This thread is such a great idea, Jay. Your brother sounds like he was a wonderful, true original. Thanks for sharing him with us. I, too, lost a beloved brother not so long ago. Maybe I can find a nice picture to post. The missing never stops, but the pain fades, fortunately.

Happy birthday, Lou! Sweets for the sweet. Have a great day & a great year!
-
Love to one of the sweetest guys I know! Welcome to your 30's, they're gonna be grand! Now that you are settling into middle age, I made you a plaid cake! Now you just need socks and a sweater vest to match.
-
You know you and yours are on my mind and in my prayers. So sad for you. Take it just one day at a time, sweetest. It'll get a bit easier to bear as time passes. Much love to you & your family.

Yeah! What's disposable income?

Wow, this is some chilling footage I'm seeing. I hope all of our members out in VA are ok. Hundreds of injuries reported, one death, and I'm sure the tallies will climb, given the range of the destruction. http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/04/28/tornado.virginia/index.html Stay safe & take care of each other. Tornadoes are relatively uncommon in this region, aren't they?

What's the price of gas where you are?

That just boggles the mind. How are people who have to drive to jobs supposed to survive? Sure makes a powerful case for advancing public transit in this area! Do you have to drive much, Maudie, or does the excellent public transit in the SF area spare you that? -

$3.91/gal here, today. I've cut so many corners lately that things are looking round. -
What's the worst thing you ever ran thru the washer?
kidsmoke replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I believe this story. -
So....last night....a full load, and Alissa contributed a big piece of chewing gum that a friend had given her, which she'd tucked into a pocket to save for later. Bad enough going through the washer with warm water, but what sealed the deal is that hubby didn't see it & transferred it all to a nice hot dryer. It was more evident when it had melted and spread over the clothes! *Sigh*.....much pinkness everywhere! Who knew that one piece of gum could spread itself so far?!!! I think I'll eventually get it all out, with enough "White Wizard" (The terrific stain remover that unfortunate

Hi Clay! Damn, that was a great show, and such a fun moment when he decided to borrow your camera so we could all see his view! That night holds some of my very fondest memories! Jeff offered, a moment later, to snap a photo with my camera, and reached out for it from the stage, but I had to tell him that the batteries had just flatlined, just after I'd taken this picture of him photographing us! Doesn't it figure. They managed to work again a few minutes later, naturally. :rolleyes

I love Scott in that glitzy jacket & his beloved red shoes! By the by, Minus 5 fans, I've got recordings we made from shows last 8-31 and 9-1-07. The usual happy, lively sets. Pm me if interested.

All you Tim O' Brien fans have tempted me into submission....thanks to a couple of leftover birthday gift certificates at Amazon, I've just now ordered "The Things They Carried" and "In the Lake of the Woods". Now, which should I read first? Laura, let us know how you liked "Unaccustomed Earth" when you've finished it. What's it about? Hey Mel (Venus) I've torn through all 3 books you lent me....loved them all! They will be headed back to you soon. Thanks so much for the loan! ("Torn through" meaning "read very speedily", not "ripped up". )

I'm going to miss Harp like crazy. A great magazine, consistently well-written.

Q23, he is absolutely beautiful! Congratulations to you and your wife!

Ah, that's so neat! She lives on!

Love to you, Michael, and family, Vanessa! Thank God it all turned out well. I hope Mike is feeling ok today & was able to come home.

In an earthquake, 60 seconds can feel like an hour and a half!
-
That was neat.
-
That's what everyone has said....that he's a terrific and endearing live performer.
-
I need to listen again. Sounds like I've missed something. Maybe I was in a bad mood when I listened first. It just didn't spark for me.
-
Well......maybe.....it just seemed so powder-puff lightweight. But I have friends who like him a lot, and some albums do surprise you by turning out to be "growers"......so, maybe another chance is deserved. Maybe.

You've got to be kidding. Sorry, Liam does nothing for me. And oh, I miss Elliott.
