  1. Then I guess we can all look forward to Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, and Kanye West's inductions. Like I said, it's a joke, and not a funny one. I don't even watch their crap awards show anymore, because it's just become an embarrassment. At some point, most actual rockers will probably fail to show up for the award because they won't want to be associated with it.
  2. There is another subforum on here called How to Fight Loneliness. You can create a new thread there under "Got Extras?" Hope that helps.
  3. Probably treaded this water a long time ago on the board, but I personally don't think any rap or hip-hop acts should be inducted into something calling itself the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They should have their own Hall of Fame. Honestly, same goes for all those disco acts like Chic.
  4. Gotcha. I had no idea the vinyl version of KT came out so much later, as the only vinyl I ever buy consists of old used jazz records at flea markets and such.
  5. Dang, we couldn't even get a TWEEDY show down here in Florida, and you Chicagoans are getting a six-night Wilco run? Lucky f___s.
  6. So if I have read this thread thoroughly (well, the last few pages anyway), the HOF really is a joke, and not a funny one. No Yes, Moody Blues, Warren Zevon, J. Geils Band, Deep Purple, Black Flag, Sonic Youth, Roxy Music, Replacements, The Cars. Holy schnikes, but they can put in NWA and NIN? WTF?
  7. Not trying to be a schmuck here, but just wanted to point out that Kicking Television came out in 2005...nine years ago. I don't think it's a stretch to imagine prices going from $70 to $85 in that time span.
  8. Have you read this thread? http://viachicago.org/topic/50212-tweedy-—-92614-boston-ma-berklee-performance-center/ Might be a bit of an eye-opener.
  9. I discovered Moo back in my Amazon surfing days: I would do a search by price for CDs, which meant that I would be weeding through pages and pages of CDs being sold for a penny. I found a listing for Moo and it sounded interesting. What the hell, four bucks, including shipping. I liked it immediately, and ended up buying several other discs of theirs. I agree that they are patchy, but their great stuff is really, really great. Kind of like Paul Weller's solo career in that respect. Anyway, thanks for posting. I will have to check this out.
  10. Thanks for all the Emmylou comments, everyone. My wife and I are going to see her for the first time next month, and I'm really looking forward to it. Now that you have forewarned me, I won't be too distressed if she has similar issues at her solo show.
  11. I don't even know that record, but this is pretty fucking funny. I laughed out loud. We should start a new thread on the topic. How about Call of the West by Wall of Voodoo?
  12. That's why I posted it. The douchebaggery of predicting it would be lame, and then doing a victory lap because he now has "confirmation" of his own opinion, etc. etc. Personally, I find the album has really exceeded any expectations I might have had for a Jeff solo project. Even the tracks that some people consider lesser are better than Millionaire or Woodgrain.
  13. Have you seen her lately, though? Just about unrecognizable. I was really excited about this return of Twin Peaks until I learned it would be on Showtime. I got rid of those premium channels a while ago. Guess I'll have to wait until it's available on Netflix or something.
  14. Here is a contrary view which will make people's blood boil. Enjoy! http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/blogs/blog-on-the-tracks/10547398/The-Tweedy-Disaster
  15. I guess this was already posted in another thread, but I didn't see it before...not time enough to read through all the threads! Glad people are enjoying all the interviews, shows, etc.
  16. Posted on the Wilco Facebook page: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NLLSQO2/ref=tsm_1_tw_s_dm_ncde5a
  17. Aw, hell no. My wife and I were just discussing the Howl-O-Scream thing they have at Busch Gardens and the Alien vs. Predator deal at Universal Studios. She doesn't want to go to any of these things, and that is fine by me. If I'm gonna crap my pants, I want it to be just because I lived long enough to be old and incontinent...not because I paid $100 to have people scare it out of me.
  18. Based on recent setlists of Tweedy and co., I'd say there's a chance for: We've Been Had New Madrid Give Back the Key to My Heart (I know, it's Doug Sahm, but UT covered it before Wilco ever played it) Any or all of those would work for me!
  19. http://www.aol.com/article/2014/09/26/britain-joins-fight-against-islamic-state-group/20968368/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl2%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D536442 Well, I think it's safe to call this a coalition now, with Britain, Belgium and Denmark joining the fight. I only hope the loss of civilian life is very, very minimal...not just for the obvious human tragedy of civilian casualties, but also for the potential advantage to the ISIS terrorists, as they will milk that for all it's worth.
  20. It's interesting to see what people consider the standout tracks after a few listens. For me, having just run through the discs a couple times, and listening to/watching some live versions, I would say Fake Fur Coat and Diamond Light are far and away the best songs on this project. My next tier would include High As Hello, Summer Noon (which reminds me a bit of Magazine Like Sunset, probably because it has some of the same chords), and maybe Low Key. Everything else would go below those for me.
  21. Jeff calls Stephen on the Atone Phone at about 5:28. http://thecolbertreport.cc.com/videos/5mneco/atone-phone---jeff-tweedy-calls
  22. I like the new record and all, and would love to catch the TWEEDY band, but this might just be the best news I've read all day. I confess, I was a little worried.
  23. Another one: Slippin' In by Buddy Guy. Won the 1995 Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album, and it has some instant classics on it.
