  1. Wow, even noted right wing windbag Glenn Beck is saying, "Liberals, you were right." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/17/glenn-beck-iraq-war_n_5505424.html
  2. Another Dead show of interest is from 40 years ago today: 6/18/74. Parts of it have been released on Road Trips, but it's worth seeking out the entire show. http://www.dead.net/store/1970s/road-trips-vol-2-no-3-wall-sound-1974-cd
  3. When it comes to Iraq, I agree with this guy: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/gregory-meeks-john-mccain-iraq
  4. Bruce Cockburn Jay Ferguson Missing Persons Good calls on Mazzy Star & Nick Lowe, too.
  5. Couple others: Joni Mitchell - Mingus - Way weirder and jazzier than anything before or after. Paul Simon - Songs from The Capeman - Failed Broadway musical? Wtf, Paul? Phil Ochs - Gunfight At Carnegie Hall - Confrontational live versions of Elvis and Buddy Holly tunes. Essential, but only if you're in the mood.
  6. I just checked prices for Ringo Starr here in FL. The first 10 or 12 rows are $275 - more than I am paying for 22nd row tickets for McCartney. Crazy.
  7. How did you guys manage to turn a thread about cartoon characters into an argument about smoked meats? Wtf?
  8. Me neither. I just have a really good memory for dialogue. Too bad I can't remember important shit that would help me in my work.
  9. I have the recording, and I think I recall him saying, "I'll kick you in the head. I'm not a monkey in the zoo." Dude has shown a lot of restraint in these situations. I would have delivered a major thumping, I imagine. His patience is remarkable, IMHO.
  10. Dang, I never knew Jeff was such a badass. Kind of cool that someone thinks that, right?
  11. Also, if you have guests over and it's getting late, and they're not getting the hint that they really should be going, playing this album can be a great way to clear out a room.
  12. If this was accomplished by Democrat constituents, I sure hope they know what they're doing. I read that this is a very red district.
  13. Not a whole lot yet. Thank God you're here! Come on, people, give Paul a hand. Dude can't do it all himself.
  14. Looks like Cantor's people are blaming the Democrats. Pretty funny. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/eric-cantors-pollster-blames-democrats-131901793.html
  15. "If I was president, I would have gotten Bergdahl back for an 8GB iPhone 3 and a pack of gum." - Jason Jones
  16. Sir Paul's dates between June 14 and June 26 have been postponed to the fall. I'm a little bummed (and hope he gets 100% better soon), but it will actually be easier for me to see him then: it's a Saturday night instead of a Sunday night.
  17. I have all that material, and I definitely recommend it. Buckle up, you're in for a ride!
  18. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/06/05/1304556/-The-GOP-is-Heading-for-a-World-iof-Hurt-on-Bergdahl-here-s-why That last piece is what people really don't want to talk about: our military is loaded with rejects, degenerate rapists, and people who are happy to have a license to kill. Ever since the shitty treatment Vietnam vets got returning home, we have been brainwashed into thinking that ALL military personnel are automatically "heroes," which is a load of bollocks. There are good and bad in the service, just like in every corporation. Many people enter the service because th
  19. If he's doing Black Keys covers, does that make it an homage to himself?
  20. I was at this show, and that whole thing with the cell phone was hilarious. I really got the impression the girl's mother did NOT believe it was "the singer" on the phone. Classic! Great show, too.
  21. Just picked up a copy of Isbell's Here We Rest. It's pretty good...not sure he could retain my interest for an entire album at one sitting, but the guy is decent. At times he reminds me a bit of Brent Mydland of the Grateful Dead in his vocal range and inflections, oddly enough. I will dig more into his stuff and see what I think. I'm guessing Southeastern is the one people recommend the most.
  22. I was thinking more like Late Greats or something. Or Bang A Gong.
  23. Neal Casal is a highly underrated songwriter, singer and guitar player, IMO. I have been singing his praises since 1997, when a friend of mine (who also turned me on to Blue Mountain) introduced me to his solo albums. This was well before the Ryan Adams gig. Check out Basement Dreams, Fade Away Diamond Time, and Anytime Tomorrow in particular.
