  1. Somebody here is going to disagree with me but if you've bought AM, then I don't think personally there is any problem downloading the AM demos. And I think Jeff would agree, although he might not be crazy about demos circulating in the first place.
  2. You probably won't get a straight/definitive answer here. I don't speak for Wilco. However, in my opinion, Wilco wouldn't mind if somebody who buys all the commercial releases downloads new, unreleased material. Their actions in the past have suggested that.
  3. Yes, welcome to the board. He certainly seemed to be happy. He said he was happy. In fact, I think he said 3 times that he was happy. I just found it odd that was pretty much the only thing he said. Maybe distant isn't the right word but there didn't seem to be much between-song banter, which I guess is a different thing.
  4. It's an incredibly partisan, divisive issue. Nealry everyone has a side. Often at election time, people say "ah, I like party X but I don't like the leader" or "I'm split between Y and Z". Not on coalition. The vast majority of people are either very very strongly for it or very very strongly against it. So perhaps the most interesting thing about it is that people feel more strongly about this than they do about a general election. The other striking thing for me is Harper's misunderstanding or total disdain for the parlimentary system of government. Although it is hardly every readil
  5. You Are My Face War On War Handshake Drugs Hummingbird Jesus Etc. Impossible Germany Via Chicago California Stars Hate It Here Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You Maybe it was just me but Jeff seemed a little preoccupied or distant tonight. Maybe it was just the fact that it wasn't a Wilco audience and they were the opening act. Still, they got a pretty warm reception from where I was standing and sounded great. I haven't checked but I think this was a longer set than Halifax or Montreal. Handshake Drugs killed. Pat is starting to look a little bit like Grizzly Adams. No dance for Humming
  6. Sorry man. In other news, expect an announcement on European dates this week.
  7. Dream Baby Dream is a Suicide song that Springsteen used to close shows on the Devils and Dust tour. It was released as a single on vinyl recently.
  8. So was anybody from the board at the show last night? Here's something about Neil's set from the Financial Post, via a blog, with a positive but fleeting Wilco reference: http://neilyoungtour2007.blogspot.com/2008...ist-and_01.html Setlist: Love And Only Love Hey Hey, My My Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere Powderfinger Spirit Road Cortez The Killer Cinnamon Girl Oh, Lonesome Me Mother Earth The Needle And The Damage Done Unknown Legend Heart Of Gold Old Man Get Back To The Country Just Singing A Song Sea Change When Worlds Collide Cowgirl In The Sand Rockin' In The Free World A
  9. Some day the whole story will be told. I'm already looking forward to learning how the Conservatives thought they could actually cut funding to political parties and get away with it. Whose idea was this and who approved it? Ultimately Harper must have bought in to it so the whole group-think phenomenon must have gotten out of control.
  10. You know we'll be waiting for reviews.
  11. I wasn't actually there but from reports here, one of my favorite Wilco stories comes from that show. As they are leaving the stage, Jeff says "The Rolling Stones are coming up next. Stick around". I saw them play Bluesfest here. Not an arena but there were probably 30,000+ and they blew the roof off that - pretty remarkable considering it was outdoors.
  12. I drove my son to a hockey tournament on Friday and took The White Album along for the trip. It had been a while since I had listened to it from front to back so a funny coincidence that it was the 40th anniversary. A good choice for that drive.
  13. Isn't the floor general admission for this show?
  14. Here's my opinion. For the past few years, all Springsteen shows have been general admission on the floor. He has a system where there is a "pit" and there is essentially a lottery to get in there. The pit is an area at the front of the floor, right against the stage, which is fenced off and 300 - 500 people get a special wrist band to allow you to get in and out of there. It's fantastic, but I have no reason to believe Neil Young will institute this but you never know. The primary reason I relay the above is because when I always go with the GA. When I don't get in the pit, I go and st
  15. That's a nice picture of you in your avatar. Who is that guy with you?
  16. With everybody else who is re-forming and touring, this is certainly worth a try. Even without Ronnie :-(
  17. I just leased a Kia. I did a bunch of research and the only car in the price range and configuration I was looking at, with good reviews, and made by one of the big 3, was the Pontiac Vibe. Out of about 5 or 6 on the list. And it turns out you can't lease a Vibe. The big 3 really killed themselves in the 80s when they were making crap cars at crap prices. What I don't understand is how they never really turned it around when it was clear that the products offered by companies like Honda and Toyota were changing the market.
  18. It's starting to sink in that Obama really really won. I saw a picture of him on the cover of Time magazine and everything. It's true. A friend sent me this today: "Rosa (Parks) sat so Martin (Luther King) could walk. Martin walked so Obama could run. Obama ran so our children could fly." -- Mike Victor, Chicago southside resident, Nov. 4, 2008.
  19. Reports are that this is being recorded much the same way that Magic was - with various band members coming and going. There are also pretty strong rumours of shows, February/March in Europe and April/May in North America. So yeah, E Street Band effort I think.
