains pretty unremarkable compared to previous releases. Sorry, Jeff, I love you buddy, but...this sounds like a period of either malaise or complacency.

  17. I never got into Prince at all, but I must say his While My Guitar solo was pretty cool. If he'd done more of that and less Little Red Corvette, I'd probably be a fan.
  18. Dude, 54 bands? You're a warrior.
  19. Looks like they have been discounting and selling off the remaining stock of the Europe '72 shows. I could not resist picking up the 2 I didn't already have board recordings of, 5/24 & 4/11. I guess pretty much all those shows are excellent. Get 'em while they're still available: dead.net.
  20. I'm not sure I would have recognized her! Been appreciating some of her work this past week myself.
  21. Yeah, there is a surprising amount of kickass material on the first two, especially Star or Stone, Reflections on a Broken Mirror, & Vibration & Light Suite. I felt the 3rd was a drop in quality, but some of those songs translate well live.I, too, love the somewhat offbeat covers: Never Been to Spain comes to mind, Girl from the North Country...you never know what they're going to pull out. Probably can't resist seeing them again when they pass through in July. Tickets are $25, can't beat that.
  22. Okay, so I'm just going to start a thread for these guys. It seems like quite a few people on VC are huge Black Crowes fans who feel that CR is a huge dick. I don't know about all that, but I have 1) Zero interest in his brother or what he is doing 2) A genuine affection for the work of CRB and Neal Casal, and 3) No desire to engage in back and forth about this stuff. So here is the CRB thread. They have been making music together for 5 years and have a new record coming soon...just about the only new music I'm genuinely excited about right now. These guys have been great when I've seen th
  23. To me, he just sounds like someone who's smoked too much pot, but whatever.
