  1. One thing that really upsets me is the seemingly constant news coverage of "the 9 year old girl" who lost her life. Don't get me wrong it is horrible, but it seems like she has been put front and center in all of this and it seems to have taken on a life of its own. I hardly have heard anything about any of the other victims, besides the judge and the aide to Giffords. I had to go to a few websites to find out the other victims' names because I never heard them mentioned once. Maybe I didn't catch it? But I do know that I've come across various stories about this girl whose age seems to be emp
  2. What did a father say to Michael Jackson at the beach? Get out of my son.
  3. I'm in the scene where Ricky Gervais walks out of the bank with money that he lied to get. He actually started a brief conversation with me and another extra on set. I've talked about it many times before on here. Anyways, the thing with Ricky as director was that he shot extremely quick and it shows up in the final product. The film has a dead air quality to it which is a shame because the concept and script were amazingly original.

  8. Clearly, Norm MacDonald needs to do a spoken word version and then that would be the last one. Then everyone would rejoice "Hallelujah" and Leonard Cohen would sue for royalties. First, he'd take Manhattan, then he'd take Berlin.
  9. So does this mean that we won't ever be graced with Tear Flavored Gatorade?

  11. Hey PopTodd, I noticed that you didn't know too much about stamp collecting so I signed you up for Linn's Stamp News for 12 issues. It should only run you about $24.99. I think that it's a great deal. Anyways, PM me so that I can get your address & possible PayPal info. Hopefully, this helps you out. lol
  12. Hmm. I was surprised that the librarian didn't mention an Interlibrary loan. This is how I get a bunch of my Philosophy & " " books. Basically, if my library does not have a book or a film they check throughout the whole state and put in a request for it. It may take up to a month or so to actually get it. It may also be on Redbox for a $1 rental.
  13. I almost went to this show, but withheld from doing so due to the probability of having a snow storm and driving 3 hours in it. Anyways, it looks like Grace Potter pulled a page out of the Phish New Year's Eve handbook and did a set dressed up as the characters in the film. They even decorated the stage to look like the bowling alley. And they played songs off of the soundtrack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPSKeGmCxI8 Edit: OK. I guess 2 years ago they had a Royal Tenenbaums theme and last year they did Top Gun.
  14. Oh My Heart Another new track now streaming via NPR
  15. I agree with that. Anyways, Noe's Enter The Void hits Netflix Streaming on January 25th. Can't wait for it.
  16. I figured I'd throw on a conversation that I had with a friend of mine that is pretty much my review. I will keep this in spoilers for those of you that haven't seen it. @ uncoolpillow: Have you & your wife seen Me & Orson Welles? Yes, I know that it stars Zac Efron, but it is still pretty damn good. I love all of Linklater's films. Tape is another great, simple film with 3 excellent performances in one tiny location. Much like the following film, it also deals with rape. {Edit: I'm due for a Linklater retrospective. I realize that The Newton Boys gets little love. A Scanner Dar

  18. You know that I'm a big enough fan of the Coen Bros. that I'd see this for a second time very soon and have it feel like the first due to the excessive noise that ruined my experience. I'm pretty excited to see it again. I really let out a WTF in my head when I realized no one else in the theater was making a boo. Dumb fucking luck. Anyways, I still stand by my initial assumption that the film is a pretty simple story with not much to chew on after. And that's ok. There wasn't any scene like in No Country where two kids fight over money in the street pretty much summing the main theme of that
  19. I figured there's a similar list for records and live shows, why not films? I guess I'll beat someone to the punch. I'll be looking over my notes for this year to make some sort of list. I don't think I can rank them this year. I'll just put up a list. I shouldn't spend too much time worrying about number placement. Overall, a very strange year for sure. There were some great genre films early in the year, especially January. Then there was a rather dreadful summer except for a few films that stood out. And a pretty bland fall until the last month. I'm going to leave a list of 2010

  21. Obviously, if you have the means to DVR them then watch one that night and DVR the other one for later. How Do You Know - How do you know if a movie sucks? How do you know when to walk out of a film that has snail pacing? How do you know that Jack Nicholson had a paycheck in his hand in the few scenes that he showed up in? How do you know to leave off a question mark? Horrible. Terrible. Made solely for the sole purpose of having the distinction of the worst James L. Brooks' film ever. The first film that I've walked out of in a very long time. I can't believe that the fucking budget on this
  22. Well, in the end how are you going to remember who exactly gave you how much cash when you have a wad of say $100? I enjoy getting gift cards. I have no qualms about it because let's face it at 32 years old I don't expect my relatives to be calling my folks to ask them what I really want for Christmas? I'm not 8 years old. Aunt: So does he own The Town or Inception yet? How about that band that he loves? Sunoco? What's his size again? You get the point. I'd rather have a gift card that when I use it I remember exactly who it came from, rather than a $20 bill that could be my own $20.
  23. Alright, I can respect that and didn't exactly think that you would respond to my questions that I would most likely ask you, if you were speaking face to face with me. I understand your pain, but you could see how someone would want to see the whole picture. Even with your horrible situation, it is easy to paint some folks in a bad light and not give the whole picture to get your valid point across. This kind of reminds me of Runaway Jim/Ordinary Beehive's thread where he asked for relationship advice (I realize that you never did. sorry, that's just how my brain works.) He was upset when
