  1. How about Atlantis by Donovan...the part where Billy Batts gets the shit kicked out of him?
  2. Pretty bummed about this. I have scoured the internet for more info, but only come up with rumors: rehab, back surgery...nothing with a solid, attributable source. Saddened by the news, either way. Last year was a great year for me for concerts, but this year is shaping up to be all sorts of messed up. First Paul McCartney got sick, and the show I was supposed to go to was postponed until October 25th...which would have been fine and dandy, except I had tickets for Bill Maher that night. I finally sold the Maher tickets yesterday, and now this (I had tickets for Ratdog and CRB for 8/24). I s
  3. I would pay to see Peter Frampton if it had been this show. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/122402/Peter-Frampton-Comes-Alive-To-Throw-An-Obnoxious-Fan's-Phone
  4. Yeah, me too! Eight hours one way is just too damn far.
  5. Apparently, not everyone loved Boyhood: http://touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-80957159/
  6. I am out of personal days until October, so yeah, I will have to miss this. Good one, though. At this point, I would rather see a Jeff solo show than a Wilco show. Never had a chance to see JT solo...not yet, anyway.
  7. A bunch more shows announced on their Facebook page: Athens, Philly, Ithaca, Boston, Northampton, Portland, & Burlington. Athens, GA is 8 hours north of me, so I am SOL again. Sigh.
  8. I think we can rule out Talking Heads, if we couldn't already. Good job, Frantz! http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/talking-heads-on-stop-making-sense-we-didnt-want-any-bulls-t-20140801?utm_source=dailynewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter
  9. http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2014/07/idris_muhammad_legendary_new_o.html Another legendary jazz drummer...
  10. I love Steven, and I am a fan of the band, but I can imagine he would wear thin on just about anybody after a few hours.
  11. Another vote for The Real Frank Zappa book, although it kind of peters out at the end when he decides to stop talking about himself and start talking about politics and whatnot. I started both Ace Frehley's and Steven Tyler's books at a bookstore, but haven't finished them. That would require actually paying for them, as my local library doesn't have them in their system.
  12. I only got as far as Hazel and I had to run an errand and then by the time I got back, it was time for bed. I hope it can just stay on "pause" until I get back tonight. Agree that the material sounds really good. It's all of a piece, which I like, because it's pretty stylistically similar. Hope this surfaces somewhere.
  13. I have been stating I am going to resist listening to these songs multiple times before getting the record, but here I go. Oh well...so much for that. Resistance is futile! Thanks for posting. Sounds good.
  14. I guess I was only half-serious. I don't want to give those guys my money, but if they brought Ace and Peter back, I'd reconsider. Only got to see them twice, and that was in the '70s with the original lineup.
  15. You guys are a creative bunch! I will second these: Talking Heads Mahavishnu Orchestra Roxy Music w/ Eno And add: Kiss
  16. I thought maybe she was going to be the new Hope Sandoval or something.
  17. Fan of the 1970s Dallas Cowboys will know this guy. I'd say 64 is too young. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2014-07-23/robert-newhouse-dies-dallas-cowboys-super-bowl?utm_source=zergnet.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=zergnet_224705
  18. Gotcha. Wasn't sure if she was worth the time to even check out (musically, that is. Of course she is worth checking out in the other way). The reason I posted was because I have seen a few pals on my Facebook feed post about her...one of whom is a guy who turned me onto some obscure Krautrock, like Amon Duul II. Thought there might be something there.
  19. No, no, not at all. I just figure he is thoughtful about sequencing, and for me, personally, it will be nice to hear the album as a whole without really knowing some of the tracks in advance. And you're right, I doubt he cares that much what is released when.
  20. It may be a good strategy to encourage pre-orders, but I'm not crazy about it from an artistic standpoint. I still like the excitement of getting a brand new CD (or download) and listening to the whole thing "cold," not knowing what to expect from the next song. This kind of obliterates that option. Just imagine if you got Sgt. Pepper's by downloading "For the Benefit of Mr. Kite" one Monday, then "She's Leaving Home" the next Monday. Kind of strange. There's also a slightly annoying factor to reading stuff like "Tweedy’s Diamond Light - Part 1 is free with Sukierae album pre-order" on the W
