  1. A bunch of great and interesting looking films (all due in 2011) have released trailers over the past week. And this is the latest from Duncan Jones (Moon). Source Code: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4niWLnhqQ0 I think I need to watch the preview a few times to realize what the frick n frack is going on.
  2. I have a giant turntable thingy for my DVDs and I even have a stack of DVDs on top of that. I also converted an old book case for my S-Z DVDs that also includes all of my tv shows and some of my music DVDs. Then I have my black standup holders for specific directors. Does anyone else do it by director? I find that this is so much more easier looking for a film. There's still a lot of work to be done though. I haven't alphabetized my collection in almost 4 years and there's some directors who I need to pull out and put elsewhere. Edit: In total a rough estimation of almost 600 DVDs in
  3. Until I come up with or find a better one.... *(it won't go up until after Thanksgiving either)
  4. A friend of mine severely hated Antichrist with a passion. So much so that he wrote a review on it on his website. I'll probably see this film on my own when I forget about reading his review. He hasn't steered me away from seeing it altogether. *1/2 There was a moment about halfway through the screening of Lars Von Trier's Antichrist where the projector abruptly stopped. Some sort of projection booth problem. Rather than being livid, my heart lept with joy. I had wild aspirations that somehow the film became mangled beyond repair and under no circumstances could it continue. My joyous hear
  5. I would have to assume that commercials coming out of and going into programming is the most expensive, since mostly everyone sees a little bit of it when hitting fast forward.
  6. I was talking about "those" people without DVR. I have it and I love it. It's like swimming in raw sewage. To paraphrase Lt. Frank Drebin.
  7. Blue Jays acquire Rajai Davis from the A's. Tigers sign Joaquin Benoit. Marlins sign John Buck. Clint Hurdle is going to manage the Pirates. Rumor: Red Sox to send Josh Bard or Jonathan Papelbon and Jacoby Ellsbury forJustin Upton (AZ) and sign Rafael Soriano.
  8. RE: NBC's newly revamped Thursday Must-See TV Lineup: Are they shepherding these new shows to take over for The Office or 30 Rock for next year or sooner? I recall reading about Perfect Couples back in the spring and then never heard about it again until now. It is pretty much exactly like Better With You (on ABC) and deals with 3 couples (all of them young...that's the big difference). It features Olivia Munn and Christine Woods who was amazing on FlashForward as the lesbian FBI agent (FBI meaning... ). I don't know how they plan to have Parks & Recreation's 22 episodes play from
  9. I noticed that too, but that date is actually Black Friday and I think that indie record stores want to compete with the big retailers. Black Friday Record Store Day List
  10. The Young & Naught Legal Law Firm The Dusty Pillows Inkblot Blue Me The Savor Savers
  11. U2 to release Wide Awake In Europe We've all known this release was coming for a while, but it wasn't until now that U2.com have actually confirmed that U2 are releasing a live EP called Wide Awake In Europe. The EP will feature the first ever official release of Mercy as the a-side, recorded in Brussels on 22 September 2010. Mercy will be backed by performances of Crazy Tonight and Moment Of Surrender. The EP is being released to support Record Store Day, 26 November (which, at the time of writing, U2.com incorrectly claims is 23 November). It is a limited edition vinyl release, with only
  12. B & N Link Well, I went to Barnes & Noble for the first time in 2 months. I was surprised and wished that I had more money on me when I read about their Criterion Collection 50% sale. Any film lover knows how expensive this series has been since they've been in circulation. Since most of these go for $39.99 at Barnes & Noble, the sale price on one of these is $19.99. I'm pretty sure that it runs through Saturday the 20th and is available online as well. It's funny that I bashed them for having the most expensive prices for DVDs and CDs just a year ago.
  13. I was going to post this before the other 2 "pop" Cure songs were posted. Somehow there's no official video available on youtube for this one. I love this song much more than the other 2. Maybe because the other 2 get overplayed so much. I'm not a big fan of the amateur home made youtube music video featuring one picture and lyrics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgMa_OGHXOo Even Debi Newberry played it... (cue the Pot Kettle Black/In Between Days comparison discussion )
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORb3zC8z94w Yes, it's not that movie that came out today. Although, this preview is supposed to play right before it. Funny how that works, eh? When the aliens come out for us, they are bringing the autotune or taking it back. (who had that silly idea?) Other than that this doesn't look that bad at all. This looks like the focus of the film is strictly on the infantry. Oh, and there's at least one more alien invasion movie coming out in 2011. Are they trying to tell us something?
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAdaQhitdKg My somewhat new Veteran's Day song that my friend had an idea for in terms of redoing the video. A soldier comes home crippled from a war and people don't look at him the same way. Eventually his girlfriend doesn't see him anymore and he gets severely depressed. When the song hits the crescendo, the soldier in his wheelchair defiantly wheels himself over a bridge.
  16. "Shit, is it already that time of year?"
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEEUGaQTTQ0 Definitely have plans to use this in a film of mine. Although, I'm sure it already has been used in some capacity before. P.S. You should really try and play all of the videos at once on each page. It is quite amazing. A wall of noise.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFRx4PkXeVM Great cover and I loved the film (Less Than Zero) that it was used in.
  19. I always watch Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert the day after an episode has aired thanks to my Comcast On Demand. This will give me the opportunity to watch Conan, if I am home of course. Although, Conan does rerun only once at 1a.m. Or after George Lopez. I do hope that Conan does and says what he wants to say and doesn't listen to the critics or fans. He's been hit with criticism of beating a dead horse about losing his job and being on basic cable. I think everyone expected him to joke about this for like the 1st week and then he may bring it up on occasion.
  20. I heard that, but in everything she's ever been in she has been a redhead. She seems almost too perfect to be Mary Jane. Anyways, the same thing happened in the original trilogy. They had the blonde Kirsten Dunst dye her hair red and redhead Bryce Dallas Howard dye her hair blonde to play Mary Jane & Gwen Stacey respectively. Edit: She's not like Rachel McAdams who has had every hair color in all types of films. I think she's naturally brunette. I think that Sony doesn't want this reboot to feel like the film that we all saw 10 years ago.
  21. Zooey may take a somewhat minor role in the COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY Spider-Man reboot. She is the favorite to play J. Jonah Jameson's secretary Betty Brant (played by the super delicious Elizabeth "You Can Take That To The" Banks in the original trilogy) in a supposed 3 way love triangle along with a dyed blonde Emma Stone playing Gwen Stacy instead of redheaded Mary Jane Watson. Marc Webb (500 Days Of Summer) is directing the reboot due in 2012 in 3D. The Social Network's Andrew Garfield is playing Peter Parker. And Rhys Ifans is playing Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard.
  22. RE: Wes Anderson's Next Film (didn't feel the need to start up a new thread, although this was a bitch to find. I guess "wes" is not an appropriate search word.) From Joblo.com: (amongst other film sites) His next film MOON RISE KINGDOM has attracted several stars who are all in current talks to star.: Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton. Anderson wrote the script with Roman Coppola and will start production next spring. Here's a rundown of the story and details on the roles: "Moon Rise Kingdom is set in the 60s.
