  1. The last time I checked my Wide Awake In America cd, I'm pretty sure that Love Comes Tumbling was on the disc.
  2. It's too bad that Shouldn't Be Ashamed didn't play.
  3. The guy looks like Bradley Cooper and Matthew Perry's love child. With a dash of Dominic Monaghan. Anyways, at least the last two times that WIlco was mentioned on national television was by 2 people of color.
  4. Ok. This is the third time that I've seen this tonight. And they've all been in separate threads. What exactly was said? How did Randy Jackson go from Ryan Adams to Wilco? I'm assuming he threw in their name to color his commentary on that guy's performance. "Sounded good. A bit like Ryan Adams or a Wilco." I don't watch that show and I never will. I will Google Image Katherine McPhee though.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZstxpTBqL0&feature=player_embedded Enema Man? I'm assuming he means Eminem. Or that's someone who does a residency at Shady Acres. LOL
  6. Take 2. LOL Up: Lotus, Hope, At My Most Beautiful, The Apologist, Sad Professor, You're In The Air, Walk Unafraid, Daysleeper, & Why Not Smile? Reveal: The Lifting, I've Been High, All The Way To Reno, She Just Wants To Be, Imitation Of Life (I remember a close friend of mine bashed Stipe's lyrics, but I didn't care because it was new R.E.M. at the time. Now being interested in other bands I'm not automatically liking something because it is new.) & I'll Take The Rain. Around The Sun: Leaving New York, The Outsiders, Final Straw, Boy In The Well, High Speed Train, Worst Joke Ever, Th
  7. I'm probably in a rare breed that enjoys all 4 of those albums from Up through Accelerate. Although, I should say that I enjoy the 1st half of Reveal. So right now that album's 2nd half and this is near the bottom. At least with those 4 records it was a lot more engaging for the listener because they kept you hooked with different genres and the songs sounded a bit different from each other. Although, I remember last time I looked at Around The Sun I couldn't remember what half of the songs sounded like (Electron Blue, Make It All Okay, I Wanted To Be Wrong, Wanderlust, Aftermath).
  8. I am also in the "I don't really like this album" club. Am I the only one who thinks the record gets bogged down by too many same sounding songs that sound like mandolin era Out Of Time meets acoustic New Adventures In Hi-Fi? If someone put a gun to my head and asked me if I could describe each song, I probably wouldn't be here right now. None of the songs made me get a goofy grin on my face, meaning "I'm so happy that R.E.M. is back with something new and awesome." I kind of sat here confused wondering where this "expansive" comment comes into play. The one saving grace are the melodies which
  9. Is anyone else watching MLB Network's amazing 30 Clubs in 30 Days? My best advice is to try and watch a couple of episodes a night or watch one a day if you can. It's extremely helpful to remember who went where and who left there etc. AND it's an excellent resource to get ready for Fantasy Baseball. I already know a lot about ball players, but I love their segment on a specific team's farm system. Some things that they educated me on: Arizona - They have a pretty damn decent looking pitching staff on paper: Joe Saunders, Ian Kennedy, Zach Duke, Daniel Hudson & Armando Galaragga. Not
  10. I saw Wilco on an HD television set at Best Buy about a month ago with no sound on at all. I do know that it was from the last Austin City Limits that they did and that Jeff had a black/dark green guitar. I ran over to turn it up, but there was no remote visible anywhere and then when I went for the dial the little segment had ended.
  11. Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion were on Last Call With Carson Daly a few nights ago (Thursday). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DBgI6WLvcA
  12. I think I'm going to wait until Tuesday to hear Collapse Into Now. I vaguely remember the 4 or 5 tracks that were leaked, so it should be a somewhat fresh experience. I am pretty excited for it. RE: Remphish meeting Michael Stipe - Awesome! He was probably in a great mood because he was on Jimmy Fallon last night. Michael Stipe On Late Night PART 1 Edit: Fallon laughed when Stipe told him about Mine Smell Like Honey. To be exact, Fallon laughed at the title to which Stipe explained it was part of "The Male Trio" or something like that. Also, in regards to video albums, I know that Elton J
  13. Yes, I would call it an Info Bot. Hey, we all said that we enjoy articles. There's no need for people to have gone and gotten pissed. It's just an observation and for whatever reason it was brought up now. And we've all posted articles, so I'm not excluding myself from this critique. If I want to respond to someone's cited article, it gets a bit confusing. I feel like I'm replying to Katie Couric or my local newspaper. Then the person that posted the article has to come back here sometimes and defend the article which seems a bit strange. I guess I find it easier to know my own opinion verb
  14. Yes, but I would like to write a film or album review and I find it dreadful to sit down and do that on a daily basis. So I understand where you're coming from for coming here to post links which I reiterate I appreciate. BUT at the end of the day I need to put down into my own words my thoughts about a film or an album because I can't find any source/reviewer out there that matches my own opinion. And some of what we see posted on here always seems to be in that murky area of facts intertwined with opinions that seem to jab at one side or rather an opinion piece that has facts to jab the o
  15. Well, you should have seen Joel McHale host the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday night. He had such poise and confidence and his deliveries were spot on for every joke. I guess that "outsider" mentality really works for these Hollywood award shows (see: Ricky Gervais). Here's his opening monologue - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVYJqkZ7jnk A bit NSFW towards the end.
  16. Yes. I absolutely agree. I imagine that you aren't doing that in actual conversations with people. "What do you think of 'this'?" "Here read this while I sip on my coffee and then reply to that." Ha. Although, I respect the information being shared not everyone has the same thoughts for every specific issue. I find it a bit odd that you can find people to put into words what you are trying to convey...everytime.
  17. Thanks for this. I'll have to check my Facebook feed.
  18. I have a question to ask. It sounds a bit foolish, but it has crossed my mind and I'm now going to ask it. Does it make sense to have janitors/custodians work during non-school hours? Isn't that a huge waste of electricity just for one or sometimes 2 people? I realize that it's tough to do this type of work during school hours, but do these people really need to come in right after school finishes? Or worst from midnight until 6 or 7a.m.? {yes, I'm aware of motion sensor lights in schools but still....} I understand that this probably isn't that big of a deal, but it seems like it would
  19. Cheese Louise! It's just a joke referring to other films that you don't necessarily think of as Academy Award winners (The Golden Compass, The Bourne Ultimatum, Pirates Of The Caribbean). And thanks to Sir Stewart for being VC's house orchestra band playing me off stage. You don't have to read it all, but I'm not here to say things like "i didn't like the show" and not explain why. Speaking of censorship ( ), here's Colin Firth talking about the recent recutting of The King's Speech.
  20. Anne Hathaway did fine, although her cheerleading bit(s) seemed like an attempt to mask her nerves. And her constant "hip young Oscars" comments seemed like a rib at the whole idea. It felt like they sat around a table and said her name because she did a duet with Hugh Jackman (who I still think was the best host of the last 5 or so years). James Franco - Seriously, I haven't seen heavy eye lids like that since watching Garfield. A: 127 Hours Q: The amount of time that Franco was stoned all week. (taken from my FB page) Maybe bright lights make him squint, but I highly doubt it. He seeme
  21. Really?! Would you like me to go out and interview lesbian couples and see how many of them would leave their respective partner to fool around with a man? That's all that I'm trying to get at. How realistic is that? I guess I'm going with the true sense of the word lesbian and thinking that that applies to women who sexually desire and wants relationships with other women. I also realize that can also apply to a lesbian woman and bisexual woman as presented in the film. I just really felt like the whole Ruffalo thing was an unnecessary copout of a plot driver. The man presented as the main co
  22. Oops! David Fincher all the way. I'm pretty sure that James Cameron's clone won't win (Tom Hooper). Seriously, it's scary how much they look alike. Still surprised at Nolan's exclusion. I fell in love with Inception. It was my favorite and best filmgoing experience of 2010. In 2009, it was Inglourious Basterds. I love how Nolan made an airtight film that can be picked apart and you'll still get something different out of it. There really is no answer. It's a filmed Penrose staircase. Edit: (a bit off topic) I was considering writing an essay comparing Darren Aronofsky & Christopher No
  23. That is unheard of at VC, ain't it? OK. I will respond to Bleedorange's original question, but can I politely modify it to who I "want" to win and who I think "will" win? "Want" to win/"Will" win Best Picture: Inception/The Social Network Actor: Colin Firth (he needs to win this, so that Social Network can win the big one. Really wish Ryan Gosling was here. Totally deserved it)/same Actress: Natalie Portman/same Supporting Actor: Bale/same Supporting Actress: Melissa Leo/same (although recent talk about her own Oscar campaign may have turned some people off) Original Screenplay: Incept
