  1. He figured out tonight that he could pick up his food dish in his teeth, and went parading around the den proudly with it. Too cute.
  2. You're so right, Kim...I've kept thinking to myself, how could anyone have been so stupid/cruel/whatever as to dump this little guy? He was shaking so hard when we found him that it broke my heart....took at least 15 minutes before he calmed down a little, then dropped almost immediately into exhausted sleep. He's such a love! Even if he is still figuring out the complexites of "No! Go on the newspaper!!!"
  3. On Wednesday of this week, my son Brennan came home from a shopping trip to find a tiny, terrified, shaking puppy all the way up by our driveway gate, which is quite a stretch from the street. He'd obviously been dumped there, being so unsteady on his feet that it is very unlikely he managed to wander there on his own. The poor thing was filthy and covered with fleas and ticks....we spent hours with tweezers that night, carefully picking him clean & flea-bathing him. It was disgusting. The next day he got a vet trip since he also had worms. But he cleaned up nice and is utterly adorable ex
  4. Here's the latest on this bizarre story: severed feet mystery
  5. I see it this way too, Kate. Thank you for putting it so sensibly yet compassionately.
  6. You people impress the hell outta me.
  7. These are nice! Could you please identify the subjects?
  8. Yeah, you don't want to wind up with a case of "Well-Dressed Infant/Naked Toddler" syndrome.
  9. I hope the baby clothes I sent weren't tiny sizes....can't remember. Usually I'm good about getting bigger sizes, but sometimes that itty-bitty stuff is just too damned cute to resist.
  10. Jenna, it does my heart good to see that VC is taking such good care of you and Lyric! Ya come to the right place.
  11. kinda fun though! Forgive me, Greg! I really did want to add my thoughts though. Bozo was a big part of my childhood. And even now, as an adult, I know so many bozos!
  12. The mud-slinging personal attacks stop here, or this thread will simply be closed. I happen to also feel that Helms was a pretty foul human being, but look! I managed to state my feelings without attacking anyone, and while being civil! Amazing!!! Any death is sad, because the person will have been loved by family and friends. So, there's that. It's hard for me, personally, to be sad about the passing of a guy who was as hateful as Helms. It's ok to have opinions, people....no one here expects that you won't....but say your piece stating that it's your opinion, without lacing the post th
  13. This particular thread has gone on long enough and has degenerated badly, so I'm closing it. Let's start a new thread and refrain from personal attacks.
  14. I love Tim Rogers. I love You Am I. My finally-21 son Tom is positively ecstatic because he's finally going to get to see them live, and on the teeny, low Spaceland stage, at that. August 7th gleams like a happy beacon. PS - I might add....and look, I have! .....that Tim is a very excellent hugger, even when, according to his setlist autograph, he is "inconsolably drunk". Truly, one of my favorite live performers (jaw-droppingly amazing, go see for yourself) as well as being one of the sweetest guys I've ever met.
  15. Read this! It's a complaint letter. Sort of. A brilliant, funny, moving book.
  16. Aww, Glenn & Miiri, huge congratulations to you! She's a lucky little girl. Enjoy every moment!
  17. ??? I removed my posts, too, because they no made sense now. Bea, what I meant by saying " Things of this nature can be discussed civilly" is that, even if the poster has the belief that in Spain, blacks are discriminated against, there are ways (and appropriate places and times) to discuss his or her dislike of racism without insulting an entire country and its people! If I felt that there was, for instance, a lot of racism in the deep south of the United States, and I wanted to discuss how that bothered me, I wouldn't do so in a thread about the Superbowl just because some southern team
  18. Moderators and members, I've gone ahead and removed the comments about racism, which don't belong in a soccer thread and are purely inflammatory and offensive. Things of this nature can be discussed civilly, believe it or not, so long as people are willing to discuss their viewpoints while being open to how it looks to others. It does require an open mind and empathy, but we as a human race need to constantly attempt to move ourselves forward, right? This is all great practice in that attempt. But again, it is simply unwarranted provocation in a thread such as this, and so has been removed.
  19. I'm old enough to remember Vietnam (too well). Yeah, a draft changes everything and makes a war so much more of a personal affront.
  20. Oh hell yeah! Congratulations! He sounds like a catch.
  21. I loved this! Heartbreaking though. Don't neglect reading all the end notes, as they add so much to the story (but don't read them in advance.) Her writing is brilliant. I've just finished a wonderful, wonderful book: It's beautiful and the characters are believable. Their story comes to life in Sach's capable hands, and the plot is compelling enough that it's a hard book to put down. She reaches between two cultures, American and Vietnamese, as two women's lives intertwine. This story is going to stay with me! Highly recommended.
  22. Bye, Goose. You look like you were a cool doggie, and you did what good doggies do best....made people love you. Rest in peace.
  23. Hey!!! Cake and hugs to a wonderful VC'er! I hope you like orange. This looked refreshing in this hot weather. Hope your day and your year are as terrific as you are!
