  1. This is the appropriate forum for a specific (non-random) topic. Glad to hear things are better, Jules.
  2. Kevin, I read your initial post and wanted to reply on the spot, but was too rushed at the time to organize my thoughts. When you said this:
  3. Thank you all for the civility shown in the past several responses.
  4. I used to have an elderly next-door neighbor who had a positive phobia about spiders....she couldn't even stand to look at pictures of them! My son Brennan had a t-shirt with a spider picture on it, and she would get so mad at him if he wore that shirt over to her house. She'd make him go home & change if he wanted to visit her! One night I was over at Grace's, chatting with her after I'd helped her with some housework. She was lying in her bed, reading a novel before sleeping, and as I stood there beside the bed talking to her, I saw a good-sized spider begin to rappell down from the ceil
  5. Same here. Hope the postman isn't happily caffeinated somewhere out there!
  6. Yeah, well, imagine the part where I was snuggling the trembling puppy up against my nightgown, trying to calm him because he was shaking hard enough to rattle his little needle-sharp puppy teeth, and it suddenly dawned on me that hey, those little bumps weren't skin tags, they were TICKS. Ewwww. Yuck. Ewwwwww!!! From there to two flea& tick baths & tweezers was not a stretch at all. He's so worth it. What a love! He already comes in response to his name. I'm smitten.
  7. Well, good in theory, but the way Buzz eats the treats leaves crumbled bits everywhere. Besides which, I don't think my tiny house has any available empty horizontal surfaces, despite my best efforts. We are just feeding treats when Noodle is out in the other room, and I notice that Buzz is getting smarter about polishing them off while he has the chance.
  8. Me too! Also makes me painfully aware of how many gorgeous, fascinating places on this planet I still need to travel to! Wow.
  9. Bad news for my cat, Buzz....having explored the house thoroughly, Noodle has figured out where we put cat treats for Buzz. Noodle likes! It has been Buzz's habit to eat about half the treats we put down, and then come back at his leisure to nibble a few more during the course of the day. That's not going to be such a viable plan anymore, since Noodle is keeping the cat treat area so clean it looks freshly scrubbed! Poor kitty. I'm having to sneak him treats in a closed-off room! Noodle clearly has a hunting dog's incredible sense of smell, and tracks the ground like a vacuum cleaner when f
  10. He figured out tonight that he could pick up his food dish in his teeth, and went parading around the den proudly with it. Too cute.
  11. You're so right, Kim...I've kept thinking to myself, how could anyone have been so stupid/cruel/whatever as to dump this little guy? He was shaking so hard when we found him that it broke my heart....took at least 15 minutes before he calmed down a little, then dropped almost immediately into exhausted sleep. He's such a love! Even if he is still figuring out the complexites of "No! Go on the newspaper!!!"
  12. On Wednesday of this week, my son Brennan came home from a shopping trip to find a tiny, terrified, shaking puppy all the way up by our driveway gate, which is quite a stretch from the street. He'd obviously been dumped there, being so unsteady on his feet that it is very unlikely he managed to wander there on his own. The poor thing was filthy and covered with fleas and ticks....we spent hours with tweezers that night, carefully picking him clean & flea-bathing him. It was disgusting. The next day he got a vet trip since he also had worms. But he cleaned up nice and is utterly adorable ex
  13. Here's the latest on this bizarre story: severed feet mystery
  14. I see it this way too, Kate. Thank you for putting it so sensibly yet compassionately.
  15. You people impress the hell outta me.
  16. These are nice! Could you please identify the subjects?
  17. Yeah, you don't want to wind up with a case of "Well-Dressed Infant/Naked Toddler" syndrome.
  18. I hope the baby clothes I sent weren't tiny sizes....can't remember. Usually I'm good about getting bigger sizes, but sometimes that itty-bitty stuff is just too damned cute to resist.
  19. Jenna, it does my heart good to see that VC is taking such good care of you and Lyric! Ya come to the right place.
  20. kinda fun though! Forgive me, Greg! I really did want to add my thoughts though. Bozo was a big part of my childhood. And even now, as an adult, I know so many bozos!
  21. The mud-slinging personal attacks stop here, or this thread will simply be closed. I happen to also feel that Helms was a pretty foul human being, but look! I managed to state my feelings without attacking anyone, and while being civil! Amazing!!! Any death is sad, because the person will have been loved by family and friends. So, there's that. It's hard for me, personally, to be sad about the passing of a guy who was as hateful as Helms. It's ok to have opinions, people....no one here expects that you won't....but say your piece stating that it's your opinion, without lacing the post th
  22. This particular thread has gone on long enough and has degenerated badly, so I'm closing it. Let's start a new thread and refrain from personal attacks.
  23. I love Tim Rogers. I love You Am I. My finally-21 son Tom is positively ecstatic because he's finally going to get to see them live, and on the teeny, low Spaceland stage, at that. August 7th gleams like a happy beacon. PS - I might add....and look, I have! .....that Tim is a very excellent hugger, even when, according to his setlist autograph, he is "inconsolably drunk". Truly, one of my favorite live performers (jaw-droppingly amazing, go see for yourself) as well as being one of the sweetest guys I've ever met.
  24. Read this! It's a complaint letter. Sort of. A brilliant, funny, moving book.
