  1. That was wonderful. I'm currently reading Levon's autobiography, "This Wheel's on Fire". What a story! Wow. Highly recommended! I'll have to watch that.
  2. What a bizarre story. It's not like she strolled into a private mansion.
  3. I love how everybody supports everybody else in getting there. rhino4evr, it will all be worth the effort! I would encourage you to stay for Sunday if at all possible - at every SSF I get turned on to some bands/musicians I had been unfamiliar with, and I'm always glad I was. So think about it, if your budget will allow for that. Sunday has a very nice, relaxed vibe to it as well. Good luck finding a sitter!
  4. Yeah, I was thinking Dash 7....though some people adore this song. I seem to remember that Jeff said this song is simply in an uncomfortably low register & so is difficult to sing.
  5. Lotti, I love you, and I look forward to hearing any replies Susan may have. Welfare! Sounds like an incredible auction. Those of you with musical talent, go get it!
  6. Sounds like a young band with promise. I liked the 3 tracks you suggested.
  7. I should read that. It sounds powerful. My dad was in the Pacific Theatre...he was one of the paratroopers who jumped on Corregidor to retake it from the Japanese. His stories were amazing.
  8. Agreed. I had the greatest talk with him & his girlfriend after seeing GP & the Rumour in L.A. in December. I introduced my son Brennan who had just walked up, and said my kids had grown up listening to the Brinsleys...Bob looked Brennan over and commented, "Well, you seem to have turned out alright, anyway." He was incredible in Graham's set. The boy's still got it. You're going to love these. An apple Aday keeps the doctor away, if you aim well enough.
  9. My band. Love them. And that's still the only (and real) version of "What's So Happy 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding" to me. Love the corny synchronized guitar moves between Nick Lowe and Ian Gomm. Yet it is Billy Rankin.
  10. I think maybe there was a serious case of awestruck-ness going on for Jeff. Must've been intense for him to find himself sharing the stage with Levon. So a bit of nerves don't bother me. I just remember how joyous that song felt. It was a pretty sublime space to be in right then, for them and for us. Also, I've just ordered "This Wheel's on Fire". I've been meaning to read it for a long time, so I'm glad you reminded me.
  11. I really enjoyed it, but I have to admit I found myself saying to my son, "I thought the song had more passion when we saw it with Wilco & Mavis, and Wilco with Levon's band." I'll bet those who were at those Solid Sound performances would tend to agree. But oh, didn't Mavis look (and sound) smashing at the Grammys?
  12. Diane, you've seen Steve Wynn (of Dream Syndicate) at Solid Sound before...he and his wife, drummer Linda Pittmon, are 1/2 of The Baseball Project. If I remember correctly, the BP's Solid Sound set included a Dream Syndicate song or two. That was SSF#1 in August 2010.
  13. That would be pretty surprising, as AD are finishing up a new album right now. Maybe they are playing with us like a cat with a crowd of eager mice....maybe they will put AD under T for "The".
  14. Love all the photos in this thread! I'm sure all this snow is inconvenient, but what a winter wonderland.
  15. One of the 2 San Bernardino officers attacked today in Big Bear has now been confirmed to have died of his injuries.
  16. I don't think Dorner's going to make it off the mountain alive, unless he's somehow taken into custody, but that seems unlikely...I think he'd commit suicide if he had no other choice. Police are all over all roads into the mountain. He may be holed up in a cabin now. Hope those 2 officers are ok!
  17. An odd juxtaposition. I couldn't stop watching & listening! Thanks.
