Sorry to read what many of us here are going through. My wife found out this weekend that the restaurant owner who's she's worked for since 2014 is shutting down for at least two weeks--maybe permanently. No work = no pay. This is devastating to so people many in so many ways.

Starting to get excited about the upcoming Dave's 34 from 6/23/74. I think I was already familiar with so many shows from the era that this one slipped by me, but the comments on headyversion about the versions of To Lay Me Down and Ship of Fools are very encouraging. And the bonus material from the previous night, including Eyes & Wharf Rat, sounds pretty awesome. As someone who's more of a Jerry guy than a Bobby guy, I've always felt like there are "Jerry" shows and "Bobby" shows. This one looks to be a Jerry show!

Big fan of both Mazzy Star and Opal, though I knew them primarily from the ladies—Hope and Kendra, respectively. Guess I was an admirer of the man’s work without knowing the name. RIP

So sad, but it will be nice to see. I’m sure I’ve posted it on here before, but I was a big fan of Neal’s solo work from back before he joined Ryan Adams’ group. Was thrilled when I learned about CRB, and went to my first of several shows in 2011. They smoked. Overall I think they played too often, so they were inconsistent, but sure put out some great stuff. Still miss Neal.

The positive response from you freaks has made me a little happier about the pick. I'll admit, I was kinda hoping for a Fall '72 show, as it seems like we've gotten plenty of '74 lately with that box set. Turns out it's been quite a while since a '74 Dave's Pick. Looking forward to hearing it.

This is one of those shows--I confess there are quite a few--where I have a digital copy but haven't gotten to it yet. I am familiar with a couple shows around it: the 6/18 show from Freedom Hall, Louisville, KY, and the 6/26 Providence show, featured many years ago via the old Steel Cut Oats site. There's good stuff on this release, I'm sure, and I'm glad we didn't get something from 1993...but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed having a Wall of Sound show as the feature of the year with the bonus disc. Thanks to everyone who has made a contribution to this thread. I'm mainly a classic rock/jazz/blues/folk guy, although the 1500 or so artists in my collection do include quite a few indie bands, electronic music, and so on. Like I said, it's really a shame, because Jerry is just on fire--and the sound quality is better than probably the last 10 or more Dave's Picks. Have any of you freaks gotten the new GarciaLive Vol. 12 release? They should have attributed it to "Jerry Garcia & Merl Saunders featuring Sarah Fulcher." According to the website, Sarah's tenure with the group was "brief but revolutionary." Man, someone online turned me on to a digital copy of this, and thank God I didn't actually pay for it. Sarah's vocal, er, stylings, are like 20 minutes' worth of high-ptiched shrieks. Think Donna's "whoa-oo-oh-yeeeeahhh" shriek, only in vast quantities. Yeah, that Bruce Christmas album is great. Mostly traditionals, with one original. Bruce is in fine form, and there's no Tin Pan Alley crap.

I'm partial to the 3/26/98 Lounge Ax show. That tape was really my full-on introduction to Tweedy & Wilco. "Hey, shut up. Lotta people talking back there. I know I'm playing a bunch of quiet songs--but they're really pretty. You're missing out on a very dynamic performance."

Not a popular POV around here, but that remains my all-time favorite lineup. Jeff, John, Glenn & Leroy, with Mikeal coming aboard in 2002. Jeff didn't want to have to be lead guitar and front man--which is understandable--but man, it was great watching him play lead all night in those days.
