  1. Hello Everyone, I tend to agree with people's opinions. I hope that Wilco doesn't repeat the same sound as Sky Blue Sky. I believe they won't. However, the same feel of 6 amazing musicians playing in the studio will still be present. I do see/hear the similarities to the previous record, but I think Wilco is maybe deliberately playing these 2 songs 1st. Line up the Conspiracy Theorists I guess i think it's some sort of weird easy transition phase. What i hope is that Wilco is saving the more ambitious/different songs for later down the road. In some ways these songs are different. Anywa
  2. I posted these comments about the 2 new songs in After The Show.....I want to put them here to see if anyone feels the same. I like anyone I guess hates to keep on saying "oh this reminds me of this so ... blah blah...."....... but I guess it's a good thing to hear influences in music. It's just natural. "First impression : One Wing - beginning guitar parts reminded me of The Cure(not sure which era). But than I went through my iPod and I realized it actually reminded me more of Interpol's Hands Away on Turn On The Bright Lights. I love the guitar sounds and lyrics and the ending is j
  3. Hey Jim, The recording sounds great. Really loving the 2 new tunes. Yeah, I immediately put the show in my iPod and only there it shall reside. I will keep my eyes/ears out for the FLAC bit torrent. First impression : One Wing - beginning guitar parts reminded me of The Cure(not sure which era). But than I went through my iPod and I realized it actually reminded me more of Interpol's Hands Away on Turn On The Bright Lights. I love the guitar sounds and lyrics and the ending is just amazing. Like nothing Wilco has done before. Sunny Feeling - like people have been saying dark lyrics w
  4. Hey Jim, Thanks for the mp3 link. I like everyone else on this board is dying to hear these 2 new Wilco songs. We are truly spoiled. I am sure the recording sounds fine. I will let you know. Anyways, as I was driving home tonight around midnight I was thinking if either of the 2 Alaska shows would show up. Sadly, this has truly made my night. I am super psyched to see Wilco at Tanglewood in 2 weeks. It will be my 15th time seeing them. Thanks, Kristofor
  5. My tickets have arrived(email on Tuesday) and now i am truly excited..... it's been like since what April that tickets went on sale. Won't be long now. Thanks, Kristofor
  6. Hello All, Blood Of The Lamb is indeed in War, Inc. It is featured in one of the most serious scenes and adds such a dark and somber mood that it was a perfect choice. There's about 2 minutes of it and it is about 80 % upfront in the sound mix. There's a little bit where Joan Cusack talks over it but you can still hear it. Anyways, the film was absolutely terrific and packed with all kinds of ideas and tone shifts to make your head spin. I want to run back to Boston to see it again. Thanks, Kristofor PS Sadly Tweedy's name was spelled wrong in the credits....as "Tweedie". Oh well
  7. Hello everyone, Well, John Cusack's new movie is already out in 2 cities as of now. NY and LA. Actually, it's only in 2 theaters total. It expands to Boston, San Francisco, DC, and Chicago on June 13th. www.myspace.com/johncusack According to John Cusack's myspace page (hey, he updates it with video diaries), Wilco & Billy Bragg's Blood Of The Lamb is on the soundtrack. Along with Ray Davies' The Tourist and David Bowie's Sorrow. Here is what this site has to say about the movie. It sounds terrific. "In an effort to monopolize the opportunities the war-torn nation offers, Tamer
  8. Well, This song is amazing!!! I downloaded this off of iTunes using my xmas gift card at 3am. Unfortunately, you can't buy the single song and Wilco is the best thing on this soundtrack. I was psyched to have a new Wilco tune and this did not disappoint especially after the 30 second Amazon.com sample. The lyrics I had to write down because they are so fantastic. This song definitely is a distant cousin of Hate It Here. I realize there is a lyrics section on here, but I didn't know if it would be checked for this song so soon. These are some of Jeff's best lyrics in here. If anyone here h
  9. Hey, I was thinking about this the other night when I was blown away by this whole concept. I kind of have this idea of them opening with their opening track each night and than moving around their catalog. Night 1 : I Must Be High Night 2 : Misunderstood Night 3 : I Am Trying To Break Your Heart Night 4 : At Least That's What You Said Night 5 : Either Way Yea, I can't really see Can't Stand It opening a show or being played. We'll have to see. Someone will have to tally up all of Wilco's recordings to see how many songs they have. I think I see 96 on another thread. I was at all 3
  10. Well, I was at the cinema tonight to see The Hunting Party and there was an amazing trailer for Reservation Road. It featured Sunken Treasure towards the end. It used the opening strumming and some lines in the verse(s) and the rock out part towards the end to synch up with the actor's names. Unfortunately, the only internet trailer has Damien Rice's Grey Room in the same part. So hopefully before the film comes out on October 19th this 2nd trailer shows up online. Is this the first time Wilco's music has been used in a trailer ? I seem to think it is. I was the only person in the thea
  11. This is from March 28, 2007. As you can see John's Boston in June story came out to be. Also, I remember Pat saying Boston would be in the fall. Anyways, here is the post. I am surprised that people remember this story. I kind of think a few other people might have spoken to John or even Pat as well about a new record. "Hello, I would like to throw in my .02 cents. I spoke to John Stirratt after The Autumn Defense show last Tuesday in Cambridge, MA. I gave a short review of it and I forgot to mention something he mentioned. I told him I loved Sky Blue Sky and asked him what plans were in s
  12. Here's Jeff Tweedy. Discuss Here's Mikael Jorgenson Here's John Stiratt I think it's clever to have Joaquin Phoenix as JT and Philip Seymour Hoffman as JB. That way they can continue their competition from the 2006 Oscars. When they both get nominated for the Wilco motion picture. Thanks, Kristofor
  13. Hello, I put this in my review of the show and I saw it in the MTV Unplugged thread. I figured I'd give everyone the heads up. Sorry, if this is somewhere else on the board in plain sight. Anyways, it will be on in "the future". Beautiful venue. It reminds me of the type of place that would hold a German festival. I remember an old U2 video bootleg I have of them back in 82 in Lorelely, Germany I think. It looks pretty close to it. Behind the stage is a forest. The place has its charms and is unique. Thanks, Kristofor
  14. Hello, I hope everyone enjoyed the show and had a safe trip. Anyone get lost like I did in 2006 ? I will save notes until later on. I need to get up early for a damn meeting. First off, tonight's show was filmed by MTV and VH1 for "future use". Later in the show Jeff joked about the curfew while sliding in the fact that they were being filmed, " We have to go now.....CRIBS is coming up next. " LOL The show started rather early. 8:10 i think till 10:05. Low finished at about 750 and than some guy from the Pines Theater came to welcome us and Wilco for coming out and said Wilco is gonna be
  15. Hey, The show is up at btree. http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=507604 I just happened to be looking for the Murat show and I stumbled upon it. Let's not get spoiled. I didn't even go tonight but it sounded like an incredible long show. Thanks, Kristofor PS If only Pines and Boston would show up the same way.
  16. Hey, What radio station gave them out ? Someone said Kiss 108 is giving out tickets to the Boston show which I find hard to believe since it's a Top 40 radio station. Have fun. Kristofor
  17. Hello, Well, I know you are right. I only tried to see if anyone would take the offer. Just excited to see Wilco again after Chicago last November. For the record I am not a cell phone picker upper during shows. I just figured since it was a Sunday night maybe someone here would partake. I'll leave the field reporting to Dan Rather. Well, i kind of figured I would get the responses that I did. You'll just have to wait until we get back from the show than. Kristofor PS Yea, I kind of feel like an ass. Cue Sad Charlie Brown Music. Head hung in shame.
  18. Hey Howdjadoo, Thanks for the help !! I am now watching it on my tv. Thanks again, Kristofor
  19. Hello, I was wondering if anyone here who was planning on staying in on Sunday night would care to receive text messages of the setlist as it is happening. Of course, posting it here would be great. I used to see this all the time on the U2 mesage boards during their Vertigo tour. It was exciting to see on your computer what song they were playing. I haven't really seen it on here except for Webcasts. In order to enjoy the show as much as possible I probably would use acronyms. Think of it as a Wilco penpal for the night. I'm sure that this has been tried in the past. It seems that with
  20. Hello Everyone, Any ideas on how to burn this to dvd. I tried with Nero and no luck. I did it as a Data DVD. It might work but it won't play on my dvd players. I also tried to burn it via Windows Media Player but it was not very clear. Thanks, Kristofor I've only had my External Panasonic DVD-R for a month. I tried a few combinations and the Data DVD seemed like the only sure thing.
  21. Television - Marquee Moon Elton John - Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy I know 2 title tracks, but I can totally see Jeff and Nels rip up Marquee Moon. Thanks, Kristofor
  22. Hello, I agree last year's show at the Pines was amazing....or at least the last 2 encores which is all that I caught of it. Yes, I was late for a Wilco show. Get directions. Check. Pay attention. Uh...My friends and I were late to leave anyway. It was a fucking hot 90 + degree day with no breeze. I was moving mattresses out of my house. Sweating profusely. My 2 friends were at another's Awesomefest. Don't ask. By the time we met at our local Barnes and Noble it was close to 6. We were coming from NH. I didn't get lost when I saw Tweedy in Northampton in 05. But for some reason I went past t
  23. Hello, I will be at both MA shows. Really really looking forward to having a nice break between shows. Interesting to see what they pull out for both. I am sure Boston might be treated as a night two for MA. Although coming four days later and the show being halfway across the state - we'll see. Kristofor PS I really wish they'd cover Marquee Moon by Television. I think they'd tear that up.
  24. Hello, I used to live in MA. Dracut, Ma. Next to Lowell. Now I live in Hudson, NH. Kristofor
  25. They need to play Hate It Here.
