Is this song as good as I think it is??
Sweet Papa Crimbo replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Boonie...this board is filled with haters and curmudgeons. Some of them dont' even like Wilco. You think they are going to respond positively to the Avett Brothers? -
How do you feel about Ray Lamontagne? The Flaming Lips? Feist? The Beatles? The Kinks? Etta James? Squeeze? Blondie? Roy Orbison? Daft Punk? Bob Dylan? Wynton freaking Marsalis? Is Wilco's sell out more sell outy than these artists?

What's the consensus on Wilco (The Album)?
Sweet Papa Crimbo replied to Shining Sunbeam's topic in Just A Fan
I was sitting in my office listening to some Cds this morning... Monters of Folk, U2live boot and W(TQ). I find it charming and still really like it. Additionally, I had a younger cohort come into my office and heard it playing and said "I love that CD." Enjoy the moment folks. They aren't going to be recording forever. -
To paraphrase H. L. Menken, I respect people's opinions about music, but only in the sense and to the extent that I respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart

I got a grin at this coming from you. We reach brother.

Circular talk. We are a real world, living example of Idiocracy here. Everything is either 'KICKASS' or it 'SUCKS DONKEY DONG'.

Not to poke at you, but you have hit one of my hot points. Everything doesn't have to be either the greatest/best ever or the worst/shit. The internet leads to intensification of opinions because of the impersonal nature of the medium and, thusly, renders all opinions meaningless. We no longer have context nor perspective. I get more out of the statement 'I just don't like it at all. That's all' than the 'shit song'. Of course, I started a firestorm a month or so ago point this out in a much more pointed manner.

I am guessing Kevan isn't a fan of most any professional sports teams. I see I was correct in my assesment.

Maybe this is one time Jeff will read the board and maybe give heed...

I am really digging this one lately... Wish Jeff wouldn't use this one as the sing along http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVC1k9x2Ryw

I don't think I should be allowed to use your bathroom...I can destroy an American Standard with ease. At least the joker is in Louisiana and not Texas.

The first time I saw Wilco was with Dr. Dog opening too. What I remember most is the annoying hippy chick twirl dancing right next to me.

Annoyingly pretentious? Kind of like frat boys saying 'bloody'?

In what Universe is Nels Cline underrated?

New Flaming Lips Album Now Streaming
Sweet Papa Crimbo replied to ThisIsNowhere's topic in Someone Else's Song
Wayne Coyne needs to be sending Jeff Tweedy Christmas and Birthday gift for the rest of his life. If WB hadn't received so much flak for canning Wilco, The Lips would be toiling away on a much lower profile label. -
I was hooked on THS the first time I heard "Stuck Between Stations". Any band that can work Sal Paradise (the protagonist of On the Road) AND John Barryman into a killer rock song...well hell. Literate and rockin'. What elst could a brutha want?

Have either of you ever seen Springsteen setlists from 1978?
