  1. Well not from work, silly.....I meant you don't have to learn anything at all tomorrow.
  2. Two new things in one day! Jen!!! You know what this means, don't you? You get to take tomorrow off!
  3. Will somebody let me know when I can uncover my eyes? 'Cause this thing is ugly.
  4. Should we hold our breath? Or could that turn out tragically for us?
  5. You learned sandwiches? Can you expand on this, please?
  6. Ben, you bring that lunacy over into this thread, and I swear I'm gonna thwack you one. In fact, maybe I'll just go ahead and get the thwacking over with...... There. You sensible now? At least I used the fish, rather than the headbonk hammer. That one really hurts! And yes, the drinking age in England was a happy revelation to my 20-yr-old son Tom, last fall, but about one pint was enough for him.
  7. jnickerson, unquestionably an awareness of history is essential, as is a sensitivity to the painful fallout that can affect people even generations later. That said, your point has been made. Everyone reading this thread is clear on your position. Time to quit repeating yourself and let the thread either move along or die. At this point, the volleying back and forth is unproductive and simply looks like you're out trolling, which (I hope) wasn't your intent. Can you just agree to disagree, and having said your piece, allow people the freedom within their own minds to consider what you've s
  8. I've heard it said that no day is ever wasted in which something has been learned. With that in mind, I thought I would share my latest light-bulb-over-the-head-moment-of-revelation. Here it is: You know how if you pick up a cat, it feels all tangible and solid? Muscles, bones, fur? Clearly, a solid. But then when you set a cat down, it slo-o-o-owly begins to ooze outward and outward, spreading into a puddle, flatter and flatter? I've watched my cat do this hundreds of times, but it never hit me until today.... Cats are colloids! But I don't think you can shape them into a ball and
  9. Well yes, that's absolutely true, Scott, but exactly what is it? Perhaps Mart can explain!
  10. Martman, one of my all-time heroes! I hope you are having the most fabulous of birthdays....I'm sure you are! Let me present you with a cake that befits your talent, good looks, and general all-around marvellousness. I slaved over it all day, but hey, you're worth it! And look! I even poured you champagne! Enjoy it, you richly deserve the best in life!
  11. As I know the entire Via Chicago membership is aware, we are fans of one of the most generous bands in existence today. With that in mind, I ask that you show your appreciation by not posting direct links to material that is intended to be accessed through the "enhanced content" of the Sky Blue Sky disc. Direct links of this sort are against our policies at VC. We can make it better, and more respectful too.
  12. Great little interview! Some interesting points made, and a few moments of wonderful Tweedyesque humor. And perhaps Jeff should heed Michael Stipe's advice....a slash of red lipstick always brightens a face, right? Or perhaps a band of blue about the eyes.... I'm making myself giggle imagining it.
  13. Tonio K's "H-A-T-R-E-D" from "Life in the Foodchain" is a classic. A great song to howl along with when you're pissed off. sample lyric: "I wish I was as mellow/As for instance Jackson Browne/But 'Fountain of Sorrow' my ass, motherf
  14. Sheesh, men. I've heard it said men think about sex every 6 seconds, but I think that's probably about 4 seconds longer than reality. So what was our topic again?
  15. Thank you, blindgonzo. It's been a rocky weekend & we appreciate it more than you know. Froggie, I'm happy to help the educational level in any country. In the USA, this stuff isn't taught before 11th grade. How like you Aussies to teach the important stuff way back in 9th grade.
  16. Well, to answer your first question, prostitutes. Prostitutes give f*ck. Do you people really not know this stuff? But really, can't we get away from all this foul & unnecessary language? I don't think rcb30 was saying he/she particularly cared, I think he/she just wondered. Rcb, you can find this sort of info by going to the wealth of information at WilcoBase.com. (Thank you again, Rob of WilcoBase! )
  17. ROB!!!! What wonderful news!!!! I wish you and your bride many, many, many years of love and happiness and noisy squalling children and every bit of joyous happiness that married life can bring! You are a treasure to all of us who are Wilco fans, and we appreciate you more than you can know.
  18. Let's watch the language, huh? It's possible to disagree without being disagreeable.
  19. No, I was home. Brennan and his dad had made a run out to pick up a prescription across town at the hospital pharmacy and were coming home, in fact only blocks from home. Neither Brennan or his dad remembers anything beyond just driving normally down the street....the next they remember, they had airbags in their faces and were stumbling out of the car. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't both have at least mild concussions, as hard as the airbags hit. We've revisited the accident site & tried to piece it together, but don't know if the car had a mechanical problem or what. Brennan hit a
  20. Me too. But then my 16 yr. old totalled our main family car Friday night & my husband's been in the hospital since, so my mind has pretty much been elsewhere. Everybody is ok, thank God. Bob's seat belt hurt his spleen but he's ok & has just been given the ok to come home. Bren just had a slammed knee & a couple of seat belt abrasions. Airbags saved things from being possibly much worse. A very scary weekend.
  21. I'm sorry, I can only help with real lyrics, not imaginary ones.
  22. Welcome Dani, I hope you like it here. I'll move your post to the appropriate forum. No problem.
  23. This is such a great image! We just visited the meerkats at the San Diego Wild Animal Park last weekend, and had a hard time tearing ourselves away as they alternately took turns playing sentinel or dug hole after hole into the pitted ground. If SBS had been playing, we'd probably still be standing beside their exhibit.
