  1. On a more serious note, Kyjygyfyf, this sort of question is inappropriate and disrespectful of the band's privacy. Please, let's leave them just a little respectful personal space...we may be fans, but that doesn't give us rights to every aspect of their personal lives. And yes, I'm going to close this thread.
  2. This is the best advice you're gonna get. The cat is a dead giveaway.
  3. Yes, in some cases. And please note: it was not a question of whether the topic had been fully explored, as this discussion might have gone on much longer, with new voices adding opinions. It was that the topic wasn't even the topic anymore, and had degenerated completely into meaningless random postings. It's rare for a topic to need to be "put down", but this one needed some common sense applied.
  4. I can't expand or improve upon Gogo's response (thanks for stepping up, Maudie, as I wasn't around). She stated all my reasons for closing that, and with a lucidity that always impresses. The thread had long since simply degenerated into meaninglessness. As for the topic itself, if there remains interest, there's no reason it can't be discussed (although it's my personal opinion that the thing is utterly played out).
  5. Only too glad to help, Robert. Your own generosity has rebounded upon you. It's all karma.
  6. Time to retire this thread, which has long since lost its bearings. The subject seems to have been pretty well talked out at this point.
  7. Good old Mother! Thanks, I hadn't even had time to read that issue yet.
  8. Like macaroni and cheese for the ears?
  9. These photos are really cool! Thanks Calexico! And Speed Racer, you just made up that factoid about duck penii, right?
  10. Chris, I hate to ask, but did the poor kid survive? That's so horrible.
  11. Well not from work, silly.....I meant you don't have to learn anything at all tomorrow.
  12. Two new things in one day! Jen!!! You know what this means, don't you? You get to take tomorrow off!
  13. Will somebody let me know when I can uncover my eyes? 'Cause this thing is ugly.
  14. Should we hold our breath? Or could that turn out tragically for us?
  15. You learned sandwiches? Can you expand on this, please?
  16. Ben, you bring that lunacy over into this thread, and I swear I'm gonna thwack you one. In fact, maybe I'll just go ahead and get the thwacking over with...... There. You sensible now? At least I used the fish, rather than the headbonk hammer. That one really hurts! And yes, the drinking age in England was a happy revelation to my 20-yr-old son Tom, last fall, but about one pint was enough for him.
  17. jnickerson, unquestionably an awareness of history is essential, as is a sensitivity to the painful fallout that can affect people even generations later. That said, your point has been made. Everyone reading this thread is clear on your position. Time to quit repeating yourself and let the thread either move along or die. At this point, the volleying back and forth is unproductive and simply looks like you're out trolling, which (I hope) wasn't your intent. Can you just agree to disagree, and having said your piece, allow people the freedom within their own minds to consider what you've s
  18. I've heard it said that no day is ever wasted in which something has been learned. With that in mind, I thought I would share my latest light-bulb-over-the-head-moment-of-revelation. Here it is: You know how if you pick up a cat, it feels all tangible and solid? Muscles, bones, fur? Clearly, a solid. But then when you set a cat down, it slo-o-o-owly begins to ooze outward and outward, spreading into a puddle, flatter and flatter? I've watched my cat do this hundreds of times, but it never hit me until today.... Cats are colloids! But I don't think you can shape them into a ball and
  19. Well yes, that's absolutely true, Scott, but exactly what is it? Perhaps Mart can explain!
  20. Martman, one of my all-time heroes! I hope you are having the most fabulous of birthdays....I'm sure you are! Let me present you with a cake that befits your talent, good looks, and general all-around marvellousness. I slaved over it all day, but hey, you're worth it! And look! I even poured you champagne! Enjoy it, you richly deserve the best in life!
  21. As I know the entire Via Chicago membership is aware, we are fans of one of the most generous bands in existence today. With that in mind, I ask that you show your appreciation by not posting direct links to material that is intended to be accessed through the "enhanced content" of the Sky Blue Sky disc. Direct links of this sort are against our policies at VC. We can make it better, and more respectful too.
  22. Great little interview! Some interesting points made, and a few moments of wonderful Tweedyesque humor. And perhaps Jeff should heed Michael Stipe's advice....a slash of red lipstick always brightens a face, right? Or perhaps a band of blue about the eyes.... I'm making myself giggle imagining it.
