Good old home sweet home! So glad you are back into your space and all is well! Your original story gave me chills, so I can only imagine what it was like to live it! It might've been so much worse. My dad, now 87, tells of when he was a boy in school & was riding the schoolbus home one day. The bus came up a rise in the road from where he could always first see his family's big old farmhouse...only when he looked, there was no house where it should have stood. It had burned to the ground while he was away at school that day! I'm so glad your story had a happier ending and you & the

Credit for this thread goes to our lovely Sue K. (known here on VC as "holyshit") who composed and shared the following lovely bit of Solid Sound rememberizing: Weathered walls embrace the giddy celebration--- Wilco are we all. Isn't that beautiful? I know that all of us who attended have hearts and minds full of snapshot memories of everything we saw and did and were a part of. Please feel free to use this thread to unleash your inner creative beast, adhering of course to the time honored format of 5 syllables/then 7 syllables, then/5 syllables. Oh! Hey! I feel a haiku coming on!

Wilco rocks. Wilco fans rock! Yay for us! (We'll stack these beer mugs when we're finished)

I wanted to add my thanks for your lovely photos, cracked & hooked! They brought so much back. God, what a weekend! Brennan & I are still floating. One of these years I may post some of my photos as well, but right now, alas, real life beckons with its ugly little crooked finger..."Do the laundry", it hisses.

Hugs back, darlin'! That's a wonderful haiku, may I use it to begin a haiku thread just for Solid Sound? I think all of us attendees are bursting with words we'd love to spill about the experience, and haiku might be just the right format! Whether good or bad, the luster of our experiences would surely glow through the words.

My son Brennan got their lovely set. He hasn't had time to really listen yet but thought the recording had come out fine. He'll put it up on etree once he gets to it. Glenn almost certainly headed straight home after Saturday's show. His wife was due to give birth. Another Wilco baby!

I'm home and happy to be, but my heart is wistful for the company of so many wonderful friends, both newly-met and old. See you all next year, same bat time, same bat festival grounds. You won't keep me away if I have to hitchhike cross country barefoot. I can't imagine a festival being more beautifully organized and beautifully realized. Everyone involved should be tremendously pleased with themselves. The love and joy and happiness were so thick you could open your mouth and chew on it. I almost choked on it a couple of times! Wilco, you have once again outdone yourselves! Encore, please

Anthony, does Broom relate to IJ in any way? I'm another who recently read IJ. What a crazy, convoluted, madcap book.

We will include you in our "Toast to the Missing", Lou! Sorry you can't be with us.

He looks pretty amazing! In other news, I just saw on Steve Wynn's newsletter that Peter Buck will be unavailable for the Baseball Project, but will be (very capably, I'm sure) filled in for by Mike Mills, who has played with the BP on other dates. Don't miss the Baseball Project. They are fantastic.

Can I just say....WOO HOO, Disneyland for Wilco fans!!!! Who is this band Yoga I'm hearing about?

I'm nowhere near the area, but WOW, that would be a terrific show! Good luck with it!

Well said, timewasajoke! I feel the same. I think this will not be the average "festival" at all...if it were, I wouldn't be coming. This will be a Wilco festival, and will be wonderful in the same sense a Wilco concert is distinct from the average concert. There's a certain spirit and sensibility that lifts it above the rest. I can't wait to be a part of this. I can't wait to meet everyone who is coming!

Thanks for sharing that, Jen!

We'll raise a toast to you, Sunshine!

Hi all! I have decided to come to this shindig. See you there!

Reading these threads is the next best thing to being there...the happiness just pops right off the forum page! Congrats to the newly-engaged couple, who have such a fun, romantic story to share with their families and friends! Matt-the-Z, having heard your beautiful take on Everlasting Everything, I'm sure you were wonderful and added to the evening's enjoyment! More photos would be terrific!

Hahaha, that sounds lovely. Send away if you're so inclined. I'm also crazy about the Jay Clark song, "Anastasia" with its disparaging remark about Riverside, CA. Cracks me up every time.
