  2. I think that they have a very slow modem and that this news was sent out in 2007. I also skipped out on their 3 night run at the Boston Opera House in 2005 to see U2 on their once-every-election-year tour. Edit: Oops. But I did seem them one last time in Boston in 2007 at Boston University's Agganis Arena. It was probably their weakest show. Their Easter show in 2003 at the Boston Orpheum was legendary. 13th row and broadcast on the also recently dead WBCN.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fuvi7AUfZPo&feature=player_embedded# Did you know: Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD) is an inherited metabolic disorder that, if untreated, causes mental retardation, physical disabilities and death. First described as a disease in 1954, it is a rare disorder, believed to be in all ethnic groups worldwide. The national incidence is 1 in 225,000 births. MSUD derives its name from the sweet, burnt sugar, or maple syrup smell of the urine. The disorder affects the way the body metabolizes (processes) certain components of protein. Honestly, that crossed my mi
  4. Ditto on Undertow. I may take time on this snow day to go through that R.E.M. page on the Morrisey board to look for a fixed track. Lots of other cool stuff on there. Thanks for that link. Haven't listened to them yet. Although, I did play a little bit of the beginning of each to make sure that they downloaded ok.
  5. Hmm. I was going to post that it's ironic that auctioneer thought that the live versions blew away the "studio" versions, when in fact these "studio" versions were done live or at soundcheck (like dtram mentioned) and the audience noise was stripped away. R.E.M. didn't fool anyone here. These definitely sound different than the studio tracks on New Adventures, so I agree with dtram on his thoughts about this record's sound. I think even The Wake Up Bomb was done at a soundcheck. That being said why are people downloading these fan remixed tracks when they can get the live B-sides of the same s
  6. Nice. I came up with this on my own about a year ago. I had no knowledge of it and I didn't even bother looking it up on Urban Dictionary. I'm surprised that it hasn't caught on more. Did you also come up with that by yourself? It's actually quite easy. JCroach, I will talk to my best friend who lives in the North End for some more bakeries, Italian restaurants, & some places for gelato.
  7. Awesome. Yeah, I literally sat right behind Grace at Wilco's Concord, NH show back in April. She was with the whole band minus Catherine Popper. It was tough to focus on the show. She had on a gold lame outfit with hot boots. I also thought that they'd complement the festival quite nicely.
  8. Are they really talking about this guy?
  9. I also was in 1st grade and watched it live. There was more at stake because our school in Lowell, MA was so close to New Hampshire where Christa McAuliffe lived. Every teacher there made a big deal out of it, as they should being proud of a fellow teacher going up to space. Anyways, my best friend remembers the whole thing perfectly. I agree with his memory because I can vaguely remember snippets of my own memory. He remembers us all coming back from recess and anxiously awaiting the live coverage. We all sat there as the teacher sat across the back of the room. Then everyone got super exc
  10. Blue Jays trade Mike Napoli to Rangers for Frank Francisco Did we miss this one from a few days ago? This seems to have gone under the radar. I just saw this this morning. Poor Mike's head must be spinning (AL East mindset. Now back to AL West).
  11. My friend and I joke that Jeff does the pterodactyl scream during that song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwlDW8qFGFA Yes, I realize that these are from from the t-rex, but...
  12. Brighton Music Hall That's cool about Harper's. My friend played there for the Alt Country Extravaganza Benefit a few years ago. Beautiful spacious room with awesome sound. One of the best places to see live music. It was one of the best places that I filmed one of his live shows. How could I forget The Middle East?! That's where I saw The Autumn Defense. Edit: My friend and his band also played Redbones. I forgot about that place. My other best friend used to live a few minutes from there (now he moved to the North End which makes visiting him pretty sweet). That is in Davis Square in Som
  13. Damn. My Safari crashed. Oh well. Other music venues: well, House Of Blues and the Paradise are great. Midway Cafe, T.T. The Bears (Arcade Fire played their first Boston show here), Great Scott, Plough & Stars. Sadly, Harper's Ferry and Avalon are no longer running. I'm not a beer drinker, but I know fellow locals (friends) who are into the local beer scene. Edit: DUH! I totally forgot about Sunset Grille & Tap. There's like 400 beers on tap from all over the place. Take the Green Line B train to Harvard Ave (not Harvard Square). A 9 page .PDF beer menu... I'd say Cheers is som
  14. Newbury Street In the Back Bay of Boston. Take the Hynes Convention Center stop on the T to get to one end of the long street. Arlington T stop gets you out at the other end. Copley T stop gets you somewhere in the middle. Some places of interest: the original Newbury Comics and JP Licks (the Oreo soft serve is to die for). Of course, there are a ton more interesting stores than that. If you take the Arlington T stop for Newbury St, you will be close to Public Garden. Taking the T to Park Street is also a very good option. It's the hub of quite a few places. You'll be near the Boston C
  15. This wasn't the Wilco coming to Boston in the spring thread that I had hoped for.... Will you be in town for baseball season? Try to catch a game at Fenway Park, if you haven't before. Then, of course, there are night clubs/music venues right next to there. The T is pretty great. It pretty much goes anywhere that you can think of in terms of sight seeing. Let us know where you went in 1998 and I'll try to think of different places. When you live around here it's kind of tough to think of what someone should checkout if they're coming in for a short period of time.
  16. Uberlin video Cheesus, by the time March rolls around we'll all have heard the whole damn record.
  17. This does look like a lot of fun. Although, people should be forewarned that Edgar Wright (Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz) is not directing this one. Don't worry though Greg Mottola (The Daytrippers, Superbad, Adventureland) is stepping in for him. Also, this time around Nick Frost is Simon Pegg's writing partner on this, whereas on the last two team ups it was Edgar Wright. Overall, this should be an interesting pairing of sensibilities. Edgar Wright went on to direct Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Next up for him are two projects: Them & Marvel Comics' Ant-Man.
  18. First, they announced that this year they would be doing two shows this year. I am going to pull this answer out of my ass (because this is all speculation at this point), but I'd venture to say that they'd play on Saturday and Sunday. Although, holding Wilco last on Sunday may make traffic hectic for people looking to get out of there. I'm guessing that the second show is going to be somewhat acoustic, much like they did on the "An Evening With" shows. By that same logic, I'd venture to say that I don't think that Wilco would be on Friday because too many people may be coming in out of t
  19. Well, you see there's this concept called saving money when your "fans" don't show up to your games when you win the AL East Pennant. They pretty much shopped at Filene's Basement this offseason. The GM publicly stated that they wanted to tighten the purse strings after the Rays went out in the playoffs. It's too bad. If you look back, you will see that I was very upset by this (and this is coming from a Red Sox fan). I like young teams that can destroy the elite teams. Damon can still field, but I think Manny will do the majority of the DH role. Edit: Also Mike Napoli & Juan Rivera to t
  20. Wilco's Facebook status response regarding a schedule: Wilco schedule being worked out as we type. Some details forthcoming soon but trust us... it's gonna be great. Tuesday at 2:04pm Nothing huge, but it was nice to see them (obviously not Tweedy but someone working for the band) respond to that question in that manner.
  21. I've been told by several friends in the past that I am a Wilco pusher. The same can't be said about me and U2. Although, I understand the example from the fans that I've come across.
  22. I almost just posted this.... Did you find it via the Wilcoworld link? I'm hoping for some more band announcements today, but I'm thinking this is all that we are going to get today. Edit: Wait a minute. Let me read that again. (reads first two sentences) Two headlining concerts by Wilco. (shits pants)
  23. I don't know him personally, so I have no idea. Sorry, I didn't credit you for the Berlin setlist. I assumed that it is understood that all setlists are given to us by you, unless otherwise noted. LOL.
  24. Here's a quick to find setlist for the Berlin show. I noticed that Wilcobase hasn't been updated in a long time. —"The Price Is Right" theme music intro— Wilco (the song) Bull Black Nova Hell Is Chrome IATTBYH> One Wing You Are My Face> A Shot in the Arm Poor Places> Spiders (Kidsmoke) (acoustic arrangement; Nels on electric) Impossible Germany Via Chicago Sonny Feeling (natch ) Jesus, etc. A Magazine Called Sunset Handshake Drugs You Never Know Hate It Here Theologians I'm The Man Who Loves You --------------------- Hummingbird California Stars Walken Heavy Metal Drummer Tweedy
