Wilco - 9/3/14 - Columbus, OH LC Pavilion
Mr. Heartbreak replied to jcap1767's topic in After The Show
Wow, holy shnikes, is that a dream set list. Looks like they are combining the "Best of Wilco" with the "Wilco Rarities" for the set list on this tour. I would have been whooping and hollering and stomping my feet to the rockers and squealing like a little girl to the rarities and all manner of publicly embarrassing myself. I truly hope they schedule a South Florida stop somewhere after the Europe run. This is almost as epic looking as the "Evening With Wilco" tour! -
You use an endoscope? You are GOOD.

Looking forward to the tinnitus photography thread of photos of tweety's butt with Jeff Tweedy in the background.

Oh, man, that page is a trip. I'm on it, and there's some fucktard insisting that Bob Weir is infallibly correct in his opinion that the last couple years of Brent's tenure were the Dead's best years. Better than '72 or '74 or '77? Yeah, okay. Comical.
-
Indeed. At least some of you have a chance to see Wilco some time in the near future. They're not scheduled to play anywhere near me.
-
Good thing. I hate Ticketmaster, too, but tweety is right in that Frontgate blows.
-
If Frontgate is the one selling all the tickets, it's gonna get ugly on Friday...

An elderly couple walks into a therapist's office. They are very slow to settle into their chairs, and the husband, who is on a walker, actually requires help from his wife sitting down. The therapist says, "Well, what can I do for you two?" The elderly woman says, "We want a divorce!" The therapist can barely keep a straight face. He thinks it must be some kind of prank someone is pulling on him. "Um, may I ask how long you have been married?" "Seventy-one years," the husband says. "Seventy-one...." the therapist's voice trails off. He can barely remember his last marriage, much less comprehe

NY Times piece on Jeff and Spencer

Thanks for posting that. Now I am totally tempted to request 'The Ocean' at my next Wilco show. -
Nope, you're not crazy. He sounds exactly like a guy talking through a song, along with about 99% of his peers in that genre.

Good news for George's biggest fans: it's reissue time! http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/george-harrisons-first-six-studio-albums-to-get-lavish-reissues-20140902?utm_source=regular&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter

Listening to 9/20/70 from the archive this morning, don't believe I had ever heard any of the acoustic set of this show before. Acoustic Big Railroad Blues and Truckin' both in the first set, are you kidding me? Excellent show. https://archive.org/details/gd70-09-20.aud.remaster.sirmick.27583.sbeok.shnf

The email that Wilco HQ sent out today confirms "rarities box." This was even more exciting news for me than the new CD or the upcoming Wilco release. I am enough of a completist that I am just hoping it contains something I don't already have!- 10 replies

Maybe one of the stores can order them for you in advance of you going to Chicago? It's possible, and might be worth checking into (via email if international calling is prohibitively expensive).
-
I feel the exact same way. At the very least, they should be sterilized and imprisoned permanently, if not "eliminated."

Surprised this thread has been dead for almost three weeks. I guess we all agree that ISIS or ISIL or whatever they're called should be taken out. Meanwhile, here's another member of the well-regulated militia biting the dust. Thank God the little girl herself was not killed: http://www.aol.com/article/2014/08/27/girl-9-accidentally-shoots-and-kills-gun-instructor-with-uzi/20953005/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmaing13%7Cdl2%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D521110

Not saying either. Just reporting a fact.

My manager at work mentioned to me that the CEO of the ALS organization made over $100,000 last year. I googled it: turns out it's closer to $300,000. You can see it listed on the same link Hixter posted earlier: http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3296#.U_34JChy--I

8/27: one of those fabled days in Deadhead history: http://www.dead.net/sunshine-daydream 42 years ago today...damn, what a show.
-
I don't have the willpower to do that, but I have resisted the download. I have listened to each song as they have been streamed, and I pre-ordered, so I am planning to play the whole thing when I get it. In kind of a mellow mood lately, so this is a good release for me.

Listening to New Haven, 4/23/83 at my desk today. I went to the show the night before, but everyone on archive.org is interested in this one. Vocals are pretty ragged, as was typical of Jerry from the early 80s on, but lots of nice guitar work. Check it out: https://archive.org/details/gd83-04-23.set2-sbd.miller.29469.sbeok.flac16

Mr. Heartbreak replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I just thought it was interesting that artists like Hendrix and the Dead were "technically" considered one-hit wonders by the criteria in the article. Kind of funny. One of the people in the comments section posted almost the same thing that Louie said: "I always considered a one hit wonder to be a person or group that had one extremely popular song, and then disappeared from public notice, even if they kept putting out albums." Even that could be tough to work out, though. Jay Ferguson had one hit with "Thunder Island," but then, he was with Spirit for years before that, and considered pretty -

What a kick in the gut. One of my all-time favorites. I loved him since before I even heard Reality, What a Concept, and that was in the 70s.
